Also, Reggie and Conelly are dating in the au! (im officially calling it that i guess) thought it was worth mentioning that!

So in my transmale reggie au thing everyone’s older versions are basically the same except reggie’s. I wanted to draw conelly and decided today was the day. I’ll probably draw her with reggie sometime soon, but drawing multiple characters takes me a lot longer than just one.

I'm gonna rave about 12 forever
We need more protagonists like Reggie, Todd and Esther.
And I mean it. If I had that kind of representation on media as a twelve year old I definitely would have felt infinitely more secure and pride in myself. Speaking from personal experience twelve years old was a particularly hard time of my life.
Because I was just like Reggie, I still played with toys, played pretend, didnt care about fashion, or about what people thought of me, and it ended in all my friends leaving me at the same time.
It was a crucial turning point in the development of my major abandonment issues among other things, and there was little media aimed towards kids like that at the time.
And tbh, I'm still very much like Reggie, and honestly seeing the trio's struggles and particularly the ones surrounding friends growing apart and the whirlwind of emotions that causes all that rage, its really, really important for me, and other children who were and are dealing with the same exact thing.
And to see how that turmoil can be resolved (albeit not through fighting a several limbed bug buttwitch but you gotta have imagination.)
It's so incredibly important to me that this mutual understanding and effective explanation of the types of things running through the average, or even the most imaginative twelve year olds mind is conveyed so succinctly and easily.
Not only that, but the level of maturity that Reggie, Todd, and Esther portray is so accurate in it's own inconsistencies, its believable and relatable.
I know most everyone watching the show is caught up in the LGBT+ rep, and the subtle horror of Endless, but I really want yall to take a major second to look at how realistically this show portrays its main protagonists.
Because its really, really good.
So, I'm telling you, if you ever made detailed long stories acted out by dolls, drew all aspects of your imagination, sewed up your own costumes and worn them to school, had gross collections of weird shit you'd name, and especially ESPECIALLY if you were picked on or bullied for the things you most enjoyed.
I genuinely urge you to watch this show, it's really good and definitely deserves recognition for all the wonderful effort it puts in for its audience. Which can be enjoyed by both children and adults alike.

So many ppl seem to really like buttwitch but she kinda messes with my dysphoria? Like, very very femenine in design, thats obvious. Her voice is deep and that doesn't deter her from being clearly woman-like. And the combination joined with the episode of her debut just made me recieve it badly.
She came from an episode that talked a lot about growing up and female body changes and female topics and themes. "Inside every yound girl is a woman" etc. Those "changes" are the the biggest thing I hate about myself, and i didn't even know it much back then.
The voice thing bothered me a lot though. Ive been insecure about my voice for a long while, since I havent started hormones, but the fact that buttwitch has a voice deeper than mine and still presents very femenine is frustrating, because in comparrison what would I sound like, and things like that are just thoughts that come to mind.
I guess its personal experience making me so uncomfortable around her, but its strange that so many people seem to really like her. Not that i think theyre wrong for doing so, I just cant. (Also im like EXTREMELY gay so i cant understand why anyone likes girls lmao)

Drew a Todd and Esther to go with my transmale Reggie headcanon, which feels more like an au at this point lmao! It’s meant to be older versions of them though they don’t really look too different other than Reggie.

I only found out about Twelve Forever yesterday, but then I binged the whole first season and I absolutely LOVED it. By episode two I actually started getting trans vibes from Reggie, just little things that reminded me of myself, as I didn’t know I was trans until I was 14-15.
Of course the drawing is of an older version of him in my headcanon, around when he’s 17-18. He’s still really childish and energetic, I hc he still goes by Reggie, the name doesn’t feel really gendered to me, and I feel like it wouldn’t matter as much to him, anyways.
I also have older versions of Todd and Esther that I’m working on.
For those interested, here’s the headcanon

