Final 12/5/17
12:30- review
12:45- walk cycle, walk away
1:00-edit wonky contact pose frames (F 13, 36, 61, 385, 409, 433)
1:30- reposition frames for walk cycle accuracy (F 95-149)
2:00- break (left off on F 372)
2:10- finish repositioning
2:20- review & image flip (F 446)
2:24- walk back & smaller (begin copy F 373) scale down by 2 per motion?Ā
Overall going well, but I think with time constraint I need to just leave it as it is, because I feel that I wont be able to have the diagonal walk away done where it would look complete. Also, I donāt have diagonal guidelines at this time. So I think rather than add to the narrative I am going to go back now and focus on some details and add a background.Ā
2:39- fill in character so that background doesnāt intersect the body
2:48- close gaps & fill
-saved version unfilled
Goals:
walk away
turn around
walk away, smaller
rework entrance walk? (if time permits)

Final Proposal
A study on walk cycles.
We start by seeing a woman walking slowly in a trench coat, hat, scarf, boots. she looks around and enjoys the walk, very leisurely not a care in the world. We hear a beep. She looks down at her pocket, puts out a phone. We see the phone screen which reads something along the lines ofĀ āmeeting- 10 minutes!ā She returns the phone to her pocket and rushes away.Ā

11/9/17
Today we worked with AR and we also used our walk cycles in real life video. It was kind of hard for me to understand at first because I couldnāt understand what was being said (audio processing doesnāt like multiple auditory stimulus of equal volume) but once I had one on one it made sense and itās really cool! I tested out some of the sample trigger images on aurasma and it was interesting to see how brands used the images.Ā
The other project was a little difficult because I couldnāt figure out how to insert keyframes like Im used to doing in animate cc. Also I moved WAY too much in my video.

axolotl walk cycle work 11/8/17
I was just about done when I realized that the back arm should not be going in front of the tail, so I had to go back and fix that and then copy the 2 frames that applied to to replace every 8th frame. Then I doubled up so that the walk is a bit more seen and a little slower. I wasnāt able to put it on the faculty drive though because it says I need version 8 or higher? I also need to put my rotoscope on there I totally blanked and forgot to last class. doi
Also I started thinking about what I might want to do for the final. Originally, I wanted to do a rotoscope of a cartwheel and āpauseā the video by double/triple/whatever the frames to point out specific points of the cartwheel, like pointed legs and strong arms- sort of an instructional. While I was working on Spaz (my axolotl) I played the animation with half the frames doubled up and half not and it was interesting to me because it looked like Spaz was taking a leisurely stroll and then speeding up as he noticed something. So maybe Iāll do a rotoscope mixed with a cartoon walk cycle to have a subject walking, called to attention (maybe checking their phone or being spoken to) and then having them speed up.Ā

11/7/17 Walk Cycles
Start walk cycles today was daunting. I know how difficult it is to make things realistic, and learning how much I needed to watch for today definitely cemented the complexities. I understood the little blob man once I had the guidelines to use and Blyth pointed out that he was sliding a bit. Iām trying to translate this cycle into my character, an upright axolotl, but itās proving to be tricky. Axolotls do not have the type of legs we do so trying to define the creatures legs with where aĀ āheelā would be is proving difficult. Iām thinking I might redesign my character so he can wear shoes, at least for now while Iām still learning. Maybe a little bowtie, just to really get across that heās no ordinary axolotl now.Ā

November 2nd, 2017
12:30-Weāre rotoscoping today, which Iām super excited about! Since I learned about it, Iāve been so intrigued by it.Ā
idk 1:30ish maybe- I took a little video spinning in my chair and imported it into animate cc and then i started drawing every five frames. I already kind of knew I would like rotoscoping and I am having a lot of fun of it! 2- Once I was done doing every five frames, I created a new layer and drew the background in a gray. Right now it shows the lines of the two layers intersecting, but thatās because I want to go back in and do more in between frames and details before I fill in the shapes. Iām interesting in going back in later and having some of the frames lines lighter or darker or just one section, like one frame head, next frame body, etc.Ā
2:11- i started going back in to add more details like a line for my nose and a line for my eyelashes. im not sure how the eyelashes are going to work though because they are so tiny...
2:26- yeahhh looking at it I hate the nose anywhere it isnt profile. goodbye to that! or maybe i come back in with a small brush if Iām feeling motivated
2:35 took a short break.Ā
I am definitely a mouse and keyboard person.Ā
2:53- Iām saving a version like this where itās unfilled in case I want to come back and work on details but now Iām going to make a new version as well that is filled so i can see it with the background :)
3:05- I started filling and realized pretty darn quickly that ALL MY SHAPES ARE OPEN. So Iāll have to close my shapes before I do too much more. It looks really neat not completely filled and over a fake background though.

DSLRās, depth of field, aperture, shutter
VIDEOS:
Iām not going to pretend that I soaked in that first video (DSLR camera), because I didnāt. I think I understand, but probably Iāll have to watch the video again with captions/transcript to have it really sink in.Ā
How digital color works video: Iāve read a lot and watched a lot about this topic before and it still blows my minds every time. Color theory is so neat, and the way that light works is amazing. I love that we (humankind I guess) figured this out! Itās so cool! The way we perceive color by itās surrounding is so interesting and a little confounding. I think itās weird how yellow is created in light, whereas with paint you canāt mix to make the primary colors. Also itās crazy how all the colors/lights make white, but no light makes black. I like how this video talked about itās informations applications to photoshop.Ā
Aperture:
Yeah, I didnāt know what this was. I only know the word aperture from a video game company name I think? I didnāt know what this was or what F-stop was, but it makes sense and is clearly really useful! (dollarshave club ad was random tho)
Depth of field:
The first video talked a lot about different options and variable and thatās really helpful.Ā
I liked this oneās visuals, that was really helpeful. Iām a little confused as to why the bigger the number the smaller the aperture?Ā
Shutter Speed:
SO this one the bigger denominator the more details you see I think? This was more of just demos than explanation and it seemed like in the 1/30 you saw blurs and stuff and just a stream as water but as you got to 1/4000 you could see lots of the frames and stopping at any moment you could see individual droplets.Ā I liked the little warning they put for indoor lighting, thatās something I feel a lot of beginners would get frustrated with trying to troubleshoot.
Overall, I honestly had a hard time watching these because photography is pretty much one of the only art forms (here anyway) that I donāt have as much interest in. Most of it made sense to me though!
SIMULATORS:
Okay the click-to-focus feature thing is SUPER well done. Literally any pieces could be focused on, even ones that, to me, would make sense to have as the focus.Ā
The second simulator took me a bit to understand, but it definitely helped me get the concepts more.Ā
In general Im glad the simulators were include because they helped the videos make way more sense.Ā
