i’ve always loved falcomon’s design but he is so cool in survive… 🙏🙏

there’s a lot to learn about digimon and the distortions they emerge from, and a lot of very different people who partake in hunting them! the driving force of this particular story is Lark’s interest in documenting it all- from the unique bonds between partners that spark evolution, and the technicalities of digital distortions, to simply how people live and coexist with digimon in a world only barely aware of their existence at all.

Though it’s played for laughs a bit, I’m thinking about Kiyoshiro’s school involvement and the thread of loneliness in his character. We know he sped through his actual education, getting a master’s degree at 13, and when we see him with people besides Hiro and Ruli, it’s usually his adult coworkers in a professional setting. Otherwise we tend to see him by himself or with Digimon (though even Jellymon sometimes leaves for days), as opposed to Hiro and Ruli having their own circles of friends and acquaintances. He’s missed out on a lot of regular life, and is clearly trying to get some of it back, but doesn’t seem to have had much luck connecting with his peers.

So when this moment from Strange Love happened, it stuck out to me in how shocked he was to be considered part of the team and how happy he was about it. He has a group now! They feel stronger with him there! I also loved to see him effectively leading the charge for the team battle against RareRaremon, solidifying not just the team dynamic but how confidently he’s taken his place in it too. 

…..This to say, it’s just really endearing to see him go from being alone and struggling to connect, to having friends that will go out of their way just to bring him some fancy donuts :’)
