What did Lin do except be stupid about history?

I should write a more detailed post thoroughly explaining the shift in perception of LMM these past few years but for now let me link you to this comprehensive thread that lays it out pretty well.

TLDR:

Lin lobbied for the PROMESA bill that gave the US more economic control over Puerto Rico under the guise of debt relief and led to things such as 200 public schools closing down and the privatization if the islands electric authority. He also used Hurricane Maria to promote Hamilton's Puerto Rico debut (at a college with a history of protesting the colonization of Puerto Rico no less) under the guise of fundraising for the arts and culture of the island.

So yeah this isn't just "cringe culture" hitting LMM and his work. People, especially other Puerto Ricans, have very good reason to dislike him.

Please don’t take your pets for granted. Even if you’re frustrated that your dog has been barking all day or your bird has been screaming for attention, remember you are all they have in this world. Give your fish that extra water change. Give your dog or cat that tummy rub they’ve been begging for. Chop up some fresh fruit as a treat for your rodents or reptiles. Just spend some time with them. Be compassionate to your animals. They are living creatures that are alive simply because you wish them to be. They may only be a small part in your life, but to them, you are their everything.

i mean to be clear i think we can all agree it is bad when civilians die. however the israeli state's policies as a settler-colonial genocidal project means that for decades it has been constructing a situation where it is impossible for palestinians to fight back against daily brutal violence without israeli civilians being caught in the crossfire so i think if you are upset about those deaths you should take it up with the government that built cities and invited settlers onto recently stolen land and then committed indiscriminate massacres against the people it was stolen from for decades. but of course most of the people handwringing about israeli civilians are not actually concerned with human life--or if they are, not with a worldview that recognizes palestinians as human

all these white people on here expecting resistance and a fight against colonialism to be a non-violent event can fuck all the way off. you fuckers are so deeply in denial of how israel operates and how its been systemically dehumanizing Palestinians, gunning them down in the streets, gutting their land, shooting down journalists and children, giving a slow and painful death to hundreds if not thousands of illegally imprisoned civilians, running a text-book definition of an apartheid state FOR YEARS.
