Really wish people understood that shipping something doesn't always mean that you think the ship is reflective of canon or that it should be canon. A lot of my ships are equivalent to trashy, self-indulgent romance novels, and I like it that way. Yes that character likely is aro/ace or what have you, and I love seeing and talking about the representation. I'm also a horny bastard that tags nsfw and ship content and wants to see them together or play with an idea. We can coexist in a space without me shaming you or you shaming me, I promise.

I fear we lost the plot when people started conflating being a fan with being in a fandom.

Being in a fandom is being part of and contributing to a typically online fan community. You aren't automatically in a fandom just because your a fan.

Fandom is not made for children. Yes, even the My Little Pony fandom isn't made for children. Do I think certain parts of the brony community were wrong for willingly tricking young people into watching extreme gore? Yes. That doesn't change the fact that the MLP fandom isn't meant for children, just like how every other fandom isn't meant for children.

Was I a dumb kid once? Yes, I got into a lot of communities that I shouldn't have been in while I was that young. That doesn't make fandom any less dangerous for minors.
