My dad still does this, but jokingly. I think it's from the trauma of having it done to him lol

The modern world deserves not artists. Except for a few gay billionaires, they can keep a silly little artist man as a pet.

Honestly this is so true. I stayed up until 3 am reading Between Perfect and Real (really good book btw) sure I was tired the next day, but I had read an amazing book and had something new to talk with my family about. Of course most books don't lead to me coming out to my dad, but the point still stands
I’ve been thinking lately how one of my favourite things about being an adult is my freedom to read whatever and whenever I want. Not freedom in the books I pick, but freedom in how I choose to spend my time.
I can stay up until 5 reading a book I’m loving—who cares if I’m exhausted at work? I can sit at my dining room table for hours, not moving a muscle because the book I’m reading has its hooks dug into my attention.
I can choose to spend my whole day off reading in bed or in my chosen spot because it’s my time and I can do whatever I want with it.
I don’t have school assignments to take my time away, or books I need to read for certain reasons. It’s just me and my choice of reading against the rest of this world I’m living in right now.
I work, but the rest of the time is mine; the rest of the time belongs to my reading.
It’s a simple life, but I’m content.
Just some thoughts I wanted to share.
