Goodbye, Eddheads.

I love Eddsworld. Always have, always will. After finishing up Eddsworld Legacy I’ve really enjoyed watching the fandom go through its own internal fads (tomatordedd, red army, paultrk, etc). It’s been so rewarding to see this many people engaging with the show and its characters - it made it all feel worth it.

However, last night a perfect storm of poor mental health and rising frustrations lead to me losing my cool and using some regrettable language towards a small subsection of the fandom. In short, they were harassing someone and I called them cunts. So, now seems like a pretty decent time to formally take my leave.

When I left the show back in March I did so with the hope of happily co-existing with the Eddsworld fandom but it’s clear to me now how naive that was. Every time I mention Eddsworld it spurs hashtags and rumours and riles up the fandom. I lightheartedly confirm a ship between fictional characters and suddenly real-life people are being hounded with private messages, tweets, and emails. I joke about finding weird Eddsworld fan art and people start campaigns to harass not only the artists but also the subjects of said art; it’s just too much.

So this is the end. Again. From now on I won’t mention Eddsworld, I won’t answer questions about Eddsworld, and if Eddsworld continues, I won’t be among its audience. I’m sorry, but I’m out.
