“How do you not know what that means? Aren’t you younger than me?” They asked the other with a laugh. “It basically means I was kicked out of one town and sent to another one. It’s just a funny word thing.” He explained. “I don’t remember where I was before coming here, my mind’s still a bit wonky. I don’t know if that’s because of this town or if that was the years of drinking I did.”

"so?” she questioned. “just because i’m younger doesn’t mean i’m from this time.” she shrugged her shoulders and shook her head. which was entirely true, though she didn’t exactly care to want to admit it out loud. kat didn’t like to think that it was all something that she’d been brought to, but she had no control over what she knew and didn’t know because of her disadvantage with the time. shrugging again kat looked up, “could be a mix of both. drinking and winding up here, possibly.”

sam hated the position she was in, she’d never experienced the inability to come to the bottom of things prior to havenfall, she couldn’t help but feel defeated. sam wasn’t going to give up, she just needed a minor distraction so she could find the motivation to work on solving things again. she figured that clover would like the idea of a shopping spree, she liked to believe she knew her friend rather well. sam nodded, giving clover a small smile.  “  okay, let’s get going. i’m sure there are tons of stores you wanna visit.  ”

clover nodded her head at sam’s words, “there’s a ton of shops i think you’ll like too!” she grinned. she knew sam must feel a bit defeated if she hadn’t figured out everything about getting them home just yet. but she hoped that maybe getting her into a shopping spree would be a good idea. “we can start at the mall! there’s this boutique called clothes over bros that i love.”

“I’m not sure yet.” Michael admitted as he continued to look through the list of choices. “What about you? I think the only thing I won’t get into is anything dealing with raspberries. I never really seemed to get into the flavor. I also think I am might be allergic because it always makes my tongue feel weird.”

sabrina shrugged her shoulders, “i’ve been thinking about trying some of the new winter flavors or something.” she answered. she’d been looking at the menu for a while and hadn’t really decided on what she wanted. “either that or maybe the coffee chip one.”

“Yes, I do. A brother and a sister, actually. I don’t think we’re actually related but we all three ended up in the same place together and I consider us to be family.’ Michael nodded at the other and hummed. ‘It did, a lot of time. I guess it kind of pays off to have time on your hands, while everyone else is out trying to have a life and shit.” Michael nodded. “Okay cool. I will bring my stuff over tomorrow when I come to work and if you are here, you can look around and see what you like.” He offered to her with a smile. “That sounds like a good idea to me. Never know, maybe I can fly out of here eventually.”

“oh, that’s nice. i don’t have a family by blood, but i have a group of people who i would call family.” she explained. she had never really thought about family before all of this happened, before being confronted with everything. but then she realized it was nice to have people who she was close to and that was better than the family she had been related to to begin with. “sounds like a plan.” she said with a nod of her head. she shrugged her shoulders, “i mean, who knows how we’ll get out of here. we might have to fly out.”

charming wasn’t too familiar with current day terms, but he supposed that a date was probably what it was called when a couple went out and did things together.  “  yeah, like a date,  ”  he replied, nodding slightly. without constantly being forced to partake in some sort of event, he had an actual opportunity to enjoy himself and spend his time however he wanted to.  “  i haven’t decided that part yet, but i’d be open to go anywhere, really.  ”

cinderella smiled at her husband and nodded her head, “i think that sounds like a wonderful idea.” they had met at the ball and this place, this time, was so different than the world they were used to. it was nice to think that they could explore the world here together. “alright! well, we can walk around and figure something out? that could be fun!”

“I know right?” Jane laughed softly, nodding in agreement with the other. They truly did spend a lot of their time with the boys. It was just them and Max and then it was the gang of idiots, as Jane likes to call them sometimes as a joke. “That sounds like a good idea to me! I honestly am excited to try these new video games, because I’ve heard some great things about them. Apparently they have laptops here and I am not sure what they are meant to be useful for, but so far I can’t find any complaints about it. it is really useful with my homework.” They commented. “That is so awesome! I can’t wait to see her! Now if only my dad was here, then I think this town could be pretty cool. Although I do kind of miss Hawkins. Never thought I would.’

max nodded her head at the comment and smiled, “i know, the video games sounds like it would be fun. have you seen all of the giant tv screens? i can’t believe how big they got.” she shook her head. it was crazy to think about. but it was still weird to her to think about all this new technology. max laughed softly and nodded her head, “right? but the laptops have been good. all the computers have been helpful with school work. i didn’t think that technology would so advanced i’d need some sort of cheat sheet to keep up, but it’s hard to think of it all. but it’s pretty good.” the redhead explained with a nod of her head. it was true that she was still balancing all of it. “yeah, we could use hopper in town.” she said with a nod of her head.

eric was glad that he’d already been familiar with havenfall, he’d have probably been on the fence about the town like many other people if he wasn’t. he nodded at her words, listening carefully.  “  yeah, i can understand that. i’m sure it isn’t easy being away from the people in your life,  ”  he stated, relating to that entirely.  “  there’s always a chance those people could show up here, too.  ”

nancy nodded her head, “yeah, i keep thinking about my little sister and my parents. i’m just glad my brother is here.” she said. which was true. but she couldn’t help thinking about her other family. and then their friends that she hadn’t seen in town yet, and it’s not like she expected to see them any time soon. “but i guess this place could be worse, too.”

nodding, raven stood up, picking up her coffee cup before she started to head to the back, “if it’s buried i think we should check where the books we don’t put out for the public are.” she stated, picking up the keys from the desk, leading the way a second later.

sidney nodded her head following the other’s lead. “here i was just hoping it would be hidden behind a book on a shelf like in one of those really bad movies my friends used to make me watch. y’know. move a book, find a clue. that sort of thing.” she shrugged her shoulders as she walked. she knew it was a long shot, but that’s why she’d started by looking on random shelves.

brooke hadn’t ever been responsible for an animal, it was different than being the person a human relied on, but it was still strange to get used to. she nodded at haley’s words, she figured that they had their hands full with taking care of jamie and a rabbit. brooke was glad she’d gotten a cat, though, as the animal was more independent and she had a self cleaning litter box that was a game changer.  “  well, don’t you think you’d be able to take the animal with you if you had to leave ?  ”

haley shrugged her shoulders, “i would hope so.” she said with a nod of her head. she didn’t know how things worked in this place. but it was all kind of interesting in this place. she didn’t know what to trust sometimes. it felt so real, but not entirely like she was ready to believe in it all either. “i think it’s hard to think about getting a pet, but i think if we showed up home with a pet the kids would have a lot of questions.”

