Man, like Ferguson, touches on how difficult it is to find any representations of transgender bodies except for in porn. In order to combat this, Man provides a link at the end of the article that is supposed to lead to a series of uncensored images of his bottom growth, but the link is no longer functional.

This article is a part of Folx Health’s “library” on transgender healthcare. It goes into a lot of depth on the topic of bottom growth: outlining when bottom growth usually starts happening during hormone replacement therapy, what exactly it entails in terms of changes to clitoral and vulvar anatomy, how it can be augmented or impeded, and how it can vary from person to person. This article contains multiple illustrations of the progression of bottom growth, starting with what a vulva might look like prior to hormone replacement therapy and how it might change over time.

This article by Bax J. Ferguson explains a lot of key topics on the subject of bottom growth. Ferguson discusses what the term “bottom growth” actually refers to and what causes it. Ferguson also notes how scarce resources are for people who want to know what to expect with bottom growth, and how some of the only resources available are sexually explicit and not accessible to everybody.

This website is a comprehensive resource on metoidioplasty: a gender-affirming surgery which makes use of the clitoral growth that happens during hormone replacement therapy, combining the enlarged clitoris with tissue from the labia in order to create a neophallus. The website is maintained by Trans Media Network. The main pages of the website contain medical illustrations of genitalia, and are not age restricted. In the “before & after photos” section of the website, site visitors can view photographs of metoidioplasty results for a few different surgeons, including some pre-surgery photographs of clitorises that have been enlarged by hormone replacement therapy. Site visitors are asked to confirm their age before viewing pre- and post- surgery images. Note: some of these images were taken in the middle of surgery and may not be suitable for anybody who is squeamish or uncomfortable with graphic medical content. At the bottom of the page is a list of more resources for metoidioplasty images, some of which include images of pre-testosterone clitorises, post-testosterone clitorises, and post-metoidioplasty neophalluses. Some of these links lead to sites that are flagged as sexually explicit and/or ask users to verify their age before entering. The “resources” page of this website also lists a few books, blogs, support groups, and journal articles on the topics of transmasculinity and genitalia in general, and metoidioplasty surgeries in particular.

r/GrowYourClit

This subreddit is a community devoted to intentional clitoral enlargement. It primarily caters to cisgender women who are seeking clitoral growth for sexual fulfilment or fetish purposes, but welcomes transmasculine users who are experiencing clitoral growth as a result of hormone replacement therapy. This subreddit is explicitly a fetish community. It is designated as “adult content” and users are asked to verify their age in order to access the subreddit. Most, if not all, content is sexually explicit and approaches clitoral enlargement from a fetish perspective. That being said, it is also exponentially larger than any other online communities dedicated to clitoral growth: with over 36,000 members, this subreddit is a significant resource for learning about the different ways that enlarged clitorises can look and function.

r/GrowYourTDick

In contrast to r/GrowYourClit, the r/GrowYourTDick subreddit is exclusively meant for transmasculine people, and is not intended to be a space for pornographic or fetish content. It is still designated as “adult content” and users must still verify their age in order to access the subreddit, as it contains photographs of genitalia. With 9,000 members, this community is significantly smaller than the r/GrowYourClit subreddit, but its contents are more likely to be relevant to learning about clitoral growth as a result of hormone replacement therapy. It is also more accessible to users who are uncomfortable with the fetishistic nature of the r/GrowYourClit subreddit, and for users who want to avoid the feelings of gender dysphoria that might arise while trying to navigate a space that is geared towards cisgender women.

Survey Measuring Clitoral Growth on Testosterone 

This is a blog post by @transgenderteensurvivalguide promoting a survey that one of the blog’s moderators is conducting on the effects of testosterone on clitoral growth. The post references two clinical studies that have been conducted on the topic and explains their limitations, and ends with a link to the survey questionnaire. The results of the survey are publicly available through a spreadsheet which currently contains responses from over 1,200 participants and is still being updated as new responses come in.

How Metoidioplasty Works [FTM & Non-Binary Animation]

This video is an animated explanation of the process of metoidioplasty surgery. It includes an animation of the process of clitoral growth which is a prerequisite for the surgery. YouTube has placed a warning on this video claiming that it “may be inappropriate for some users” and users are asked to sign in and confirm their age before viewing the video.

Tristan’s Guide to T-Dicks

Blog post archiving an artist’s illustrated Twitter thread of a guide to drawing “t-dicks,” another term for clitorises that have been enlarged as a result of testosterone. The first two images include illustrations of how the clitoris may grow at different stages of hormone replacement therapy, how an enlarged clitoris may look when somebody is sexually aroused compared to when they are not, and how the shape of the clitoral hood and the labia may affect the appearance of an enlarged clitoris. The third image depicts the process of clitoral pumping, and the fourth includes a few illustrations of the results of a “simple release” and a metoidioplasty surgery.

This blog began as a project for one of my gender studies courses, when I noticed that a lot of the rhetoric amongst younger trans people about the topic of medically transitioning, especially with regards to changes in genitalia such as clitoral growth, was steeped in misinformation, uncertainty, and fear.

Most of the information online about the effects of hormone replacement therapy and gender affirming surgeries on genitalia is hidden behind adult content warnings or medical references. This is especially true of images, illustrations, and other visualizations of trans genital anatomy.

In an effort to make this information more accessible, I started compiling the sources I could find that contained information about and visual representations of clitoral growth. I’m posting them all here, and hope that I will be able to continue this project and expand this blog to include resources on other aspects of medical transition in the future!
