Weekend Getaways-TCG
*No warning applies. Family fluff/ domestic fluff*

Thomas walked into his old bedroom feeling strangely surreal as he surveyed the scene in front of him. He and Grace and baby Charlie had decided to take the weekend off and go back to Birmingham to the little brick house for a quiet weekend escape.
Golden rays of sunlight filtered through the lace curtains creating a grey and gold patterned veil over Grace's hair as she leaned over his bed to tickle Charlie who coo'd and kicked at his mum. Little giggles and girls filled the room as she tickled his exposed rounded belly.
He was happy, satiated and well loved. Like his father.
"Pictures last longer." Her thick Irish lit filled the room softly tickling his ears as he leaned on the door frame enjoying the domestic scene unfolding before his eyes.
"Noted, for the next family get away, I'll make sure to buy a camera Grace." He smiled warmly at her, the apples of his cheeks full and rosy as she teased him. A large smile spreads slowly across her face.
"We'll have to learn how to use it." She added as her attention was pulled back to the little wiggle worm they created.
"We can afford to buy a camera, I'm sure we can afford lessons," he replies gently. He pushed away from the wooden frame and sauntered over gently to glance down at the perfectly formed baby boy wiggling around on his blankets.
Charlie's mouth was open wide in an O shape, his eyes and head looking every which way taking in the colors, shapes and new scents around him.
Innocent, sweet and wide-eyed like only a child could be.
Thomas's icy blue obs flitted down to Grace's soft face and misty eyes. She was watching him react to Charlie.
"It still doesn't seem real." He said offhandly. How could it? He'd finally gotten the girl, they had a child together and life was finally good even in this little room where the shovels used to try to reach him through the walls.
Now it was Grace's laughter, Charlie's coo's and soft breathing from his family as they slept deep beside him.
"What doesn't?"
"Any of it." He gestured to the room, Charlie and her. He was at a loss for words to describe how grateful he felt for it all.
"It felt real last night. Especially when my hair got tangled in the bedframe and it took you twenty minutes after we finished to detangle it from the metal." Thomas shook his head and chuckled.
They'd been able to dispel some passion between them last night when Charlie was deep asleep. Unfortunately the metal curls that decorated his metal bedframe had indeed pinned Grace's head in an award position until they finished.
He felt a light tap on his side. He glanced down. She was going for a second light smack. He grabbed her hand and bent forward gently kissed her hand.
Her nose crinkled and her eyes sparkled with mischief as he leaned down and took a silky golden lock and tucked it behind her ear. His breath ghosts hot as it dances between her cheek and ear.
"Keep up the sass Grace. I'll use my tie tonight to keep you bound to the head board." He teased his voice low and husky filled with a silken promise.
She shot him a wicked and seductive side glance as she leaned in to kiss him gently. It was heated and building until Charlie's high pitched squeal squashed the moment.
"Why don't we get Charlie bundled, go out for tea and we'll purchase a camera, eh." He kissed her gently before standing up and smiling down at his son.
"Your father is on a mission Charlie." Grace added as she rose to grab Charlie's things for a day out. She wasn't even dressed herself. The silk nightgown hung precariously from one shoulder.
"Might buy a new tie." He winked at her and walked down the hall, his foot step receding quietly downstairs. Grace laughed and shook her head sending her soft waves cascading gently around her face.
" Maybe slip a little whiskey into your bottle again tonight. Keep you quiet while mummy and daddy play again tonight. " He giggled at his mum in response, unaware that a future sibling was in the making.

I love these 4 women from the show. Gray, complex characters, with their own thoughts, with their mistakes but also with their successes, with defects yes but also with many virtues. The show is about Tommy is true , and the relationship he has with the other characters, but they showed us that these women have their own stories, in which they intersect with Tommy yes, for different reasons, family, love, history, but they think for them, and make their decisions for them, no matter what he thinks.

