i hate having a crush but i also love it. like yes i imagine conversations with you and my ears perk up whenever i hear about you from my friends. no i haven’t seen you in literally almost two months. and yes i hate that i wish you were as curious about me that i am about you.

we are so accustomed to only expressing/feeling the full extent of our love for someone once they are gone. when they pass, you want to tell everyone about how amazing they were, you want, you need people to know that they were in your life and that you loved them and they meant something to you. maybe i’m not fully living in the moment, but i feel like the love i’ve had for my grandma wasn’t fully realized until she passed. i didn’t realize the huge impact she had on my life, a big fat thumbprint on the canvas of it. maybe that’s why i like poetry, especially love poems. they’re almost desperate to let people know that yes there was love there and it was real and it meant something to me.
