“I have a list of chimney sweeps who stole dogs from parks!” Someone yells, throwing a shoe.

“You seriously think no chimney sweepers could possibly ever steal from a home?” Another cries.

“Only a dog thief would even want to crawl into a chimney to begin with!” Says a third.

I'm a cis man, and I'm just going to assume these other assholes have never actually been taken for an egg. I've gotten comments on multiple occasions along the lines "you'd be a pretty girl" or "have you thought about being a woman?" And like. I don't know why this freaks people out. I'm just like "thanks, but I'm good" and that's the whole interaction. That's it. There was one person that wanted to sit down and have a serious conversation about it, and I just reiterated that I've thought about, and I'm good. Never asked again. Nobody is trying to forcefem me. That's not how this works. Yeah, if someone was being persistent and kept pushing buttons, it would make me uncomfortable, but you could do that with anything and I'd tell you to fuck off. There's nothing special going on here.

For me the indicator of a safe queer space is actually a confident, knowledgeable trans woman who's well liked by the people there and trusted to give advice to people who are new to the space.

Because queer spaces occasionally get the occasional dissociating "cishet men" who can't figure out why they want to be in the queer space so much, feel a conflicted sense of belonging and connection that they also feel they shouldn't have, and end sitting in the corner only interacting when explicitly included.

Now, if you don't have the confident trans woman around, what'll happen is that the "cishet man" eventually stops showing up, because yeah it's nice to go, but it's also really hard for some reason, and maybe another modded Fallout New Vegas run is easier, actually. Maybe the MMO where everyone calls her the name of her girl avatar is easier. She just can't figure out why.

United Healthcare getting sued by its investors, because it didn't warn them that the CEO getting murdered (by the tendrils of their unmitigated greed) was going to lead to them approving more claims (for covered services that they had no right to deny) is a cartoonish example of exactly why their CEO got murdered.

Their argument is essentially "You promised us a specific profit margin that is not possible to achieve under this increased public scrutiny of your unethical practices. We only agreed to invest because of those unethical practices. So we demand compensation because you didn't warn us that you'd be behaving more ethically"

And idk. Satire isn't just dead. We've pissed on its corpse and now it's dissolving in lye.

discussion about right wing radicalisation focuses near-exclusively on men becoming white nationalists but i wonder how it might manifest elsewhere. like, imagine a heavily online subculture of mostly women and they're dedicated to rooting out degeneracy, maintaining a rigid social order, refusing to acknowledge scientific consensus, being violently paranoid of a dehumanised other, adhering to exclusively eurocentric standards of beauty and politically dedicated to exterminating a minority group (possibly one that was already historically targeted for genocide). that'd be fuckin crazy lol
