Meet Ahmad Aldany

Ahmad Aldany is a disabled teenager living in Gaza. He was born into this world already a victim of the Israeli occupation, with lifelong health conditions impacting his bones from exposure in utero to gas from a phosphorus bomb fired in 2008.

Two years ago, Israel destroyed his home and displaced his family, forcing them, like so many other Palestinians, into a life of instability--moving from place to place in search of safety.

He witnessed horrific scenes no child should ever see: destruction, and constant fear. Ahmed wakes up at night to the sound of explosions and screams at the top of his voice because he is afraid.

The healthcare infrastructure was decimated, leaving him unable to receive the treatment he needs for his disability.

Now, the famine has become so severe that he goes long days without eating.

Chaos prevails. Soldiers watch as if it's a game, opening fire on the crowds. Many are killed by bullets, others trampled to death under the stampede.

A Gazan’s gaze at a loaf of bread is like no other…

It’s not just a glance at food — it’s a glimpse of life pulled from the jaws of hunger, of dignity reclaimed from the ruins, of a long‑delayed hope that feels like a mother’s embrace calming a frightened child.

The world may see a loaf of bread as a commodity, aid, or a number in a report.

But here in #Gaza, a father sees a small victory over death, a mother sees the warmth of a table that has lost almost everything, and a family sees a fragile roof over a house with no walls.

Each loaf a child eats here is praised a hundred times over, because reaching it feels like surviving certain death, like pulling a life from under the rubble, like beating the flames of bombing and starvation for one more night.

This is the reality for my family, trying to survive one day at a time, one loaf at a time, one dream at a time, amid a siege, destruction, and a long, merciless war.

MY FAMILY IS NOT DOING WELL!!

My 4-year-old sister is struggling with chickenpox with a weakened immune system and a stunted growth due to two years of malnutrition. She’s extremely traumatized and screams when she hears the slightest loud noise. My 17-year-old sister keeps fainting due to starvation and lives with constant headaches. My older brothers are mourning the loss of a close friend. My mother is sick, exhausted and breaking down. As for me, for a week I’ve been feeling extreme pain in my teeth and ears.

We spend hours at the market trying to find something affordable, negotiating to no avail. We spend hours walking around, trying to find a new apartment, because the room we live in is infested with rats and cockroaches that bite us, run over us when we try to sleep and contaminate the little food we have. But everything just costs too much. 1kg of sugar is $150. One 25kg sack of flour is $1,000, and prices keep rising, commissions too. Our current rent is $500 every month. We need help, we’re drowning here.

I know even outside of Gaza people are struggling and donating is hard. I swear I understand that and I’m not forcing you. But please, please just share if you see this post. There is someone out there who can help us and I just need help to reach them.

Hello, my name is Omar Abu Meiry, and I am from Gaza, Palestine. My family and I have endured unimaginable hardships due to war, displacement, and loss.

I am a father who tragically lost my three children, Shihab, Hanin, and Sanad, to a rare genetic disease (BVVL), as Gaza’s healthcare system is overwhelmed and lacks the necessary resources to provide adequate care. My wife, Sarah, and I have faced repeated displacement, the destruction of our home, and the loss of our jobs due to the ongoing war.

Despite everything, we hold on to the hope of rebuilding our lives and fulfilling our dream of becoming parents to healthy children. But we cannot do it alone.
