" Presents a small cake which isn't decorated very nicely but it's easy to tell that there was an attempt to make it look presentable, " Baking's kind of hard but this one came out pretty good. Figured we could enjoy this and then maybe go out later, to celebrate. I promise it's good. " Pulls their brother into a hug, " Happy birthday, Hikaru. " [ Sending this in early. Hope that's cool! ]

Hikaru was a little surprised, honestly. They were a couple of silver spooned brats, after all. Hikaru himself could barely make toast by himself, let alone cake. Clearly Kaoru had  been busy. The older twin’s expression had lit up at the sight of it, and was more than happy to reciprocate the hug he was pulled into. 

“Happy birthday, Kaoru. I... really suck, because I couldn’t think of anything to get you,” When they wanted something, they got it. It wasn’t like either had really yearning for  something to be bought for them. Neither of them really did that, so gifts for birthdays felt impossible sometimes. Just being together on their birthday was more than enough for Hikaru.

“The cake does really look good, though. Let’s give it a taste, what do you say?”

i’ve been productive today with working on blog maintenance but good lord i wish i could just........ get the second half of this promo so i could finish it. i bought a promo template and I’ve been trying to get the matter settled for over a week. sigh i just wanna be able to get stuff done, man.

he  wasn’t  buying  it.     cassandra  could  tell  by  the  unmoved  expression  her  father  wore,   &   it  only  made  her  face  heat  up  more.     by  the  shining  stars,   why  did  he  have  to  ask  this  NOW  ?     or  better  yet,   why  did  he  ever  have  to  ask ?     it  wasn’t  that  she  was   EMBARRASSED   about  missy.     far  from  it.     but  things  had  always  been   .   .   .   lowkey  between  them.     private.     discussing  it  with  her  father,   out  of  the  blue,   wasn’t  something  she  prepared  for  just  yet,   &   now  it  left  her  floundering  for  excuses.

Onoik was somewhat surprised that he was getting his far. He wondered if this must’ve been awkward he’d been as a young man while he was still in the infancy of his relationship with Soten. Bashful and unable to get the words out. It all felt so long ago, he couldn’t genuinely recall. He had no  answer of similarity or not. 

Whatever the answer may’ve been, though, he couldn’t help but be thankful. Onoik himself wasn’t an totally private man, but it was no secret that he really hadn’t had anyone to be romantically involved with for decades now. First discovery had taken hold of him, then adventure, then teaching, and knighthood-- then for so long he was consumed by his  attempts to balance his position with newfound fatherhood. He didn’t have the time for romantic interests. He found himself relieved that Cassandra didn’t appear to be in the same hole he was in.

“Nice girl. Happy for you,” He would leave it there if that was  what she wanted. “Not an expert at things, but you can talk to me if you need to,” Onoik would gently remind.
