What do you think about the possibility of demon slayer sequel?
Personally, I prefer a prequel rather than a sequel (if what you meant as a sequel is the story of Demon Slayer casts’ descendants featuring Sumihiko, Yoshiteru, Touko, etc). Even if I do realize there are some unanswered questions and the possibilities of new demons other than Muzan emerging due to the flower Aoba is researching and how Yushiro is still alive, I don’t think a sequel is needed story-wise. (People say they don’t want another Boruto, but I cannot say anything about that since I don’t follow Boruto).
Demon Slayer has a simple premise. At its core, it’s a fight between good guys vs bad guys. There is almost no grey area in Demon Slayer morality, unlike Attack on Titan which gets more political and questioning human nature the more we read it. I’m afraid if, for whatever reason, Gotouge decides to make a story with the same premise but with different casts, it will be repetitive and doesn’t have the same appeal as the original Demon Slayer. I won’t say the ending we have now is the best closure of the story, but the change is unnecessary. There would be so many technical issues if demons and demon slayers reintroduced in the modern eras, such as how Gotouge would explain the training given to these new candidates of slayers, etc. Demon Slayer is not based on an OP protagonist (I mean, Tanjiro is not described as a super OP character even if he has potential ahead of his fellows), so Sumihiko being able to slay demons without established training technique would just make him a basic OP protagonist.
Rather than continuing the story and making new villains from scratch, I want to know more about Muzan and the establishment of the Demon Slayer corps. About Yoriichi, Tamayo, about the Rengoku bloodline. To expand the world, you don’t always need to make something new. You can just explore the area that hasn’t been uncovered yet. It would strengthen the foundation of the Demon Slayer worldbuilding.
(That being said, I actually still want to know how Yushiro and Aoba doing 😢 but it could be answered through a light novel and spin-off rather than a sequel though)
