can you tell us anything about the flings and side ros? For example at what point can we expect to meet them?

Yeah, you'll meet most of them in Chapter 2. I want side ROs to be much more casual/light-hearted then mains (this is what I'll be writing when I'm sick of them lol).

Dr Simon Oakley: Family doctor. He'll flit from in and out but you'll see him often enough. He's warm and somewhat distractible and a lot older than MC.

Connor/Rosalind Pike: Your insiders. A maid and a footman, and I'm thinking you'll choose to deal primarily with one of them and the other will fade to background a bit more. They are both protective of each other and won't trust you quickly, but if you have their back they'll have yours.

There might be some opportunity for a fling with a beautiful and mysterious widow (fem). She'll stay until the wedding and you can become her pet.

They are all bisexual, so no need to worry about availability. Some variation will sneak in, I'll try to avoid it but there are some things that are important to me (reaction to personality and gender etc).

Sorry if you got asked this before and I didn't see it, but here goes. Will there be consequences to showin interest in more than one RO? how will they react?

Hi Fab. Yes, but if you just show interest, just to see a scene before the lock, that won't carry any nastiness. You might get a comment about it. But if you want problems - I want problems.

At the end of Chapter 4 or beginning of Chapter 5 you'll be able to select an RO and that will include Love Triangle routes if you want to experience something more in-depth. I'm so excited to dig into them.

The consequences will include: pettiness, fights, difficulties, additional bad endings etc. Jealousy is one of the themes I want to explore and all the difficult feelings that come from yearning for something you can't easily have.

Hi! I just wanted to pop in and tell you how much I adore your game and your writing. I've replayed the demo several times, and I always find a new detail somewhere every time. I looooooove the historical setting and gothic genre. Like, this is my bread and butter right now. I can't wait to read more, especially as I am playing with a male MC who has a thing for Raoul (my beloved). I love the way you write dialogue and the framing you have for scenes; I can picture it playing out perfectly, and it's just so well done. You have me completely hooked. Thank you for all of your hard work, and I am so excited to see the story develop!

Hey sorry I just wanted to let you know that the demo breaks if you choose the Either option for romance 💔

Damn 😅 This bug must be ancient. My bad, I made my alpha testers templates to skip the character creator so I didn't catch it before. Don't worry, this option doesn't lock anything, just randomizes a character. I see that's not the only thing I grandfathered in... well, it's time for better looking CC anyway.

I fixed it on my end. I'll be updating the demo today and maybe I can throw in a CW list in there as well, since I don't think the vote is going to swing now.

Hey, sorry for disappearance. Maybe I'll do updates bi-weekly because I was lost in the woods (putting my ideas on paper) and didn't have a lot to report.

Chapter 2 is being played by the alpha testers and I'm finishing part 2. Here's what changed.

You might notice some changes in Chapter 1 that are a result of researching peerage some more (my beloathed). This will brick your saves. Sorry!

Crestwood reverted back to Harewood (and I hope the resemblance to a real place won't bite me in the ass, but it shouldn't, there is a regency series with Harewood in the title).

I changed the genre in the intro post, it's now: Romance and Mystery. Just in case anyone expects real scares when seeing 'Horror', that won't be coming (for some time).

I'm not sure when I should introduce content warnings. When I posted my demo for the first time I thought there was nothing to warn about and I didn't want to oversell what's not there. Vote in the poll below if you'd like.

I'm keeping up with this new wave of censorship. I see I took itch.io for granted as the free queer-loving platform it presented itself to be, judging by what games it shadowbanned among other things. We are alright with cogdemos for now.

I will be prettying up this blog soon, don't get spooked.

CONTENT WARNING: DISCUSSION OF SEXUAL ASSAULT & NSFW/ADULT WORKS IN THIS POST.

Of all the games itch.io chose as a reason to suspend me . . .  They didn't choose the NSFW erotica.  They didn't choose the ones about kink.  They choose the one that depicts a man's disbelief & pain over being sexually assaulted.  What.  The.  FUCK. (Twitter) (Bluesky)

So, in case you missed it on the above sites, itch.io (the indie game site where I host my projects) has decided to ban my 2018 release Bi Lines (they say "suspend", but it's not a decision you can fight/reverse, and it's a restriction that lasts forever, not for a limited amount of time).  

Currently, itch.io has delisted all NSFW/erotic projects on the site, and is banning certain ones in order to adhere to payment processors' stricter rules on what content they'll allow (which they have done thanks to a group in Australia called Collective Shout).  itch.io has made a statement on all of this here.

However, Bi Lines is not a NSFW game, nor is it meant to be erotic.  It's a game about a bisexual journalist in the 1980s who is sexually assaulted.  As the player, we experience his turmoil, conflicted feelings, and trauma.  In no way is this game meant to arouse.  But it was banned anyway.  The picture at the beginning of this post is the main part of the email I received about that.

I decided to respond to the email today in the hopes that the game can get unbanned.  Here's what I said:

So, that's already frustrating enough, but it doesn't stop there.

Like I said, all NSFW/erotic projects on itch.io are delisted.  This has affected my NSFW account's projects on there, and destroyed discoverability for the time being.  That account makes about half of my income atm, mainly through Patreon subscriptions to access games.  If my NSFW games on itch.io get banned, that is going to destroy my livelihood; I'm terrified of that happening.  I discuss this in more detail here.

I know a lot of people are very worried right now, and that includes me.  Payment processors should not be able to wield this much power over our purchases, and they shouldn't be able to be pressured by some conservative group.  Those kinds of organizations are ALWAYS gonna push the goalpost further once they get what they want.

If you want to help, sign this petition, and contact the payment processors--they are directions on how to do so in this article by my friend Radiant.  Also, here's a writeup on DoktorHobo with some insight on how calling helps.

Farai. A wandering performer whose troupe got stuck in Natrun right before the war. Eager to become your friend, your ally, and perhaps something more. Tall, handsome and just a little dangerous.

Elvira. You elven stylist and confidant, only recently freed from the shackles of slavery. May or may not need a hug. As feminine as a girly girl can get.

The game is currently 150k words long (not counting ChoiceScript code) with three chapters and a prologue available to everyone. Updates are released on a monthly basis. Patreon users receive early access to major updates, as well as exclusive access to bonus material.

Since the story is still in early stages, I will greatly welcome feedback of all kinds. Feel free to ask, comment, react and engage in whatever way you deem suitable.
