you know i was thinking: given ollie's tech knowledge and engineering skills, had he not been evil, he probably could've been a great asset along with solon when they got stranded in cosmic fury.

of course, they managed without him, and stepped up to help where each of them could. but kind of tying into my previous idea of having ollie's evil-ness being more tied to his character (via feeling under appreciated) they could use his not being there to make a point of how he is helpful to the team as a whole.

it's 2023 and amelia's still rocking an iphone 8 pro

i found this small twt thread about amelia being red, and for the most part i think it does sum up my feelings about her in the position and her character this season.

overall i felt that she was the only one to change drastically from df -> cf, but figured it was just because characters aren't stagnant and changing people. but rather than change organically, it does feel like she just abruptly lost aspects of her that were core to her character.

i'm glad they didn't drop the ball with the "first full time female red ranger*" but yeah, it doesn't necessarily feel like amelia

*- just a random footnote, i always felt this title was weird, like yeah it's accurate, and i guess the distinction is needed given how the other two were written. but it always felt like the famous birthday tags "#_ born in florida,"/"#_ born in orlando, florida". they're really not different, but are?

finished cosmic fury: some initial thoughts

not that i don’t appreciate javi (chance) being able to sing, but kind of sad that was the entire last scene (with some cuts of amelia/aiyon/billy)

i don’t think the “cool, cool, coolio” “ending line” was as bad as people made it out to be. like i sure, the final words of your 30 year franchise ending should probably be more sentimental, but the entire ending was just some dude singing anyways. idk

i wish they gave ollie some evil villain climax. like lowkey he was a flop villain for most of the series (as in he never really “won” against the rangers/they always beat him).

glad javi got some decent spotlight this season, and glad they made aiyon more competent while keeping his generally lax demenor / humor.

i like how they show izzy and fern communicating with each other in a healthy way. and i think the “protection plot” was decently executed.

i like how fern’s powers are based on solon.

speaking of, i’m glad she was also able to shine, and really felt like an active asset of the team outside of tech/base person. i think a lot of the side characters (lani, pop-pop, tarrick, etc.) though not in a lot, we’re all able to shine in their own way.

i think everyone pretty much stayed the same (more or less) aside from amelia. i think they really did a solid job justifying why she’s the leader. i’ll probably make a whole separate post with my thoughts on that overall

the ending with zayto did get me emotional. like when they were all saying goodbye ahhh.

the zedd ending was just.. ok. idk. got to let that one sink in ig

that’s it for now, overall, it’s a solid entry, though i don’t think there's anything about the writing or characters that going to completely shock you or was particularly spectacular.

solid 7/10 from me for now
