Largs- where the Vikings were defeated by the Scots as they attempted to disembark from their boats - probably similar to the Cal Mac ferry.

TROON - GLASGOW AIRPORT
Spent today saying goodbyes to family, after another wonderful dinner last night - this time at cousin June's home. Lovely view of the seafront, a good single malt, traditional steak pie dinner, and lots of chat and laughs. Today we drove north up the coast through Largs where the Vikings were defeated. Scotland-1, Norway-0. Glorious sunny views over the Clyde to the islands and Rothesay. Then on to Glasgow Airport. After comical performance going round and round roundabouts trying to get to Europcar depot we arrived. Paid 拢2 to go in and out of the car park!! So here we are 5 weeks on - waiting to return to Australia, family and friends.

Front/ land view of Culzean Castle. Rear is over the Firth of Clyde. Ruined Gate was designed by John Adam as an interesting eye catching feature to frame the castle on approach. Not a real ruin.

TROON - CULZEAN CASTLE & Ayr
Enjoyed a drive south to Culzean Castle. Seat of the Kennedy clan. Renovated by John Adams in 1800鈥檚. Very significant building - beautifully furnished.
Not a day to venture out of the car for long. Cold, occasional showers complemented by a a 23 mph wind.
