whenever i see a @travtism fic i either run the other way out of fear of emotional distress or i am drawn to it and start reading

my thoughts are either she commits suicide before they’re rescued because after losing her entire family in a plane crash she isn’t convinced there’s any way they’ll have survived

OR

she commits suicide after they’re rescued, maybe travis let’s something slip about what REALLY happened to javi and it’s her breaking point, she lost her husband (even if they had a difficult relationship), her youngest son, and her eldest came back entirely different and traumatised only to confess to cannibalising his brother….

i wrote a fic abt this once i thought it was such an angsty concept to explore

At the beginning of season one, Travis is living off the grid under a new name. But it's difficult to imagine he would disappear on his mom, who for 18 months would have thought she lost her entire family, only to have just one son return. Is she dead? Does she reject him? Is she gone from her grief before they even get rescued?

Man, I wish the writers cared more about the Martinez family.

javi’s first time seeing his brother again after two months spent in a cave, starving and freezing, living off scraps, hallucinating from the cave fumes, probably thinking travis was dead and the girls had assaulted and killed him…

the concept of coach ben being vaguely kind to the martinez kids and they start following him around like baby ducklings bc they’ve decided he’s their new dad and they’re just like “thank you for not beating us and screaming in our faces and calling us slurs and telling us we’re worthless, that’s so kind :3” and ben is like uhhhh okay 👍