Grace and Ada, their stories are the internal struggle they have throughout the show. Many criticize Ada for complaining about the Shelbys but at the same time accepting their money, and that is what makes her interesting, her internal struggle, her contradiction, because she loves her family but hates what they do. And in S1, she is influenced by her love for Freddy. And after S3, she says fuck it, I'm a Shelby, I love my family, she starts working, in the family business, but on her own terms. And she finally accepts who she is, and is okay with that. And she becomes more badass, which for me, she was the best badass character of S6.
Grace, she entered the show with her own story, was an undercover spy, full of hatred for the murder of her father. Tommy has nothing to do with her reasons for joining the police force and accepting the mission. But her internal struggle is that through S1, she realizes that neither the Shelbys are as bad as she believed, nor are the police as good. And she begins to know the human side of Tommy, and realizes that although they both come from different worlds, they are still the same, it is the first time that someone really sees her, and accepts her and loves her, just as the same thing happens to him.
But still, she accepted the mission for a reason, for her father, and for his murder, so in the end she has to choose love or duty. And she chooses the two, thinking she can have everything, so she finishes the mission, by informing Campbell where the weapons are, but not before, without making a deal with him, if she tells him where they are, he will leave Tommy and his family alone, she thought she could save Tommy, again. But she was wrong, she couldn't have it all and she left heartbroken and breaking the heart of the man she truly loved.
And then, they didn't show us much of her story, but rather that her struggle, love or duty, continues in Grace. She wanted to start over with the love of her life, but he told her no, two years passed, and she wanted to move on with her life, she did not remain obsessed with him, it was clear that they could not be together. And for many reasons, she shot Campbell, and Polly threatened to kill her if she didn't leave, she couldn't stay there, and he didn't want to leave with her, although deep down, it was what he wanted. But her love for him was stronger than everything, that even though they couldn't be together, she still continued writing to him. And she got married, because a woman had to get married in order to survive, those were different times. But her heart belonged to Tommy, just as his heart belonged to her. And when she got pregnant, she had to choose again, duty or love, and this time she completely chose love. This time she decided to go all in for love, just like he did too. And for two years they were happy. Grace's life, like Tommy's life, is a tragedy, and although she did not deserve that ending, Grace died, loved and loving, the love of her life.

Polly, is the strongest woman in the show, she is even stronger than the men in the show. Her struggle and her pain of having lost her children, of having lost a man, her struggle to accept who she is, and her past, and to find love, it's what makes her one of the most complex and interesting characters to watch.
I think, she found true love in Aberama, and not the painter.
And she found Michael, but it wasn't as easy as she thought it would be. Their relationship is complicated, as are almost all mother-son relationships. She also saw her nephews as her children, but she had to see their return after the war, and see their pain and struggle to move forward. She loved Tommy but she doesn't agree with him, for S5, their relationship was broken, since they were both broken, with their depressions, and their tragedies. I wonder, after seeing Tommy, so broken, and seeing his change, due to Grace's death, if she had returned in S5, alive, would she have changed her relationship with her, seeing how much Tommy needs her, and how much good she did for him?.
And I also believe that her change came from having almost gone through death, when they were going to hang her. I think that experience changed her life, and the way she saw life but especially the way she saw Tommy.
And Jesse Eden, we don't know much about her, but what we do know is enough to love her, she is a woman who fights for women's rights, and for equality, a true feminist. It would have been nice if they had explored her story more, and could have included Ada in the fight for women.
But Jesse, she was not obsessed with Tommy nor did she love him, she used him for her fight, just like he used her. She saw his intelligence, his personality, and his contacts, to be able to continue her fight.

The 4 women were beautiful, intelligent, complex, and manipulative but also soft, kind, brave, and strong.

"It was always Tommy and Grace."
"The slightest smile of Thomas when he see Grace again."
"His eyes towards the end you can feel the pain.. literally no one should ever have to go through losing the only light they have in their lives! Cillian does it so well."
"Grace gave him light but when she died, took it all away, too.. Tommy x Grace forever."
" He only Loved Grace for real in the entire Series."
"Ones favourite one has lost...it gives a lot of pain."
"The first time he heard her, it didn't matter that much, now that she's gone you can tell how much that moment mattered to him."
"You can see the pain in his eyes and you can see that his heart aches for her as he sighs...his eyes say everything and god this music makes it so much more depressing tommy x grace we miss you."
"One of the saddest scenes in the 5th season, right behind the finale. Good shit".
"Goosebumps!!!! They really didn't have to kill her. He was destroyed after her. She was everything in his life."
"YET people are still fighting me saying tommy was better with Lizzie or Tatiana. Like nah grace died in season 3 and he still hallucinates about her I believe until season 6 I'm not sure though but clearly season 5 he did. Grace and Tommy were perfect, and Tommy absolutely loved her. No other relationships that he had after grace was better."
" She really did break his heart by dying and he realized it."
" You break our heart, Grace."
" We all got that 1 love. "
" Grace was the only one for Tommy! She was the only one Thomas actually loved! The only one no one else! She is his safe place!"
" His one true love. "

Why do you think Tommy and Lizzie never, in the 6 seasons, kissed passionately? In their entire marriage they never kissed, it seemed more like a friendship.
But Tommy and Grace....

This scene. It's clear that Lizzie lied, Tommy would never return to France, but why did Lizzie, of all the places she could have chosen, choose a country that Tommy is completely traumatized by, and naming the country is something that would hurt him? Maybe it's to show that she never understood him, never understood Tommy's trauma from the war, and never wanted to understand.

Like this other scene, where Tommy tries to explain his trauma, her response is: when you die I'm going to keep everything that belongs to you.

