So like almost immediately after Adrian & Leandra move into the Hawke estate Adrian makes sure that Anders has a key and knows about the Darktown entrance and it starts as a "in case of emergencies" kind of thing but eventually evolves into a "yeah you can just come and go as you please man, I don't care" thing. So Anders is just kind of in the house all the time. But they both just kind of forget to mention this pseudo-couch surfing/psuedo-housemate situation to anyone else and so a couple of people in the friendgroup, after having the experience of showing up to the house at a weird time of day when Adrian is gone and finding Anders just kind of In There, chilling, a little too comfortable and/or possibly having just woken up, just kind of come to the conclusion that he's sleeping with Adrian's mom

One of my favourite persistent headcanons is that some elven Circle mages grow vhenadahls.

Little ones. Bonsai, we'd call them, although the method of growing bonsai is somewhat different to the method of magically shrinking a tree so it'll fit on your windowsill and then loudly denying to any Templars nearby that this is in any way a religious thing, no, don't be daft, it's not that elves like trees. That's racist. It's that the leaves have useful herbal properties, the bark makes good staves once released from its shrinking spell, and besides, it's good for the apprentices to have a basic familiarity with what trees look like. Yes, even the human ones. It aids primal magic. How are they supposed to learn to manipulate trees if they never see one?

They're totally vhenadahls, though. Every elf in the Circle knows it. They can't paint them or hang things from the branches or dance around them on festival days (too obvious, and besides, they're not vhenadahls), but they're the right species, grown in the right way (or as close as possible, given the circumstances), and passed down from elven mage to elven mage through the generations. A little whisper of culture, hiding in the shadow of the Circle.
