tbh.. i find the winners being celestial bodies sorta not very good? like i under WHY it started but as fandom lore i dont really see why it stuck around. it doesnt add anything charactarwise beyond a rather constricted theme that separates characters from other characters. i feel like theres this unnecessary want to catagorize things and make them unlike other events when i think the parallels are actually WAY more interesting then making them total opposites? idk. also we r gonna run out lol.

I feel bad, but I don’t know how invested I am in Past life, for one, my favorite player isn’t in (shoutout to touching grass, good for him), and my other favorite players are basing with people that I (unfortunately, I feel bad about this too) don’t really like, and find difficult to watch (just as a personal preference)

Maybe I’ll just watch one pov this season, but I’m not really enjoying this one, and feel kinda guilty about the reasons why lol

An interesting conversation I had with a friend was the length of a life series episode, which was better.

I argued that 30 minute episodes were better as they showed more quality and took out unnecessary dialogue. It’s nice hearing players have conversation but if I wanted to hear a long ass conversation, I’ll just tune into a stream or vod watch.

They argued that hour long videos are better as you get more content, more interactions and less things out of context because videos aren’t as spliced.

So it’s quality vs quantity

I do see their points, but the out of context one doesn’t make sense to me. Yeah I had no context on why Impulse, Tango and Ren are called the gluten fellas, I didn’t know why Grian’s team were calling themselves the villains. But that’s not Cleo’s fault, that’s not Scott’s fault. Their episodes are shorter but that’s because they weren’t there when those teams came up with their themes, why should they have that context when the two barely interacted with those teams? If you only watched Ren you wouldn’t get the jokes about Hot Tub Time Machine, but I guess his video is better because he’s talking longer.

I know full well that fans want to talk about who they think or want to win, but it’s so frustrating to engage with the fandom because I don’t want to talk about who’s going to win or why this person needs to win. I open up reddit, the first post is “who I think will win!”, I go into a discord channel and one minute in someone will ask “who do you want to win?” I open up tumblr or even TikTok and it’s the same thing.

This is a me problem and I know that this is a popular fandom discussion, but my god do I want it to stop. I just want to see cool fanart and talk about who my favourite teams are, I don’t want to hear your reasoning on why popular choice three deserves to win.

Someone asked one of the big pearl fan blogs how they felt about the recent confession sent here about Pearl not forgiving Scott (they didn't say what the ask said, just gave them the link and said "thoughts?") and they responded with this:

"My thoughts on that are that I have ever single confession blog blocked and when I see a new one I block those too. So I will not be reading whatever it is, whether that one happens to be innocuous or not. They are toxic drama mongers that only give some of the worst people in the fandom the chance to completely anonymously say stupid and sometimes horrible things, that they then post under the guise of wanting to be a “free space” for discussion. Those free spaces then inevitably turn into grounds for unnecessary and sometimes gross discourse that I want no part in. There’s a reason new people have to create new confession blogs every two or three months and it’s because the old ones inevitably succumb to being toxic cesspools. If you have something to say you think is so controversial it can’t be said where you’ll get notifications about it, it might not be worth saying at all."

And I was wondering how you felt about that?

idgaf if people block me or confession blogs in general. i get the community can be toxic but like... idk man, im the one blocking out some of the grosser shit, im the one making sure to tag things properly. i want people to have spaces for discussions. and if u think im a toxic drama mongerer, thats on you. you dont know me, you cant make assumptions about me based on a dumb gimmick blog i made on a whim at like 16. we cant just pretend that the trafficblr community is all sunshine and rainbows all the time lmao and we cant pretend that people dont get chased off their accounts for saying the coldest of takes

Scott, Etho and Scar (I'd say Bdubs too but he's probably floating between teams more) is such a fun team and I'm seeing too few people talking about that.

This Fandom being stuck in the past (The Desert, The Ranch, The Coral Isle, whatever) is the only reason the Fandom got so big for so long.

Like, no, the Players are not 'Still in the [insert previous base here].'

WE are.

And that's OK.

Because the Famdom would truly be dead if we weren't.

People project their own feelings onto the players more than they think.

Sometimes, to the point of blatantly ignoring what the players *actually* feel or worse, ignore what players have said *out loud*.

The worst example I can think of is Pearl's Double Life Finale.

The last words she said after she died literally being, "Scott..., I guess I forgive you after all."

Copy-pasted! Verbatim!

And YET, I still see posts and fics saying that she's bitter and resentful and refuses to let go!

ANOTHER example; Scott's feelings at the end of Limited Life.

NO! He is NOT mad at Martyn for killing him out of nowhere!

He said, and i quote, "...I wouldn't have it any other way."

Yes, you can twist a character to fit your story, but at that point, with these depictions, you *have* to label it OOC.

Because it is.
