Remember when I gave Disney a credit for sticking true to Ariel's original characterization in the remake and having her remain an honest to god dreamer driven by enthusiasm, open mind, strong sense of justice in the face of her father's bigotry and desire for independence and communication regardless of the form in which said communication comes (hence why she was able to interact with the human world and enjoy every second of it - just like she always wanted to - even when she was without her voice)?
How I commended Disney for not opting for a "girlboss" stereotype and, thankfully, not remaking Ariel into a traditional intellectual with advanced academic ability, pursuing conventional higher education and becoming a professor instead of a neurodivergent-coded explorer (the reason many neurodivergent persons, myself included, can identify with both the animation and LA version of Ariel)?
How Disney did not neglect to highlight that courage, curiosity, passion and kindness are just as empowering for women and girls as Matilda-esque overachiever archetype?
Well, looks like modern Disney just threw that last remnant of brilliance they still had left out of the window with Lilo and Stitch remake. Apparently, only achiever women and female characters are allowed to exist.
When I said disabled and neurodivergent women are completely excluded from the modern day feminist/girlboss agenda and people told me I was "overreacting" and just liked "weak and lovesick doormats" guess who was right yet again?
Almost like when I said Wh*don and B*ffy were never feminist and that the show in itself was a red flag indicating the man behind it was a misogynistic abuser.
Almost like when I said that Hans twist was an irreversible step in the direction of sexist pseudo-"progressive" cautionary tales and anti-romance trend in Disney princess films. And in the direction of misrepresenting and mischaracterizing the nature of previous princess stories.
Almost like when I said that the new St*r W*rs movies were never aiming to please any section of the audience or even tell a cohesive story. That both pro R*ylo and the anti crowd should stop fighting each other because neither was ever going to get what they wanted: Ben's character as the sociopathic villain with no redemption or him as a redeemed villain with a healthy future for both him and the title female lead Rey. That it had nothing to do with him at all and everything to do with HER not being allowed a romantic happy ending. Because modern "progressive" media only ever allows women/female characters to suffer and be "built up" through that suffering; as woman's pain is clearly more "empowering" than her "superficial" passion and "selfish" romantic desires.
But I was the "negative one", the one who "just didn't get it". And here we are.

not to be a bitch but we gotta stop giving disney attention, end stop. they think they can do LESS than bare minimum (not even remaining faithful to original material) and make money and they CAN. they’re selling nostalgia and infusing it w right wing propaganda and you’re still giving them time and money

The Angel of Dorkness - The Misadventures of Lara and Kurtis, Part 5
Even more dumb jokes and drawing errors. This time with the partial use of Copics.
Disclaimer:
The art is not good by any means. I haven’t improved in 20+ years and I know my limitations.
I’m not a native English speaker. Corrections are welcome. (Though it would be too late to implement them in the drawings obviously.)

First, Lara was supposed to suggest vapes. But they weren't a thing in the early 2000s and the misleading term "light cigarettes" wasn't forbidden yet, so I scrapped that.

This was inspired by a tie hanger in my closet, which I use for belts. (I always thought it was for belts, but somebody suggested it's actually meant for ties. 😅)

I used Copics to colour the Chibis, but I don't dare to use them on the cartoons yet. They're such an unforgiving medium.

Not exactly based on a 18+ fanfic by @tasteofthedivine93, since I had the idea before I read it, but certainly inspired by it.
Bonus sketch dump.

The alternative costumes were inspired by comments from @meldelen , who prefers more realistic additional outfits. That was really fun to draw.
There is a newly drawn, fully Copic coloured version of the easter skribble but I don't like it at all, so I won't post it here.

I was doing some research on Murti’s notes because, surprise! My one shots has turned into a fanfic and I wanted to see if the ideas, the whole background I made for Malini aligns with what Murti had planned for the trilogy and…

TEN DOCUMENTS OF KURTIS AND THE LUX VERITATIS? oh this man love his creation. It’s saddens me how much effort he put into this character and his background to just be push to the border.
Damm you Eidos, I fucking despise you, I can’t believe how burnout you made them team and didn’t even have a second choice.
