Hi, I'm Alexis! (23, she/her) This is my Yu-Gi-Oh! sideblog, for posting about my own decks I play in the video games, particularly World Championship 2008 and Over the Nexus. In the modern game I'm a dedicated Red Dragon Archfiend player, though I don't play the modern game so much as I do the 5D's era, which is my personal favorite time in the history of the TCG. I don't play competitively, but rather prefer to build the decks I like and optimize them to be as effective (and cool) as possible!

Gaia Dragon, the Thunder Charger
"2 Level 7 monsters You can also Xyz Summon this card by using a Rank 5 or 6 Xyz Monster you control as material. (Transfer its materials to this card.) If this card attacks a Defense Position monster, inflict piercing battle damage."

I've been tinkering with Disaster Dragons again for fun, and that last reblog has my current list. I feel like I've been overlooking Dread Dragon; outside of turbo or Dragunity decks, it's really good. Pairs nicely with Masked Dragon, Exploder Dragon, and Delta Flyer, and three copies on their own enable Red Nova Dragon in any Dragon deck that can fit them. It's also a FIRE Dragon and a Jack Atlas card, which are all pluses in my book.

Over the Nexus Deck Profile: Disaster Dragon
Tumblr media
Disaster Dragon is a hybrid aggro-control deck, combining the sheer power of dragons with floodgates both draconic and generic, with the goal of overwhelming the opponent with sheer oppressive might. While not as immediately explosive as Dragon Turbo (my Three-Pronged Dragon deck), it compensates by being far more durable and methodical. The flagship monster of the deck, besides the universally good Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon, is Light and Darkness Dragon, whose power is all-encompassing. LADD negates any and all activated effects from both players, which means if it's summoned when you're at an advantageous position, it can lock up the game for you and more or less guarantee victory. It has its weaknesses, as cards like Quickdraw Synchron can activate their effects over and over to reduce LADD to a weak vanilla, but its power is undeniable and commands respect. LADD isn't the only trick this deck plays; Exploder Dragon keeps your opponent off of any powerful monsters, while REDMD can recycle it over and over. Koa'ki Meiru Drago stops LIGHT and DARK strategies in their tracks, which can be bad for us since we play our own LIGHT and DARK monsters, but a key trick with this deck is learning to not pay the cost to keep Drago on the field, so that you can special summon freely and bring back Drago with REDMD when you're done. Royal Oppression, while limited, is downright terrifying when played in an advantageous position, capable of cementing your victory similarly to REDMD. This is probably my favorite Edison deck, and it's one of my favorite OTN decks too! Here's the list: MONSTERS (20): Delta Flyer x1 Dread Dragon x3 Exploder Dragon x1 Koa'ki Meiru Drago x3 Light and Darkness Dragon x2 Masked Dragon x3 Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon x3 Red-Eyes Wyvern x3 Totem Dragon x1 SPELLS (10): Dark Hole x1 Dragon Ravine x3 Future Fusion x1 Gold Sarcophagus x2 Monster Reborn x1 Mystical Space Typhoon x2 TRAPS (10): Call of the Haunted x1 Dimensional Prison x2 Mirror Force x1 Royal Oppression x1 Solemn Judgment x1 Solemn Warning x2 Starlight Road x1 Torrential Tribute x1 EXTRA DECK: Five-Headed Dragon x1 Ally of Justice Catastor x1 Black Rose Dragon x1 Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier x1 Colossal Fighter x1 Exploder Dragonwing x1 Goyo Guardian x1 Magical Android x1 Red Dragon Archfiend x1 Red Nova Dragon x1 Scrap Dragon x1 Stardust Dragon x1 Thought Ruler Archfiend x1 Trident Dragion x1 Trishula, Dragon of the Ice Barrier x1

My list of deck ideas for Over the Nexus alone is massive at this point. If I make all of the ones I've written down, I'll have well over 100 decks saved. I'm not even sure if there's enough space for them all.

Deck profiles may be returning soon! I've been making new Over the Nexus decks and have polished up a few of my old ones to be better or more enjoyable. I can't say when, as I've been mourning the death of a dear friend and finding the energy to write is difficult, but I'd like to do some more when I can.