And the last scene is when she throws the bullets at him and tells him to try again, before calling him a coward. If Lizzie had lived half of what he lived, she would not have been able to endure all the pain he endured. It's not just the war, but the death of the love of his life, the death of his brother, and the death of his friends. She never understood Tommy and she never wanted or tried to understand him, she wanted luxuries, to live in that mansion, she wanted the life but not the man.
But, Tommy is no saint either, he also used Lizzie's pain, her past as a prostitute, to hurt her. Starting in S2, when he tells her that she can quit that job, and then tells her to do it again, just one more time, and she sees Lizzie's pain, he still insists, and she ends up being raped.
After Grace dies, he begins to fuck her, and each time he pays her, treating her like a prostitute. In S4, he even uses her thinking about another woman. He is forced to marry her, because of the baby, and being his wife, even so, he keeps reminding her that for him, he still sees her as a prostitute, he tells her that in his mind he still pays her, and that she is a property.
And in S6, he lets the Mosleys continue humiliating her for her past, as a prostitute.
They were a huge mess together, both equally, and clearly, there was no love in that marriage. Someone who uses your trauma to hurt you does not love you.

No, I'm sorry but it's not like that, it's not, not wanting Tommy to find love after Grace, is not wanting or not enjoying Tommy and Lizzie's toxic and miserable relationship. If you think that's love, okay, but for me it's not, insulting people who don't see that relationship as love is not going to turn into a beautiful relationship.
And S2, it is clear that Tommy has no feelings for Lizzie, and it is not because the writer and the actor who plays Tommy told that , but because they showed it that way.
And also if you think that S2 whole plot line is that Tommy is falling in love with Lizzie, I think you are the one who missed the whole meaning of Tommy's story.
In S2, Tommy is better from the trauma of the war, he doesn't hear the shovels on the wall, he doesn't need drugs, and as Steven Knight said, after Tommy comes back from the war, he is frozen inside, until Grace appears and she unfreezes him. The Tommy of S1E1 would never have had a sexual relationship with May nor would he have hired Lizzie as his secretary. But in S2, he is different, he still respects women. He hired Lizzie, after she told him that she was taking the secretarial course, and he himself told her, he needs someone who looks the other way, with illegal businesses. Michael even says this. And he respects May enough to tell her that he has been in love with another woman for a long time, and he didn't want to continue the sexual relationship, it was so as not to hurt her. Throughout this season, we see that he still misses Grace, even Polly realizes this, and confesses to Grace that he never stopped thinking about her for two years. So you say that I lost the plot line, because S2 is about Tommy being in love with Lizzie mm no, I think it's you who missed the whole story.
It’s so wild to me to be so dead set on only supporting ONE romantic pairing for a specific character that even after the other person literally dies, you essentially just don’t want the surviving person to ever find love again
Also, like, if you’re going to use “he told her to stop being a prostitute and gave her steady employment instead” as an argument to try to say Tommy didn’t have any feelings for Lizzie whatsoever in S2, you are SEVERELY missing the point of that whole plot line

Ok for the anonymous person who keeps sending me messages insulting me. I do not respond to these types of messages, and also if you do it anonymously, you know what you are doing is wrong, otherwise you would show who you are. And this is my blog, where I share my ideas, and my analysis, and what the writer, the actor, etc. says. You are not obliged to read what I say, it is very easy, you go to the block button, as I have done with many Grace haters, Lizzie fans, like you. I can't block you because I don't know who you are.
And what I say are facts is not just what the writer says, but what they show in the show. Because the writer says that Tommy loves Lizzie, in S5, but what they showed us is Tommy telling Grace's hallucination that he loves her, and treating Lizzie like shit. Let's see, we are all different, so maybe for him that is love, for me it is not. But , things like, Tommy was traumatized by Grace's death, yes, because there's only one way to show someone traumatized, and that's what they did.
But there are different relationships, so you can show different relationships and say they are all love. There are relationships such as, for example, BDSM, which would be the relationship between Tommy and Lizzie. And Tommy and Grace's relationship is conventional romantic relationships. So, for me, because of my values, my upbringing, and the way I see love, it's Tommy and Grace. And the other one I don't understand, because, for me, where there is pain, there is no love. So I'm never going to say "ah, yes Tommy and Lizzie are in love" , if that seems like a problem to you, well, this blog is definitely not for you, and you can press the block button.
Now, there are Lizzie fans, who have sent me ask, saying that Tommy and Grace are the most toxic couple, because that person, a couple like them, is toxic, and a relationship like Tommy and Lizzie is love. But it's just our perspectives, and the way we live our lives, relationships, etc. So I would never go to a Lizzie fan blog, in fact, I try to block you all , but for some reason, these posts appear, and being from the opposite side of life, I say what I think, on my blog. But if you can tell me who you are so I can block you and finished this it would be great.
