So like, with everything being talked about with Past Life, especially with the somber villains duo moments (“everyone around me dies” as a great example), I’ve noticed most people have overlooked this tidbit from Gem:

“… Everybody on the server already doesn’t like me very much.”

In the context of Gem the character, a world hopper who remembers all her past lives, even the Life series ones (which is normally seen as a trait exclusive to former series winners), it really does hit home how lonely she feels. She’s loved countless lives with these people, loved and lost alongside them, but has never truly felt welcome. In servers with Gods, monsters, infections and even Watchers, she still feels feared. She meets long time friends for the first time over and over again, and yet every time they end up afraid of her. In aw of her. Putting her on all forms of pedestals, unreachable. God’s Favourite Princess. And yet, in most series, she tries to be ordinary, taking less powerful routes than others, and yet she’s still revered, as if fate itself requires it.

And so she feels alone. Stuck in a loop of being held out of reach by others for reasons she doesn’t truly understand. So she decides to just play that role. She’s powerful. She’s scary. She’s deserves to be treated this way. She’s God’s Favourite Princess. But when will God just let her be normal? Will she ever have that life again?

At least Pearl’s there for her. I mean, at least in in Life she’s feared as well. Maybe they can be scary together this time. Maybe she won’t be alone this time.

Necessary addition, but if it’s not in the context of Gem the character, but Gem the person, please don’t harass or push her over this. From my experience, while it feels great in the moment for others to try and tell you you’re loved, it can just make you all the more lonely when the moment has passed. We all love Gem, that’s a guarantee, and we know her friends do as well. But since I personally haven’t gotten past my own feelings like these, I can’t say how we could help her other than watching her content and interacting the same way we already do.

But Gem, if you’re reading this (since you’ve said before you scroll tumblr frequently), please know we don’t hate you, and I’d bet my life that your friends don’t either. And it’s ok to just be you, we’ll always accept you.

Still haven't found the correct replacement inking pens, as evidences here - I really need to just go through the whole drawing supplies collection. And then give these two a redraw. But we persevere.

Missed a few days, but in my defense I spent most of them editing, publishing, and printing a 16-page comic book.

Someday I will actually understand Hypno's skin. Sure, the crop top with the boob window - live your truth, man. But then you look closer and. Track pants, tailcoat, and flipflops? And then you remember he doesn't have a face. And his bandanna is possibly the only thing in Hermicraft the same color as Grian's eyes. And then the photo of your fanart gets corrupted somehow and won't upload. And you just. wonder.

There is not a single horse in either Amphigorey or Cautionary Tales for Children. So Bdubs' horse is heavily based on the Wuggly Ump instead. But that seems somehow appropriate.

Hermit a day may

I have been meaning to both get back in the habit of drawing regularly and post some hermitcraft here instead of just lurking in the tags! So I am going to try to do a whole set of Hermits in a vaguely Gorey style. Since I have to come up with a new Gashlycrumb Tinies hermit rhyme every season anyway just to make sure I'm not forgetting anyone. (yes, they are going to be badly lit sketchbook photos, I just need the external motivation.)