Whenever I get back to making new Over the Nexus Decks, I think I wanna try my hand at a Blue-Eyes White Dragon Deck that isn't a high-speed combo Deck like my Three-Pronged Dragon Deck. Something closer in pace to Disaster Dragons that can still summon BEWD consistently, maybe running Burst Stream of Destruction?

When I get back to doing deck profiles, I'm considering picking up World Championship 2005: Seven Trials to Glory, or Nightmare Troubadour, so I can have a DM era game in my collection of profiles. I'm not sure which to choose. The former is a World Championship game with an overworld and a larger card pool, but the latter is a DS game with much nicer dueling presentation. Which would you prefer?

I just found out that my ultimate rare copy of Trident Dragion is worth over $100 now thanks to new demand generated by the upcoming Tenpai archetype. I have to say I feel a little bit smug now because I got this card, and branded this blog, well before Tenpai was announced. Ahead of the curve, I am!

Just wanted to remind everyone that I'm not dead! I haven't been playing any Yugioh lately, and haven't had any motivation to work on deck profiles. But they'll be back sooner or later.

Over the Nexus Deck Profile: Dark Paladin
Tumblr media
Dark Paladin is a Fusion of Dark Magician and Buster Blader, designed for Yugi Muto's Duel with Seto Kaiba in Battle City, as Yugi's answer to Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon. In the TCG, it was a rare example of a Fusion Monster that was actually good once it fit the field. However, it was never used simply because its Fusion Materials weren't good and Fusion Summoning in general was bad at the time. Fortunately, developments such as Elemental HERO Prisma and Future Fusion make it far more accessible, so building a Deck around it is feasible. Dark Paladin gains 500 attack for all Dragons in both player's field and Graveyard, making its already good 2900 attack even better. To supplement this attack boost, Dark Paladin is played in a Dragon Deck to ensure its attack stat is incredibly high regardless of what Monsters the opponent plays. Its other effect, negating Spell Cards at the cost of a discard, is even more powerful, creating a semi-lockdown similarly to Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV8. Speaking of Dragons, my build plays a very standard Dragon lineup, with the added Tuner of Debris Dragon, which works amazingly with King of the Swamp: Discard King or use it as Fusion Material to put it in the Graveyard, then Summon it right back with Debris Dragon to go into a Level 7 Dragon Synchro, including the usual suspects but most notably Gungnir, Dragon of the Ice Barrier. Prisma, meanwhile, not only makes Dark Paladin easier to Summon, it also makes Polymerization in general more useful as it can be used to Summon the Omni HEROES, giving the Deck additional utility with Fusion Summoning. I don't have much more to say about it, so here's the list: MONSTERS (23): Dark Magician x3 Buster Blader x3 Debris Dragon x1 Elemental Hero Prisma x3 Exploder Dragon x1 King of the Swamp x3 Masked Dragon x3 Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon x3 Red-Eyes Wyvern x3 SPELLS (14): Dark Hole x1 Dragon Ravine x3 Future Fusion x1 Gold Sarcophagus x2 Monster Reborn x1 Mystical Space Typhoon x2 Polymerization x3 Reinforcement of the Army x1 TRAPS (3): Royal Decree x3 EXTRA DECK: Dark Paladin x3 Elemental Hero Absolute Zero x1 Elemental Hero Gaia x1 Elemental Hero Great Tornado x1 Elemental Hero Nova Master x1 Five-Headed Dragon x1 Ancient Fairy Dragon x1 Black Rose Dragon x1 Exploder Dragonwing x1 Gungnir, Dragon of the Ice Barrier x1 Red Dragon Archfiend x1 Scrap Dragon x1 Stardust Dragon x1

This is not a drill. Trident Dragion, this blog's mascot, is getting its own archetype, complete with a retrain, field spell, etc, which support not just Dragon Synchros but also FIRE Dragons specifically, meaning cards like Blaster, Dragon Ruler of Infernos and Horus the Black Flame Deity could fit in here. If anything can get me back into modern Yu-Gi-Oh!, this may be it
