Subaru Hoshina…you're enchanting, and I can't help but admire you.

I'm so grateful for you, Subaru. You supported me through everything, and reassured me that I would be fine no matter what. Your soft words, and gentle smiles…they tugged at my heartstrings. And yet, I can't bring myself to say three little words to you. Since I wouldn't want to ruin what we already have.

I've watched you all these months, how you grew to be a better version of you. And I can't help but smile, once l remember it over and over again. I wouldn't want to imagine what would happen, when I ever confess my one-sided feelings for you…

Even if I have to suffer in silence, for the rest of my life. At least I would still be with you, even if just as a friend. Because, I would love you either way.

“Earth to Natsusawa?” Subaru said softly, as she waved a hand in front of his face. She had been trying to get his attention for about a few minutes now.

“Ah!- Hoshina…I'm sorry about that, I was just distracted about something.” He said suddenly, as an embarrassed look appeared on his face. He had been staring at her face, ever since she started writing down in her notebook. She always looked so focused when she did, and he couldn't help but smile at her expression when she did so.

“It's okay, but we should probably get back to studying.” She said with a smile, one of those smiles that made his heart thump in his chest. Her voice was soft, it always was when she spoke with him. And he couldn't help but take pride in that regard.

He smiled back, as he nodded at her. Going back to studying with her, but glancing back at her every few moments. Seeing how her features were focused on the task at hand, and how they softened when she asked him a question.

“I've done the math, there's no solution. We'll never last."

Flowers for an adeptus || xiao x reader

It was a tranquil night, like how it usually was in liyue. Under the watchful gaze of the vigilant yaksha, the conqueror of demons, the mighty adeptus- Xiao. He has been the one to watch over liyue for the past millennia, as a form of payment to Rex Lapis for saving him. 

But…the adeptus was not expecting the sight of someone having already defeated the ‘demons’ that he was about to vanquish.  He felt demonic energy nearby, so, instinctively, he decided to go to it. Yet…there was a girl there, a girl he knew all too well.

A small, barely noticeable smile had fallen onto the adeptus’ face, seeing his beloved again after weeks of being apart. Her back turned towards him as she gently picked up her parasol from the ground, brushing her clothes off as she turned towards him. 

He admired how she always seemed to have such an elegant look to her, despite her rejecting the idea of such. Her beautiful Raven hair falling behind her so softly…Xiao had always wanted to run his fingers through it, to feel the softness of her hair whilst being close to her.

She smiled when she saw him, as she slowly but surely walked towards him. A small blush creeping onto his face when she did, were mortal emotions always this…impactful? Well, he supposed that they were…since he always seemed to feel them when he was with her.

“I got you a gift...”

Her soft voice had enveloped the silence that had befell them, she had held out a bouquet of flowers out to him. Said bouquet included qingxing, silk flowers, glaze lilies, and a few other flowers that he didn't recognize; he figured they must have been from other nations.

“I could very well just pick these for myself.”

He replied curtly as he crossed his arms, trying to hide the slight blush on his face. In reality, he appreciated the fact that she gave him these. Sure- he may have received offerings in the past by multiple people, but this…this wasn't a mere offering. It was a gift from her to him, a sign that she truly cared about him enough to think about him when picking the flowers.

She just let out a little laugh at his reply as she came even closer to him, slowly grabbing his hand so that he could hold the bouquet. Smiling softly at him as she did so, no matter how hard he tried to act cold- she could always see past him anyway. 

“But…thank you, (Y/n).”

He whispered her name gently as he raised his hand gently, cupping her cheek with his hand as he slowly kissed her cheek. It was a gesture that she usually did to him, ever since their relationship. And now…seemed like the right time to finally do it back, since he was already thinking about it anyway.

“Anytime…Xiao.”

She replied with a smile, a surprised look on her face as she felt him kiss her cheek. Well, she certainly didn't expect that. But it wasn't unwelcome, in fact- she liked that he was getting affectionate now. She let out a small giggle as, she too, kissed his cheek in return
