bit of a two in one here. heads up i do say a lot about drugs

meth wife doesn’t actually do meth, but something else, probably something like heroin (based purely on the fact that sam plays her like she’s on a depressant while meth is a stimulant (i won’t go rn into all the ways you can tell the difference but. yeah). and he clearly knows the difference bc he plays it more accurately IN THE SAME PLAY when he dies as the comptroller, then immediately goes back to doing it “wrong” as meth wife in the next scene. probably just the power of improv ™️ causing a mix up but my brain can’t let it go)

im thinking she either started doing it as a form of self medication (for what exactly im undecided) and got hooked from there, or was prescribed painkillers for something, got addicted to those, and switched to heroin when she could no longer get prescription stuff. it does genuinely help her with whatever pain etc issue(s) she has (even if its not necessarily a good coping mechanism, obligatory “don’t do drugs im not advocating people do drugs”), which is a reason why toby seems so casual about his wife being an addict.

(my thoughts on drugs as a social/cultural establishment in sfthverse could be their own submission tbh, i’ve thought probably too much about it for it to not be worrying)