Tk chuckled softly at that. “I get that. Sometimes law enforcement can be a bit untrustworthy. It’s up to you, really. If you want to press charges, you’ll have to wait of course but if you don’t want to, then you don’t have to wait. However, once you’ve decided how about I treat you to some ice cream. That makes everything better. Trust me.”

"untrustworthy. incompetent. take your pick.” nancy commented back bluntly with a light lull in her voice. she knew it might sound a bit bitter, but it was rather true. at least in her case. “oh, no. i’m not going to be pressing charges or anything. i was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time for their spat or whatever you want to call it.” she shrugged her shoulders. “though, i won’t say no to ice cream. that might make the day better.”

mike furrowed his brows slightly, wondering if his roommate had experienced some weird sort of paranormal experience. mike would’ve believed any stories he’d heard about paranormal encounters, after all, he’d witnessed them himself.  “  ….  —-   haunted  ?  ”  mike asked, canting his head slightly.  he nodded in agreement, though he dreaded discovering what that event was going to be.  “  well, i just hope it’s not going to be absolutely horrible.  ”

sometimes nancy forgot that while she wasn’t in horseshoe bay anymore--would she ever wind up back there? she hoped--she was around people who may not have the same experiences she did. and randomly mentioning a haunting may be a bit off the cuff for some of them. she shrugged her shoulders, “oh, it’s no big deal. lot of weird stuff happens where i’m from.” she explained with a light tone and a half smile. though, sure, not all of it was light. “i’d say at least we have each other. but truth is i don’t really know you all that well, so you might ditch me if something were to happen.” she joked, though raised her eyebrows as if it were a question.

“That really sucks for me. I like being hidden with my runes.” Alec admitted. It was easier for him to be in the shadows because less people would bother him. He had random people coming up to him and wanting to talk to him, he didn’t understand why. He wasn’t that interesting of a person. “That’s very true. What kind of supernaturals did you have back where you lived before coming here?” He asked, a little curious considering it seemed that different people had heard of different supernaturals and some didn’t know that other’s existed.

"maybe you can just lurk in the actual shadows instead.” sabrina shrugged her shoulders. though she didn’t think that would really work too well, but at least it was a suggestion. “oh, well, i lived in the mortal world. so there weren’t many around me. but i’d met a few kinds of witches, trolls, cupid, familiars, quizmasters, witch hunters.” she explained the list with a shrug of her shoulders as she continued on. it was a long one and she could probably continue on, but those were the the main ones she could think of off the top of her head right then.

rapunzel turned her head in the direction of the person who had struck up a conversation with her, she was briefly uncertain of how to answer the question, she was still trying to get a complete opinion of havenfall, but she supposed she didn’t have many complaints about the town, apart from the obvious one that everyone else had.  “  oh, i think it’s a nice town. right now i’m trying to taste test all the flavors of ice cream they’ve got.  ”

“all the flavors of ice cream?” sabrina asked. this was definitely different than working at scorch magazine. there she might be listening in to working with a band or a famous actor. here it was ice cream or something like that no matter who she’d picked to ask the question to. “are you going by alphabet or by what you think you might like most?”

“We’ll take that for another day. For now, I will keep my hair the length it is and we can think if new hairstyles. I’ve not done much to it, if I’m being honest. My dad wasn’t really that educated with the female hair and attire.” Jane admitted. Hopper did try of course, but sometimes it could be hard if you were used to being a guy, and the age that he was, he was taught that a guy and a girl were two different things. “That is good! I don’t know how I’d feel about something painful. Wow. I swear this town really is advanced, isn’t it? Althlough I did come from the 80′s and this timeline is in the future, so that could be it to! Only thing that was different in Back to the Future is that they had flying cars and there aren’t any here.’

"i can’t really expect most dads to be super educated in our fashions. i mean, even my own brothers weren’t. they definitely need help when it comes to buying presents and things.” clover shrugged her shoulders. but it was true, not all guys were really good at figuring everything out when it came to women’s fashions. but she couldn’t say all of them were hopeless. “yeah, i think back to the future lied about a lot of things. but that’s also the same thing as all those kinds of future movies like that old cartoon the jetsons? totally gonna turn out to be a lie too i’m sure. no way we can advance like that by then.”

thorn missed her music, she just couldn’t bring herself to play it in havenfall, not when she didn’t have her bandmates and best friends there with her. she canted her head slightly as she observed clover with the guitar, listening intently as she spoke.  “  well, to tell you the truth, no, but i know that happens to a lot of people, and it’s totally okay. right now, i just can’t let myself play music, it feels wrong.  ”

"well, music isn’t exactly my main thing so it’s just something i do when i need a bit of, uh, stress relief and to get my mind off of everything else. maybe that’s why it’s all left me.” she explained with a shrug of her shoulders, a light laugh as she spoke. music had always been fun for clover. except when it came to finding crimes with musicians--those always wound up terribly for her. it was not fun. “but i can see why it would be wrong. you’re in a band or something?”
