DON’T SCROLL PAST THIS
for the last 2+ weeks, the Amazon has been catching fire. Yes, it’s the season where that’s normal but because of the sayings (aka incentive) of our new president, some farmers are taking advantage of that and intentionally setting the trees on fire. Yesterday, because of this, the sky of São Paulo looked like this. AT THREE IN THE AFTERNOON.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hospitals of the northern states are filling up with people (especially children and seniors) claiming they can’t breathe properly. ALREADY ENDANGERED ANIMALS ARE DYING. THIS IS SERIOUS.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Germany and Norway, huge donators to the Amazon cause will stop sending money because they don’t see results (that can also be credited to our president, who has been tweeting angrily ever since - not because he cares about the environment, btw). That money gives this guy and his team equipment to save little guys like these:
Tumblr media
THIS AFFECTS EVERYONE, NOT JUST BRAZILIANS. The Amazon is the largest rainforest in the world, and it’s being destroyed. WE HAVE TO DO SOMETHING.
If your country is holding elections, vote for someone who cares about this. Don’t let another Bolsonaro or another Trump have the power to do something and then do nothing. This is going to shape our future — if we have one.
PLEASE REBLOG, EVERYONE NEEDS TO SEE THIS!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
side note: not to sound bitter or ungrateful but also like what’s up with Europe… y’all exploited South America for centuries but just because you “aren’t seeing results” you stop helping altogether?? if you really wanted to help you wouldn’t stop because you think you aren’t helping lol

Witches For Sudan 🇸🇩
(You do NOT have to be a witch to participate or even occult. Absolutely anyone is welcomed to join!)
Forget that love or money spell you had planned, I am making a plea to action from all witches/pagans/occult practitioners. This is my open letter to you:
On Sunday, June 16th, at sundown in your location light a candle for Sudan in the colors of red, green, white, or black. For those of you who cannot, say a simple prayer or do whatever you do. I don’t care what your action or specific intent is. Pray for their safety. That the word gets out. That the violence ends. For healing. Pray for one thing or all of it. To god, gods, universe, nature, energy, thin air, it doesn’t matter because the next part is just as important. Then I urge you to come to Tumblr &/or any social media and make a post about Sudan, use #witchesforsudan in the tags. This is how we will be seeing eachother. Feel free to repost on other websites! Just get the word out.
These people are facing atrocities in silence. This need goes beyond your aesthetic or blog theme. Reblog. Reblog. Reblog.
Please help me spread the word and get this out to as many people as possible! I dont know if it’ll help, but they can’t afford for us not to try.
And do not forget! Mark it in your calender, set alarm, do it right now!!!

What Native people say about the use of sage: you can use sage, but you cannot smudge as nothing you are doing (waving sage around) is actually smudging. Smudging is a ceremony and you are, we promise, not smudging. Please buy sage from either us, or someone who sources the sage from us. White sage may not be considered endangered by the US government but corperate sourcing is making it difficult for us to source sage for our own religious purposes. Let alone to sell it.
What white people hear: never use sage ever, don’t ever buy it, don’t own it, don’t even look at it.
Look, y’all. There’s a couple of facets to my talk today.
1) Yes! You can buy sage! You really, truly can! Buy it from either native sellers (go to a powwow! Eat our food, buy our stuff, watch some dancing!) Or buy it from a seller who sources the sage from native people. Pick one. And no, buying it from 5 Below doesn’t count.
2) you CANNOT smudge. This isn’t just you “shouldn’t”— this is a YOU ARE INCAPABLE OF SMUDGING. Waving a sage stick around your doorways IS NOT SMUDGING. It is smoke clensing. Smudging, depending on the tradition and tribe, could easily have dancing and drums involved. You, as a white person, do not have the cultural BACKGROUND to even know how it works. At all. Period.
3) please, for FUCKS SAKE, stop making posts here on tumblr where you tell other white people about cultural appropriation and what they can and cannot do. Please stop, your license has been revoked because none of you bother to get the facts right. We native people are FULLY CAPABLE OF DOING IT OURSELVES. Consider instead: a) reblogging our posts where we talk about it! We’re here! We have made posts!! b) Making a post that states what we said and then LINKS BACK TO US. Screenshot with a link if you must. Stop centering your own voices in these conversations. You are already centered in everything, stop centering yourselves in a native space.
I’m tired of this nonsense, y’all.
Thanks for coming to my TedTalk ™

I’ve never really posted anything on here before but my friends mom is in real trouble. If you could please donate or at least circulate this as far and wide as possible it would really help out. Here is a description and link:
Hello, my name is Meibi Mujica, my mother is called Magda Josefina Salas, she is 63 years old, she is Venezuelan, she is currently hospitalized in the General University Hospital Dr. Luis Gómez López in the coronary care unit in the city of Barquisimeto State Lara Venezuela. In Venezuela, it is going through a serious economic and health crisis. And every day that passes medications, routine examinations and medical interventions are more expensive.
I thank you in advance and with all my heart for the help you can give my mother, for her prompt surgical intervention.
Blessings.

