I mostly read nonfiction but sure, got any recs?
I’m going to have to go dark soon. Things I’m downloading:
recipes
current prices for goods
weather reports (we should be good for the next year)
emergency medical information
Voan martial law codes and curfews and rules
Tapai martial law, same
Tapai regular law, especially wrt purples – I’m probably just going to download their whole website
Information on credits in Tapa
Information on what internationally constitutes a war crime
Information on martial conduct for Tapa, Voa, Anitam
Maps
information for fixing our appliances should we need to
natural disaster information
so much music, you have no idea
porn, although magically I didn’t spring this year. but that means next year’s going to be really bad, apparently? and not everyone I know is lucky enough to be so young
pictures of babies
is there anything else I’m missing?

I’m kicking myself! Here’s a few more:
Planting, growing and harvesting information for our growing season
Pictures of leaves with various blights so we can recognize them early
Pictures of bugs, same reason
Soil composition info
Irrigation info
Fertilizer info
Animal emergency first aid info, plus feeding stuff
Emergency services contact info using my old something (before the everythings came out, you know)
... I know most of this already, but it’s good to have a reference

Done. Good luck staying clean.
[ ooc: @luminousalicorn ] @visiblelight Because of laws preventing private communication we need to say this here: our first shipment never got to you because of the war. We understand that you care about your food’s safety and will do our best to reassure our occupiers that our motives in sending you food are pure.
We hope you are managing the food crisis well, considering, and that we will be able to conduct business in the future that is less … adversely affected by current events.

There are rumors that Tapa is going to jam the internet throughout some or all of Voa soon. Download whatever you need now.

I’m not sure who cares about what’s been happening the last few weeks but it might shed some light on what’s been going on at the border:
People voted to stay because they were confident that Voa would be able to hold onto the province entire until spring was over. That didn’t happen. Pregnant women and their immediate families -- at least the ones in my area -- are moving west. They took much of the existing harvest with them so they could have cash to coast on when they set up.
Imde’s not lost but the border is definitely being contested.
I stayed. I think I could do okay in Tapa’s credit system. I’ve been looking into their schooling options and they’re really different from the Voan ones. Immediate plans are more up in the air for obvious reasons.
PSA to anyone else right at the border: if you’re more cooperative you have a higher chance of not dying.

[ooc: tractor deleted this post after the occupation began in earnest]
@alchemicalsilver said
Those of you living in territory which may be occupied by the enemy
DO NOT ACCEPT TREATMENT AT TAPAI “FIELD HOSPITALS”
They will sterilize you
If you are pregnant they will abort the baby
I’m not saying you should grab a gun and fight back if some goon tries to- wait, no, I am saying that!
Fuck transnational bureaucracies who would never lift a finger to help you and fuck doing what they say. Nobody ever saved themselves from extinction by following laws against defending themselves. If you’re going to die either way, better to take one of those babysnatchers with you
Be strong, Voa prevails

I think the community can come together to support some women but not all of them and so we’d have to pick.
(probably the younger ones or the ones that don’t think they can live in a city would stay)
(i hate this)
some of the women in our town are pregnant, they’re the ones who are the most worried about staying. they don’t know if tapa’s going to make them pay for a child credit.
I’m looking on the internet and getting contradictory info. the three options are:
they’ll be fine because the baby was conceived under voan rule
they’ll be fine IF it takes tapa a season to take our province but not if it happens before the babies are born
they’ll be fine IF it takes tapa a season to move the line to their house, personally, after which tapa law immediately applies
can someone help me out here??

the vote wasn’t even close. people generally are going to stay.
no one knows how they would get a job in a city and this is the work we know and have done for generations
I guess the younger adults could do it but they’d be leaving their baby cousins.
I’m looking up more information about Tapa law just in case. my mom thinks I shouldn’t worry so much
we still have to talk about special cases though, stay tuned

This morning Tapa declared war on Voa. See here for how to safely travel home if you are abroad. They have announced that they are seeking the means to achieve domestic food security; until this is accomplished, Tapa is on rationing. See here for ration protocol details if you live in Tapa or a protectorate.
Governor Avalor’s office released this statement:
Despite our endeavors to audit and assure the safety of our food supply as quickly as possible, our efforts to find a peaceful solution to Allocator Savo’s orchestration of disaster have failed. Tapa has indicated that they will not settle for a restoration of the status quo, even if Allocator Savo were to be extrajudicially put to death or extradited.
Internal debate among the governors about whether to execute Allocator Savo regardless are ongoing. But Tapa and their allies in this matter have made it known that their intended war of aggression is not about retaliation against the instigator of the hysteria. It is about their belief that a war and, should they take territory, their own auditing process, will be a better path towards clean food for all than permitting Voa to internally address a problem which has hit our people harder than anyone.
I know our soldiers are ready to defend Voa against this invasion. Civilian populations near the border will find increased train service available to take them west if they wish to travel.
