actually let's run the numbers. dexter started killing when he was 20 the original series finale takes place in 2012 he's an aquarius so we'll say he's 41. he's been killing for 21 years. new blood takes place ten years later and he hasn't killed since so that's 30 years of life where he didn't kill any people. and then he dies so. really he's a good guy <3

Gale at the end proposal scene, completely besotted, watching Tav mutter and possibly even drool a bit in their sleep, and still being like: Gods, they are perfection itself! I MUST ask for their hand in marriage, I need to lock this down sooner rather than later…

So, we all love Gale’s mirror image/simulacrum, and how the ‘certain measure of Gale’s personality’ that he retains is Gale’s sweet, dorky charm…but is Gale himself aware of this?

I don’t believe we ever see Gale actually interact with his mirror image, as it always appears as a replacement when Gale is elsewhere.

It’s possible Gale has always just assumed he’s created this 100% straightforward, serious mirror image who radiates scholarly intelligence…because surely, that’s the aspect of his personality that it would pull from, right?

Imagine if one night, after Gale and Tav are married and living in Waterdeep, they start reminiscing about their romance. Tav brings up their first night together, and mentions how surprised they were to see Gale’s mirror image standing in his place at camp.

Gale is pleased, and says with a gentle laugh that he hopes Tav wasn’t too intimidated by his simulacrum’s stoic nature.

To which Tav responds oh no, not at all! They loved how adorable he was, and they still remember the cute pose he did to represent Gale’s personality!

Gale (perplexed): …darling, whatever do you mean? What pose…?

Cue Tav, perfectly miming this:

I'd forgotten how exceptional the first episode of Black Sails and the introduction of Captain Flint are. In one (1) episode they point to this soggy, angry little man and go: this is the most dangerous pirate of the seven seas. he wouldn't even win a swordfight. he beat someone to death with his bare fists and is ready to do it again. he probably cries himself to sleep at night. he's the most collected, composed man you've ever seen. he throws furniture around in a fit when he's angry. he talks about the importance of trust and honesty. he doesn't believe any of it. he can completely change someone's mind when he talks to them. the people closest to him know not to trust a single word that comes out of his mouth. he's in control of the narrative. he's trapped in a web of lies of his own making. he's made himself into a legend. everything he's built is just one second away from falling apart. he inspired a whole nation. he's the number one public enemy. he's a hero. he's a monster. he's just one man. he's starting a war against the whole world.

I really hope unfairly-maligned female-led sci-fi like the 13th Doctor era and Star Trek: Discovery get more popular in the future. They both got extreme misogynistic backlash for their main character which bafflingly excluded criticism of the show’s actual flaws. They have some really fun characters and concepts that haven’t gotten their due in appreciation both as a show and the work behind it as modern pieces of sci-fi.

#i have gotten to the point where i don't mind section 31 #i at first- like i think many people- hated it bc it meant that the only way to have a utopia was to do shady shit behind the scenes#which is of course not what it means #it's not even a sentiment that makes sense bc it contradicts itself #what it does mean is that the federation is not a utopia #which is another facet of star trek that a lot of fans including myself had trouble accepting #but i have come to the point where i think it is very good storytelling bc we the audience fall in love with the federation #in a similar way that we are indoctrinated into nationalism for our real societies and governments #and having us the audience experience the disillusionment and heartbreak of finding out its not true is a great metaphor #in that it actively involves us in its story #the federation is still of course much better than the modern world #but section 31's existance is another example of ds9's core thesis that just bc we are better we can't decide we're perfect #and stop working to be better #so despite initially despising it i have come around to liking s31 as it is presented in ds9 and (to my memory of its depiction) in ent #disco though...... #and undoubtedly the section 31 movie.....
