Trans Terror

A tumblr dedicated to bringing the most visceral fears of trans people out into the open, and dispelling them with love, acceptance, and validity.  All opinions are from a singular person and do NOT reflect the whole of the trans community.

Trans Bisexual and Pansexual people are also valid as well. Gender Identity and Sexual Preference is just as fluid as everything else about us.

reminder that it's perfectly normal to question your gender identity and change your labels/pronouns. you are not weird or strange. you're valid. and you are loveable no matter what.

Post 001: The Purpose of this Blog
I have been weighing the idea of a blog such as this for a few years.  The primary reasoning for hesitation is simply because I really wasn’t in a mental state that was appropriate for something like this.  Without the nuance to really argue against feelings that I was having about my transition, I really wasn’t ready to deal with other people commenting on the most vulnerable aspects of my life and perpetually making my mental state worse. However, now that I’ve come to terms with the issues I was having, I wanted to reach out and share my experiences and opinions, and hope to help Trans, Non-Binary, and Questioning individuals on navigating these weird monkey-brain antics and understand that they are not the only ones dealing with these thoughts that could otherwise be considered “invasive” or “harmful” by people not able to sympathize. Struggles during transition are a rare discussion to have, and while struggling with coming out and beginning one’s journey to transition are incredibly important to have, I also think it’s important to talk about the struggles during transition as well- whether they are mental or physical, and encourage people who are transition and experiencing the same or similar aspects of the subject spoken about to not feel shame or fear or anguish over them.  That they are valid as trans people despite their experiences and their introspection.
The name is meant to be jarring- I know that’s probably the one thing that will be criticized exponentially, as well as the possibility that some of the topics and subjects may seem taboo to speak about.  I think- at least for me- the thoughts that some, if not most of us, deal with in private can instill a feeling of dread and uncertainty.  The experiences, when trying to open up to other Trans-identifying people, sometimes don’t instill the reaction of empathy and empowerment that a trans person was desiring.  Instead, they are attacked and berated for “not being trans enough.”   Does this happen every time?  No, not at all.  But I’ve seen it happen enough in circles that I frequent that it’s concerning.  This is primarily the reason for this blog. Whether it’s distasteful pushing of “not being masculine” or “not being feminine” enough during transition, to being berated for “Just pick a gender and deal with it” while they are taking hormones (two things that I’ve been subject to personally), to being chastised for having opinions that are believed to be ‘inconceivable’ while going through transition-  these things should not be considered acceptable amidst the LGBT+ community. Hence- this blog. Now, I will fully admit first and foremost that I can only speak as an FTM.  I can’t speak for MTFs.  This is the reason that I have Submissions and Asks open.  This way MTF individuals can be included as well.  THIS IS ALSO NOT A BLOG FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE ‘ONLY TRANSITIONING’ AS WELL.  This is for everyone in the Gender and Non-Conforming spectrum of the LGBT+ community, but it does put a certain focus on aspects of transition and hormone treatment. Regardless of any preconceived notion on the purpose of this blog or the posts that will come after- welcome.  You are valid.  You are in no way any less trans because of the struggles you are facing.

Welcome to the Blog
This blog is something that has been inspired through the my own struggles, my own fears, and my own pain when it comes to Transition.  I’ve transitioned for about 5-6 years now, and have been through the ringer, whether it was due to people’s treatment of me, or my own mental gymnastics as I continued the process. I am FTM, however if you notice, Asks and Submissions are allowed.  I can only speak of one aspect of Transitioning.  Submissions and Asks are open for the MTF sisters to be able to offer up their own experiences and advice, as well as everyone in between.
This blog is Non-Binary friendly, this blog is gender non-conforming friendly, this blog is cis friendly as well, and is meant as a safe place to ask questions- even if they’re deemed offensive by the majority of the community.   I will not respond to blatant bigotry, violence will be reported, and continued harassment will be met with a swift and vicious blocking. NOTE:  While I do have some experience in crisis intervention, I can NOT legally respond and handle legitimate crisis situations.  Please contact the number that will best assist you. Here is a list of Suicide and Crisis Hotlines by country.
Here is a link to the Trans Lifeline which includes both US and Canada hotline numbers.  Spanish extension now available! ANOTHER NOTE:  This Blog and myself are very US Centric- however, we WILL take Non-US submissions.  Just add in the tags during a Submission that it’s Non US, and the country it pertains to!  If you’re uncomfortable with posting your country, simply say Non-US!
