Although the young spiderling hadn’t been a resident for long, she still felt a sense of ease around the bartender that she had rarely felt elsewhere. It’s probably why she sought him out as often as she did…

Waiting for the usual excitement of the celebration to die down and for the other residents to give their well wishes, she perched herself at the edge of the bar, a soft smile of amusement on her face as she watched the older gent hide his gratitude behind gruff acknowledgments and a roll of his eyes.

Eventually, during a quiet moment, she leaned over the counter and placed a small wrapped package behind the bar, mouthing “Happy Birthday” with a wink in answer to his raised brow.

Even the scrungliest of hell-dwellers deserved to feel fancy once in a while. Matching golden cufflinks and collar clips in the shape of poker chips and dice might be a cliche… but she had a feeling it would make him smile even a little bit~

It wasn’t so much that Husk didn’t care for birthday parties, he just hadn’t seen the point, considering he was dead. The fact that anyone thought his existence was worthy of celebration had tugged on heart strings he feared had been severed long ago. He may not be a resident of the Hazbin Hotel, but it seemed to be healing him by proximity.

Though the circumstances of her arrival were unfortunate, Husk had made fast friends with Angel’s sister. Molly had all the same spunk and charm, but it appeared she had inherited the rational thought gene. Probably snagged it by being born first - a fact she never let her brother live down.

Husk hadn’t expected gifts, and certainly nothing as classy as these. He almost worried they were wasted on a washed up loser like him, but when Molly looked at him, he felt renewed hope for himself.

“Thanks Moll Doll,” the bartender murmured affectionately. “Now I’ve just gotta plan a night on the town to wear these bad boys.”

Niffty skittered up to Husk with a manic grin, climbing onto one of the stools in a bit of a struggle.

"Kitty!! I drew you a present for your birthday!" She beamed, setting it onto the counter bouncing ecstatically.

The bartender then picked up the piece of paper with a raised brow, seeing the drawing of him, Alastor, and Niffty... him then turning it to the back.

Any other parental figure might be horrified to discover art depicting them and their “family” drenched in blood. For Husk, it was just another Tuesday.

Despite her often unhinged unconventional subject material, Niffty had a knack for creativity. If she was focussed on creating rather than destroying, Husk felt it worthy of praise. He told himself that it was a conditioning method - positive reinforcement - but deep down, he knew he was also just a sucker for the little bug.

“Thanks, Niff,” Husk ruffled her hair a bit. “So, who’d ya kill?” he gestured to the first drawing.

There is a nice small birthday cake waiting for him on the bar top. Neatly designed, not something too terribly sweet looking. However the message was written in black frosting, and not exactly...conventional.

"You've aged."

The card to the side was just a red circle dot sticker with a crudely drawn signature toothy yellowed smiley face....

Deadpan as ever, Husk quirked a brow at the Radio Demon’s calling card. To the average observer, this would appear a trivial mockery. To Husk, however…

Alastor’s attention was not easily obtained - his favor less so. The fact that Husk was regarded with a gift, and that the significance of the day had been remembered at all, was quite…Special didn’t feel like the right word. He’d never be conceited enough to posit that he stood atop a pedestal that grand in his keeper’s opinion. But it was still something.

Grabbing a fork, Husk scooped up a bite of the cake - red velvet with frosting of the same shade. Even when he was acting altruistic, Alastor had to remind the bartender just who deserved his gratitude.

Four arms curled around the barcat from behind, squeezing him as he was attacked with kisses from a very excitable spider!

"Happy birthday, old man," Angel smirked, pressing a particularly long kiss to the side of Husk's jaw.

The unexpected embrace prompted Husk’s hackles to poof over his tensing shoulders. With an involuntary chirp, the bartender fell victim to the barrage of affection, not even ashamed that it set him purring.

“I’m five years older than you, Angel,” he countered with a laugh, “so watch who ya call old.”

“I ain’t used to bein’ celebrated like this, but hey, free booze is free booze.”

"115 is an auspicious number. I would know — I turn that age every other year."

“Leap year baby?” the bartender joked. He hadn’t done much mingling over drinks outside of his hotel duties, so it felt nice to be on the other side of the counter for a change.

Lilith had become one of his favorite guests. With the poise of a queen and the sharp wit of a femme fatale, she made for a truly memorable conversationalist. Charlie and Lucifer had their own charm, but sometimes Husk needed a more grounding energy.

“And here I thought ladies didn’t go ‘round talkin’ about their age.”

"Happy birthday!" Ben laughed as he draped his arms over Husk's shoulders and pressed a kiss to his lips, bouncing with excitement. "It'll be a long day!"

“That time again?” Husk feigned ignorance, smirking playfully against Q’s lips. “I s’pose we should celebrate, hm?”

The Overlord had a party scheduled in the casino that evening - it had been on the books for months. Husk wondered if he would finally get away with a sarcastic jest that didn’t elicit an eye-roll or oblivious reminder from his assistant.

“Though, I doubt we’d get up to anything more entertaining than Marcus having to be nice to me for a whole damn day,” he chuckled.