HEY.
HEY YOU.
Do you have a few bucks in your pocket? Donate. Do you speak Spanish? Volunteer for calls to translate for attorneys and charities and organizations. Are you in Texas? Volunteer with an organization on site. Are you a lawyer? Volunteer your work. Feel like you can’t do anything at all? SHARE. Tell everyone. Tell every last person you can find.
We put enough pressure on the administration to stop the process, but there’s a LONG way to go to stop the abominable treatment of immigrant families. Most urgently, we need to get these kids back into their parents’ arms. You can help do that. Here’s a list for you to start.

my fave greek history story to tell is that of agnodice. like she noticed that women were dying a lot during childbirth so she went to egypt to study medicine in alexandria and was really fucking good but b/c it was illegal for women to be doctors in athens she had to pretend to be a man. and then the other doctors noticed that she was 10x better than them and accused her of seducing and sleeping with the women patients. like they brought her to court for this. and she just looked at them and these charges and stripped in front of everyone like “yeah. im not fucking your wives” and then they got so mad that a woman was better at their jobs then them that they tried to execute her but all her patients came to court and were like “are you fucking serious? she is the reason you have living children and a wife.” so they were shamed into changing the law and that is how women were given the right to practice medicine in athens

An orange, lemon, and lime spell to break a hex or curse
What you need 1 orange 1 lime 1 lemon 1 sharp knife 1 paper bag 1 jug
Do this on a Saturday morning
- cut each piece of fruit into quarters, first the orange then the lime then lemon. -rub the 12 segments of fruit in turn, first over your right palm and then over your left Palm. Say for each, so I remove all nastiness and I’ll intent from me. -now take each segment as before and squeeze it hard in the jug. Say the same spell words for each. -drop the drained segments into the paper bag and close it. Say: Your power to reach me with your bad intent is dried up, spent. You trouble me no more. -pour the jug of juice down the sink with the faucet running and the plug out say: your power to reach me with your bad intent is washed away, spent you trouble me no more. -when the jug is empty, turn off the tap and let the jug dry upside down. -throw the paper bag in the garbage bin outside your home.

Poppet recipe
Poppets are very versatile and powerful form of sympathetic magic.  (And underrated IMO)   Most of my poppets are made from a salt dough like recipe, of course one could make a cloth poppet, but some of us cannot sew for shit.  This is a quick and easy way to make a basic poppet.
You the basic recipe you will need: 1 cup flour (any type of flour works) ¼ salts (table salt works) 1 cup water 1 dash oil, vegetable oil works just fine 2 tablespoons lemon juice or 1 tablespoon cream of tartar, not both.  This is because of its acidity.
Put all of the ingredients mixed in a pan on low to medium heat.  This mixture will be very sticky but you will need to keep mixing this until it becomes thick and not sticky.  That is when you know the dough is ready and it can be removed from the heat.  This is when you will shape the poppet in the form of what you want, usually a person.  I like to get a photo of the person I am doing a spell on, write their name on the back of the photo and put that paper into the back of the poppet.
When this is done you will either breathe life (X good post by @qedavathegrey on that) into the poppet or bless it (smoke and holy water works fine) and name it.
The thing about this recipe is that more ingredients like oils and herbs can be added into the dough with no issue.  This is what makes poppets so useful as they can be employed in a variety of works.
I find that most liquids work well in place of water, be it tea, war water, etc etc.

i hate when someone says “don’t make jokes about rednecks and hillbillies” and some white 21 year old trying to be ‘woke’ says “haha… go ahead and cry your white tears sweatie (:”
no one thinks it’s a racial issue against white people. that’s not why people say to stop that shit. it’s an issue of classism. because the truth is that the majority of y’all who think you’re amazing activists just REALLY fucking hate appalachian people, and i know that because y’all think it’s funny to say “karma’s a bitch!” when something bad happens to an appalachian state.
you don’t care about the poverty in the appalachia and you don’t care about queer people and/or people of color who live in the appalachia. you don’t care about education in the appalachia and you don’t care that these low rates of education mean higher rates of poverty and child poverty, which persist over the years. rural children are twice as likely to live in areas with persistent poverty. you care that poverty stricken children are statistically less likely to not have timely immunizations, have higher delinquency rates, and have lower academic achievement — but only when we’re talking about urban areas outside of the appalachia.
people in our region die earlier than most. mortality rates are higher in the appalachia, and they’re even higher for people of color that live in the appalachia. suicide rates are higher than anywhere else in the country by 17% — it’s 31% higher in central appalachia, and in rural areas within the appalachia, it’s 27% higher than metro appalachia. cancer morality rate is 10% higher, and it’s 15% higher in rural appalachia than metro appalachia. COPD mortality rate is 27% higher, and 55% higher in rural appalachia than metro appalachia. injury mortality rate is 33% higher, and it’s 47% higher in rural appalachia than in metro appalachia. stroke mortality rate is 14% higher — and you guessed it’s, these rates are higher in rural areas vs metro areas by 8%. the rate of Years of Potential Life Lost, which measures premmature mortality from all causes of death, is 25% higher in appalachia, and 40% higher in rural vs metro areas.
the appalachia has an opioid epidemic. in 2015, our rate of death with drugs was 65% higher than the national average. 69% of those drug deaths were from opioids. these deaths have a connection to our poverty and education rates. the poorer you are, and the less educated you are, the more likely you are to die from an opioid death.
when i say “don’t make jokes about rednecks and hillbillies”, that doesn’t mean i think you’re being racist against white people (and again — the majority of people who claim this also happen to be white 🙄). i say that because you are perpetuating extremely toxic rhetoric about our region, you are promoting stigma, you are encouraging blatant classism, and you are furthering the idea that we somehow “deserve” it because our elected officials vote republican. it’s not cute. stop acting like none of us have the right to call you out on your classist bullshit. like i’m sorry if this comes off as too aggressive but i am sooooo sick of y’all thinking it’s funny that our region is suffering.
and before anyone asks me for resources and links: google exists. i did my research and you can do it too.
EDIT: https://www.arc.gov/assets/research_reports/Health_Disparities_in_Appalachia_Trends_in_Appalachian_Health.pdf here, since y’all are too fucking obnoxiously incapable of taking 2.3 seconds google and instead want to claim I pulled random numbers from my asshole
also here https://www.arc.gov/assets/research_reports/Health_Disparities_in_Appalachia_August_2017.pdf
