I'm reading the first Ascendancy book, and I read a little of the original Thrawn trilogy from Legends. I noticed something so far: Zahn never writes in Thrawn's pov. It's always the pov of other characters and their reactions to Thrawn.

Yes!! You're absolutely right! I think that's one of my favorite things about the books. Thrawn always remains this aloof sort of omnipresence.

If you get to the Thrawn 2017 series, Eli's POV is hilarious lol especially in the 3rd book when we get the "Good Day Lieutenant Vanto" bit.

AND it has sparked some really creative outsider POV shippy fics which I ADORE.

Alright at this point no Star Wars writer other than Timothy Zahn should be allowed to touch Thrawn in current canon. Don't look at him, don't think about him, none of that. Don't even breathe in the blue man's direction. If you don't understand the fundamentals of his character, namely the primary force that drives and motivates him to do things, then do not have him do things!!! Create your own character to be the big bad!! Leave him alone.
