One happy grubby boy after rally today! 🫣

First proper ride for the best part of 3 months, my bum certainly felt all 2 hours of the saddle!! Ed’s feeling fantastic and full of himself, he was VERY excited to be back in amongst his pony club boyfriends and everyone kept trying to undress each other and playing bitey-face 🙈

He’s still very stiff to the right but super nice and supple on the left rein so plenty to work on but plenty to be happy with - he was more than happy to show off his new cantering trick, just need to build up enough strength to keep it going now! He was even happy to do some trot poles and even went over a wee crosspole, absolutely STOKED with how well he’s moving in the Albion 🥳

Poor thing was absolutely knackered after rally though, he would’ve quite liked to be carried home if he could fit on my shoulders 🙈😴 He’s worked very hard today, couldn’t ask for more from him!

Definitely committing to taking the sausage to Amberley Cup this year, thankfully not too much canter in the Rider 3 tests so we should be on track for August if all goes well! 🤞

Supergroom to the rescue once more! 💪😜

Out eventing with mum at Melwood today, Gem loaded super easy and was cool as a cucumber the whole day! Oxford wasn’t a fluke, she really IS that much better out by herself 🤷‍♀️🥴

Decent test with a score of 58%, she did well to keep it together but we ALL knew what she was there for - and the cross country was a VERY full up 55cm, a lot of them would pass as 60s quite happily 😬 Just a few runouts at some seriously spooky ones (there was a huge big blue and white boat that no one likes the look of AND a huge big corner!!), but both looking very happy after a speedy cross country! Madam was well frothed up and mucky at the end but somehow still full of running, I think we’ll end up clipping out the rest of her neck and belly cos she was that disgusting a basically full body wash didn’t help 🫣🙈

Show jumping they went clear, super easy round and Gem just settled in like she’d done it a million times! It’s VERY obvious she’s an eventer and she’s got the bug well and truly, that pony (and mum!) was having the absolute time of her life out there today 🤣

Timed it just perfectly to be all done and dusted by the time the rain started, Gem just about put herself in the float while we were loading gear and we had two happy little horses in the paddock at the end of the day! 🥳

Next up is Roydvale at the end of July (not me riding thankfully 🙈), then Amberley Cup comes right after that and then it’s the Belfast combined training in mid August! 😮‍💨😵‍💫

Ed’s decided we no longer trot anywhere, we ✨canter✨ 🫣🙈

Dude is absolutely FULL of himself (and full of running!!), a very nice change from where he was but I’d like at least a little bit of speed control back 😅 Very obvious to us that he’s feeling fantastic in his skin, long may it last! Now just back to building up strength again, he’s lost some topline and he’s stiffer on the right rein than usual but I’d expect that with the amount of work (or lack of it!) that he’s had lately - it’s a hard life being a pasture puff apparently 😮‍💨😴

If he keeps going like this he might get the call up for Amberley Cup instead of Gem who thinks she’s a real eventing pony now 😜😜

adriana smith who was forcibly kept on life support after being brain dead to incubate her fetus due to anti abortion laws in georgia, usa will be taken off life support this week. she had an emergency c-section today and the child was born prematurely and is in the nicu. her family is raising funds for hospital bills (that the state didn't even pay for despite forcing this "treatment" btw!) and for the new baby. donate if you can. Lord help me we might have Eddie back! 🙌

Tried a new saddle today and he was HEAPS better even doing podgy old flatwork, he felt fantastic and way more like himself than he has been lately - still a bit of grumpy ears but much less frequent and he was so much more forward and happy, even popped himself into a wee canter which was very pleasantly unexpected! 😱

Just highlights the huge importance of proper saddle fit, I’d had a sneaking suspicion he was still unhappy with the Bates despite being reflocked the last couple weeks which led to his grumping so very happy to be proved right! 🤞

Poor Eddie’s still out of action on the riding front, very stiff and grumpy about arena work so hopefully some good long hacks will free him up a bit more and make things tolerable for him again (trying very hard to be realistic and realise my pony isn’t broken but it’s that time of year where everyone’s miserable and I’m no exception!). Hopefully a new saddle on the way for him to try, we’ve been using a witch hazel spray for his ouchy bits to see if it makes a difference in comfort but it’s still early days to see some improvement 🤞 - horses eh, why do we bother! 🫣 He might just be my inhand show buddy this year, I need to train for some marathons to make sure I can keep up with him in the ring 🙈

Still we trudge on, we both had a nice walk around pony club before we were interrupted by this little bug in the arena - wasn’t very happy getting the boot from X but he toddled off into the bushes looking very confused about this strange lady and her even stranger horse who somehow didn’t get prickled when he stuck his nose right in its face and had a good whiff 🙈