Twelve Forever - Transmale Reggie
So I started watching Twelve Forever yesterday and ended up binging the whole show in one sitting. From episode two I started to actually feel myself relating to Reggie, which was odd because I’m an eighteen-year-old transguy who was nothing like Reggie when I was younger. But from that I actually started feeling reminded of feelings I’d had at around that age, which was where this theory was born.
The headcanon I have is basically that Reggie could realize in the next few years of her life that she really doesn’t feel right in her body as it changes. Through this realizing that she’d rather be a guy, and thus realizing that she might be transgender.
Judging by Reggie’s childhood from what we can see, gender wasn’t influential on her childhood. She was just a kid, so was her brother. Gender didn’t matter as a kid, so it’s reasonable that when her biological gender starts to change her life she finally starts to notice that this change is less fear of growing up, and just discomfort.
The idea of growing up is something Reggie always wants to get away from. She wants to live in Endless forever, where she won’t have to get older and her life won’t have to change. Through this I can tell that it’s really change that Reggie is afraid of. She’s afraid of growing up and of her body changing. She’s afraid of Esther finding Endless and is quick to try to push her away. She gets nervous around Conelly and runs away when she sees her at the dance, forcing Esther to come with her. In Todd Forever she gets upset when he wants to bring Gwen to Endless. Anything new that happens scares or worries Reggie.
Reggie doesn’t want her life to change. She’s scared to grow up because growing up means things are going to change. The gift her mother gets her, the bra, made her extremely uncomfortable. Todd didn’t seem to uncomfortable about it in contrast. It’s likely she was uncomfortable because her brother and friend were also there, but when Todd joked around about it, I would expect Reggie to maybe warm up about it and joke about it with him, but instead she cancels her party.
Another time I thought about this was when her mom was talking about her not having any interest in growing up like she had when she was younger, mentioning going to the mall and makeup. And then later at the “girls day” episode she has no interest in the makeup, except for using it like facepaint in a way. Then when they go to have her try on dresses she seems uncomfortable again, but maybe it’s just me projecting there. The only thing that calls out to her are a pair of shoes that she finds fun, and the outfit along with it was a dress shirt and tie, most likely the clothes that actually spoke to her, instead of what Esther and her mom had picked out. You can see how happy she is wearing the outfit, just to be told to stop messing around, which makes her look pretty upset. When she tries on the other dresses she’s still mostly messing around and having fun. they’re too big or extremely poofy or just really extra, and when she tries on the last one she’s clearly uncomfortable, she even says it aloud.
It’s pretty obvious just how feminine this whole scene was, and how far away Reggie felt from her mom and Esther. She didn’t fit in with them at all.
I also found it interesting how the main antagonist was a creation born from Reggie’s fear of growing up, and specifically “becoming a woman”. She throws these fears into a volcano, and they become the show’s major antagonist.
Reggie just doesn’t feel comfortable as a girl to me, and reminds me of myself. When her body changes I can see her finally realizing that it’s not right. What’s more, I can tell already that her friends and her mom would be completely accepting of her however she turned out.
There’s probably more that I’m forgetting, and I’m not really expecting to see something like this in the show, especially since I only really see trans stories where the character is trans since childhood, but in theory it’s comforting to think about. I just think it’s neat.

Blog Description
So basically this is a blog I made to post Twelve Forever stuff, mostly about an au/headcanon I have about Reggie being transmale. Though I’m probably also going to have other Twelve Forever content here, too, because I absolutely love the show.
My main blog is @lucasluvia and my art blog is @lucasluvia-art so probably a chunk of the content is going to come from there, at least for when I’m starting the blog.
For a little context, I’m Luke, an 18-year-old trans guy who sees a lot of my own feelings from when I was her age in Reggie, which is the base of the headcanons, if you aren’t comfortable with that then this blog probably isn’t the place for you.
Asks and submissions are open, and if you want to message me about anything feel free to, I don’t bite! This blog is a safe space for everyone <3
