The first #major #trip #abroad is being planned for #February #2025 since my rail tour in January/February 2023 to #Germany, #Austria, #Italy, #Switzerland and #France.

This is a whole new #adventure and #experience. I will, for the first time, have 4 #travel companions, all coworkers from the #Emergency Department.

It will involve 2 cities within the country, 7 flights in total, 1 train trip, an Air B&B for 9 days, attending the annual Snow Festival, #Snowboarding and so many #foodie and #culinary #adventures. Can you guess where?

I wasn’t going to post anything more during 9/11 however, President Zelenskyy of the Ukraine, paid tribute to our country while his country is #battling the #evil and #cowardly #terrorists of a #corrupt and #treasonous #government of #Russia.

This President, of the Ukraine, is an absolute example of of a true, resilient leader of a country that will survive, conquer and rebuild. The amazing and beautiful country of Ukraine will show the world of the modern day, #David #vs #Goliath.

I have to say it, the Ukrainian President should be considered to receive the #Nobel #Peace #Award for what he has accomplished and done. An example of what a countries leader should be and for what he stands for.

I’m here in the Ukraine to assist in making a difference for the Ukrainian people, to see this post by him to pay respects to our country during this awful and trying times of his country, has brought tears to my eyes.

Tomorrow I depart on a multinational Search and Rescue Team for a destination I can not disclose. I am honored to be of service to the Ukraine.

I now more than ever have the resolve and devotion to helping the Ukraine in every way possible, no matter how long it takes.

Today is the #21st #Anniversary of the #September #11th #attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and the crash of United Airlines Flight 93.

As I reflect on the events of that tragic day, I remember knowing to my core, I had to do something. I co-coordinated fundraising efforts that raised $50,000 for the FDNY including a procession of emergency vehicles that included every first responder agency in Santa Cruz County. We traveled from Santa Cruz to the former Fort Ord military base in Monterey County.

Six months after 9/11, myself and two members from Central Fire District traveled to New York to present the check and pay our respects at the WTC site.

History:

On September 11, 2001, 19 Al-Qaeda militants hijacked four airplanes and committed suicide attacks aimed at US targets which resulted in a death toll of over 3,000.

Two of the hijacked planes belonged to United and American Airlines, were deliberately crashed into the New York World Trade Center’s twin towers, while a third plane was flown into the Pentagon. The fourth plane crashed in a rural field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

Some of the numbers:

* 2,977 people were killed (countless more suffered serious injuries and long-term health issues)

* 2,753 died at the World Trade Center site

* 343 of them were New York City firefighters

* 23 were NYPD officers

* 37 were police officers from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey

* 184 people were killed when American Airlines Flight 77 crashed into the Pentagon

* 40 were killed on United Airlines Flight 93 that crashed near Shanksville, Pensilvania

* The victims ranged in age from two to 85 years.

* As of 2021, 1,647 (60%) of 2,753 WTC victims' remains have been positively identified, according to the medical examiner's office.

*Just a note, when traveling from SFO #International, do not #waist your time on or at the the #KLM / #AirFrance #lounge, they have the #worst #service, and just plain #rude

From going between both of my jobs here in California, now venturing off again on an International Humanitarian & Medical Assistance mission, it has been 4 months since my last month-long deployment in April to Poland & the Ukraine. I am scheduled for just over 2 months #abroad, primarily in the Ukraine.

With the full support of both my employers, Good Samaritan Hospital (granting me the time off) & California Health Medical Reserve Corp. (sponsoring me financially with all expenses paid while abroad), I will be joining & embedding with Ukrainian EMS personal hoping to gain incredible experience & make a difference in anyway possible.
