I'm definitely not the guy to go to for meta posting but it is so interesting (and by interesting i mean heartbreaking) to think about how clint barton spent most of his life looking for positive love / attention because he quite literally had 0 of that from the day he was born to the day he joined the Avengers. Like, all parental figures in his life failed him so bad, and then any romantic relationship he tried to form was also built on lies / them not actually caring about him.
To the point that when he's actually given up, he meets the girl who schedules appts for him and fights his battles with him and would go anywhere/do anything with him.
not fair of them to rip that relationship from our hands a la emotional and physical turmoil due to the phantom rider being a sicko.
