Blooming is beautiful, even when you are sinking

Do you think the slow death of beauty in mundane things is a marker for the death of a society? Door handles and lamps used to be predominantly beautiful and interesting, but now they are nothing more than *there*. The loss of…character, I suppose…seems to augur an emptiness.
It’s not a complex idea, to note the beauty we find in simple things. And those simple thing are *still there*, but it has become non-normative to fuse the utilitarian to the wondrous.
Here’s a picture of a window taken from the back porch of a house where I stayed in New York. It’s simple, but I think it’s beautiful.

Folks seem to like flowers. Here’s a gentle and tiny blossom just after the rain, color shrouded by clouds.
