A calligraphy tattoo design by me is in the books. 😊 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I loved working with her, the design process was smooth and so insightful. In her words, “I’ve been wanting to get this tattoo for almost 7 years now but wanted to first be ready to embody the love and acceptance of all that has happened and all that will happen to me. I’m finally here.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ During the design process, I probably wrote the Latin words, “Amor Fati”, hundreds of times and when you write things over and over again, you will eventually create something new and exciting. (So for those of you calligraphers/letterers out there wondering how you can find your style, write words/letters over and over and over again and eventually you’ll be able to find your own unique style.) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ In this case, this style was created to represent strength and love, something she strongly wanted to feel when looking at her tattoo as a reminder of her life mantra. “Amor Fati is used to describe an attitude in which one sees everything that happens in one's life, including suffering and loss, as good or, at the very least, necessary, in that they are among the facts of one's life and existence, so they are always necessarily there whether one likes them or not.” (Source:google search) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Special thanks to @schweddyfamilyrecipe for trusting me with this forever tattoo! 💕💕 #amorfati #tattoo #calligraphytattoo https://www.instagram.com/p/BoMym_Sg_gg/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=5fucjacamzz

Speaking of Paris, last year I was strolling around the city and I stumbled upon an art exhibition featuring who I believe is the best botanical illustrator of his time, Pierre-Joseph Redoute (1759-1840). Coincidently, I stumbled upon an art gallery yesterday in San Francisco with his original masterpieces for sale! (@aradergalleries_sf) Seeing his art reminded me of Paris and how inspiring and detailed his florals are. I’ve been fortunate to have been in Paris a few times. Paris is where I experienced crying at 2AM because I missed a flight back home and while sitting on the bus to the airport, people consoled me and asked me if I was okay in French and I answered , nodding yes while crying.
