The Flatiron Mural by Derek Besant.
Located in downtown Toronto, the Flatiron building built in 1891 by architect David Roberts was the first flatiron preceding the famed New York building. In 1998, Canadian artist, Derek Besant painted a mural that mirrors the building directly across from it. The mural consists of over 50 panels attached to a steel frame mounted on the wall and gives off the effect that the painting is fluttering in the wind being held up by screws.

Third year industrial designer David Suhami designed the ‘Animal pocket knife’. He developed the toy during his studio course at Shenkar College of Engineering and Design in Tel Aviv, Israel. The piece is inspired by the swiss army knife that is offering different tools for every occasion. The animal pocket knife is nothing but a funny interpretation of this little helpful tool, combining the idea of the army knife and a jungle safari in Africa. You can put together up to 81 different combinations such as giraffe, antelope and a rhino.

At Christian Dior’s Autumn/Winter 2012 Couture show, its new creator director, Belgian designer Raf Simons, made his grand debut even before one model walked down the runway. By decorating five grand rooms inside a Parisian mansion with one million real flowers, he was showing how he would bring a fresh and modern approach to the French fashion house. The rooms were covered from floor to ceiling in a solid tapestry of flowers which included blue delphiniums, white orchids, pink peonies and a wide range of colored roses. For the most part, only one type of flower in a single color was used in each room. The blooms were meant to pay homage to Christian Dior’s “Flower Woman” and show us his love and passion for flowers and gardens. Said Simons, the flowers are “almost a metaphor for the collection as a whole.”
