In may of 1999 in Hong Kong a 14 year old girl showed up at the police station, in hysterics, claiming to be haunted.  Due to protocol the police had to just let her talk. She believed that she was being haunted by a woman who she had taken part in the touture and killing of the year before. The woman was Fan Man-Yee. Man-Yee had a pretty rough childhood. Her parents abandoned her at a young age and she grew up in orphanages, However when she was 16 she got kicked out of the orphanage as she could now 'fend for herself'. This led her to turn to a life of prostitution and drugs. She started out working on the streets and ended up working in a brothel. This is where she met Chan Man-Lok. Who became one of her regular clients. One night for some reason or another she stole his wallet which had 4,000 dollars in it. Man-Lok demanded she pay him back the money. Which she did but he also demanded she pay him 10,000 in interest. She said she would need more time to get the money, Which Man-Lok did not like, because he knew he most likely wouldn't get the money. So, with the help of his Henchmen, Leung Shing-Cho and Leung Wai-Lun, abducted Man-Yee. His plan was to use her as a prostitute until her debt was paid off. The three men along with the thirteen year old girl from earlier lived in Man-Lok's house. The men would also beat and touture her for fun, the girl occasionally joining in. The girl later admitted in court that she liked Man-Yee and that they got along well.  They would beat her with metal pipes, kitchen utensils, and burn the bottoms of her feet. They would melt plastic and wax onto her. she was being beaten and raped all day everyday. Eventually she was so beaten up that she couldn't do anything. She stopped attracting clients but that didn't stop Man-Lok. The touture continued for around a month until one day the girl walked into the bathroom and found , Man-Yee dead in the bathtub. No one really knew what to do with the body. In a period of ten hours they cut up her body and boiled the flesh off of her bones in a pot on the stove. Her skull was hidden in a hello kitty mermaid doll. Because all the police found of her body was her skull a few organs and a tooth, they couldn't determine the cause of death or prove that they killed her. All three of the men were charged with manslaughter and the girl wasn't charged. The men got life in prison with no possiblity of parol for 20 years

Junko Furuta was a 17-year-old girl from Tokyo Japan. She was brutally tortured, raped, and murdered by four young men, Hiroshi Miyano, Jō Ogura, Shinji Minato, and Yasushi Watanabe, for no other reason then she refused a date. On November 28th, 1988 Junko was riding her bike home from work when a boy knocked her off of her bike and disappeared into the hedges that he came out of. Another boy witnessed the incident and offered to walk her home. She said yes because she recognized him from school. His name was Hiroshi Miyano. Junko let her guard down, and Hiroshi led her to an abandoned warehouse. It was there where he started acting aggressive towards her, claiming that he had connections in the Yakuza and if she didn't do what he said he would have her killed. He proceeded to rape her and then take her to a hotel and rape her again. This would mark the beginning of the last 44 days of her life. After kidnapping her, She was forced to call her home to say that she had run away with someone and told her parents to stop looking for her. She was kept at Shinji Minato’s house. As far as Shinji Minato’s parents were concerned, Junko Furuta was their son’s girlfriend. As far as Shinji Minato and his friends Hiroshi Miyano, Jo Ogura, and Yasushi Watanabe were concerned, however, Junko was their captive, their sex slave, and their punching bag. From the time of her abduction to the time of her death she was raped over 400 times by god knows how many men. She was raped and sodomized with foreign objects, including fireworks, a lit lightbulb, and kebabs. She was forced to eat cockroaches and drink urine. She was lit on fire, hung from the ceiling, and beat. Minato’s parents eventually began to catch wind of what was really going on. However, the threat of the Yakuza was enough to keep them quiet. The police were notified twice of the condition of Junko, both times they failed to save her. The first time, a boy who had been invited over to the Minato house by Miyano went home after seeing Furuta and told his brother about what was happening. The brother then told his parents, who contacted the police. The police showed up but were assured by the Minato family that there was no girl inside. The answer was clearly satisfactory enough for the police, as they never came back. The second time, it was Furuta herself who called, but before she was able to say anything, the boys discovered her. When the police called back, Miyano assured them it had been a mistake.

On January 4, 1989, Junko died. The boys had reportedly become enraged when she beat them at a game of mahjong and tortured her to the point of death. Scared of being charged with murder, the boys dumped Junko Furuta’s body in a 55-gallon drum, filling it with concrete before dropping it on a cement truck. 

Two years after the gruesome murder, on July 20, 1990, the sentences were passed. Hiroshi Miyano, the group leader, was sentenced to 20 years in jail, the maximum sentence before life imprisonment. Jō Ogura got 8 years in juvenile jail. Nobuharu Minato and Yasushi Watanabe got 5–9 years and 5–7 years, separately. Most of the others who were involved in the rape were neither found nor tried by Japanese Court. Now all the murderers are out of jail. Three out of four have been arrested for other crimes since their release.
