Akira Kurosawa, DREAMS Painting shots to help practice composition. In the process of making thumbnails I often find myself relying too much on big shapes of contrasting value to bring the drama. While this shot has its bright pops of light that move your eyes around, the boy is nearly lost in the trees in terms of value, emphasized more with a single, bold color. I’ve done my share of post apocalyptic environments but am challenging myself to imagine our future flooded coastlines while also showing human potential and ingenuity. A less bleak way of life than the usual mutants crouching around trashcan fires.
