"We were all ready to go last night, and then it got postponed."
Prom goers in the wild; these two are from Moore High. I loved the bottom of his shoes and the primary color scheme they went for as opposed to matching.
There were a lot of kids out last night getting photos and they had perfect weather for the occasion. I'm a little fascinated by the logistics of rescheduling prom on the fly. I'm wondering if the schools always make a contingency plan when booking venues just in case there's weather given the time of year proms occur?

I think we can all agree it was a weird storm day here in central Oklahoma. I did get a lot of shots of the tornado warned storm that moved into town after dark, but frankly this lightning shot, which was after I hunkered down, is the only one worth showing. An outbreak still active as of this post (it's almost midnight); hopefully everyone out east is aware of their situation and sheltering as needed.

This is Jim, and it's his birthday. I know this because he was at NMF tonight listening to his daughter perform, and she made a point of telling the crowd. Then the band dedicated the next song to him, and the whole moment was just really sweet. I had to wait for the stage lights to hit his face to grab the shot, so this took a bit. He was quite gracious, but he also pointed to his shirt telling me his daughter's merch damn well better be in the pic as well. The band is Cowtippers and their LP just hit Spotify last week. I hope they're able to make a go of it; I quite enjoyed their set. Happy birthday, Jim! And yay for dad groupies!

Twistina the Aerialist at the arts fest last night. Which I found out earlier today, by the way, didn't officially open this year until *today*. It's always opened on a Tuesday in the past, so I was really surprised that the place was seemingly dead last night. There was hardly anyone there and the tents were all closed well before 8:00. I chalked up the sparse attendance to the weather and the Thunder game.
But there was an open bar and some buffet food displayed on the center lawn, which at the time I couldn't quite figure out. Plus there was a live band called Take Cover, who was actually really good. You guys....apparently, I crashed a party.
I can tell you this, tho: the artists were taking money.

I liked their vibe. She told me after I snapped a few photos that he was a professional photographer in his former life. Arts Fest 2024.

This is Emily, a videographer by day for a Tulsa news station and photographer by night. She and her husband had all kinds of gear set up for the big eclipse event and both are serious hobbyists. They were in Broken Bow the day before to scope things out and decided to set up elsewhere due to the crowds and the price gouging for parking, the lowest of which they saw was $60.
Here's hoping they were able to get some great shots.

Remember when I said I wasn't inclined to take a photo of the eclipse? I lied.

I'm still shooting every day, but my current project involves shooting film for a year, so the tenor of my random shots is a lot different than my digital shots. At least for now. Plus winter, the general blues about some personal stuff, the flu...I've got all sorts of excuses for not walking around with the camera much in the past few months. I'm hoping this will change as the weather warms up. I won't be at the Medieval Fair this weekend, either. I am heading to the SE corner of the state tomorrow for The Big Event, however, and I imagine I'll get some interesting shots down there. No, I'm not planning on shooting the eclipse. There will be much better shots floating around the internet than anything I can grab. I just don't have the equipment for it, or frankly the inclination. I'm after the stories around the eclipse though, and I hope those will show themselves to me.
Anyway, here's a film shot from a couple of weeks ago. I can't help but see a face in profile, not until Burt from Sesame Street.

Throwback to the Azores last year. Lagoon of the Seven Cities/The Twin Lakes/Green and Blue Lakes in Sao Miguel was on the menu that day. The lakes are ecologically different, the internet tells me, therefore supposedly different colors. Not gonna lie, when we saw them, it was overcast and they looked exactly the same. It's a huge attraction; it was crowded with lots of people vying for a selfie spot, and because of the nature of the road infrastructure, parking was a bit of a nightmare as well. I got a few pics of the hydrangeas, which was the best thing about that spot on that particular day, then I turned and looked directly behind me. Named Monte Palace, this is an abandoned luxury hotel overlooking the lakes, that was only open for 18 months before closing in 1990. The hotel is completely surrounded by a fence with signs posted every few feet in various languages forbidding entry. Tourist were brazenly ignoring the directive however, and there were a handful of young rebels wandering around, including on the roof.

This is a leftover from my vacation last year. Photo bombers rarely bother me; people interacting in urban environments are my jam.
