Literally everyone I shared my vision with has laughed in my face. SO, this blog will be a photo/video journal, documenting my successes (and my learning opportunities.)

The wait is killing me...
...this will be the beginning of a whole chapter of my life. I am so ready to leave Dallas and start afresh. Being able to travel the western United States will be a great edition to the list of places I have visited. Beyond this blog I am trying to think of a physical way I can document my journey. Rocks from each place? Soil? Those seem stereotypical but I will think of something.

..location research. Google earth combined with the bureau of land management's website is extremely helpful. I'm going to start in northern Arizona and work my way ending up in Idaho or Washington.

Recently...
...I had to tell another girl to beat it. I don't know why I keep attracting the exact same woman. Overweight, insecure, clingy, obsessive, with dash of loony toons. When I was living in Arkansas I was seeing a girl and when I tried to break up with her she went crazy. She kicked dents in my car, called my parents and threatened them, told me she was pregnant. The whole nine yards. After that I have been inventing creative ways to shake off these chubby animaniacs. I have found that the only way to make a clean exit is to get them to do it. I told one that I thought she was spying on me for the government. I told this last girl that I was suicidal and that I thought we should end it all together so we would never be apart. Never seen a quicker exit.
Now! Before you go all judgmental on me, take into consideration that these women are not well. These situations are not normal. If I could say, "Hey listen I don't think we're a good fit. I don't want to talk to you anymore but best of luck!" Then I would just say that. These chicks are nuts. This one yesterday was a redhead. We all know how they can be. About a week ago she told me that she had called CPS (Child Protective Services.) and filed an anonymous report saying her ex was abusing his kids because, "He was a dick so fuck him." She laughed about it like it was funny. Where do these people come from? After she told me that I started making my escape plan.

Finally...
...finished the list of gear I'm going to order from Proline. $10,877. Not including shipping. If the shipping is more than 5-6 hundred I'm probably going to just drive 26hs straight through and then straight through on the way back with my brother or dad.

This is a Gold Cube!
It cleans your concentrates down to the point where you are just about ready to throw your gold on the stove and cook the chaffe off. It is the second to last stop for the earth that I will have classified down. There are several different machines that do this but the Gold Cube does the most volume. People who don't intend to move as much volume as I will be moving should consider a blue bowl. Blue bowls are cheaper and easier to operate.

I'm trying to find...
...someone to partner up with. I need another set of hands and eyes. I don't really know anyone who is free or who wants to go prospect for three weeks at a time or who I trust not to try and screw me over. For example, if we are doing an even split after expenses but he/she found a large piece and decided to pocket it. Or if they were lazy that would be a problem. I don't even know how to advertise for something like that.

Don't you just hate that punk bitch who says, "I won't fight you." in front of a big crowd and you know it's because he's a coward. He is acting like he has taking some moral high ground but in reality he has just never bled before. What this guy didn't know was that I have been the "bad guy" my entire life and I have absolutely no problem whatsoever being the "bad guy". It felt good.

I pay dues...
...to two different organizations. One is GPAA (Gold Prospecting Association of America) and AMRA (American Mining Rights Association). This gives me access to 100+ claims in the US. Presently, the first state I'm going to is Arizona! I intend to work north from there. I haven't decided if I'm going to spend the summer in Idaho/Montana or Alaska.
When I get my feet underneath me I will start saving to get my own claim(s). I am not expecting to "strike it rich" or become a millionaire. Thats not what this is. But if a person is willing to work at it and do manual labor they can make a living. This really appeals to me on a variety of levels. 1. It allows me to work on my own and for myself. No supervision no coworkers. Over the past year I have come to the conclusion that I will be a lot happier on a solo project. 2. It allows me to travel. I love moving around. 3. The harder I work the more it pays. I get so tired of being the one working harder than anyone else but getting paid the same. This is all up to me. 4. Problem solving! I will have to look at a topo map and figure out where to go. I have to decide where to test. How to get my gear and fuel in/out. 5. Camping. I love it. I have loved being outdoors since I was a teenager. I will be base camping for 15-20 maybe 30 days at a time. Very exciting.

This isnt the same brand as mine but mine looks ALOT like this. That chest valve is two hundred extra but worth it. Built in knee pads. Built in diving boots. When mine comes in I will post a picture wearing it. This will be one of the last items to come in though. I am getting this tailor made for me. So I took my measurements and sent them to Proline.

This will be the crown jewel of my equipment arsenal! A 4" Proline Suction Dredge is just small enough so that I can move it around on my own but it's larger than the 3" by about 60hp. Proline is a really great company. I have been emailing back and forth with the owner. He is packaging the dredge and my drysuit.

First post!
I am very excited to be back on tumblr. I have missed it. I will be following some of my favorite blogs from my old tumblrs but I wont be reblogging. I dont want to get deleted again and my goal here is just to document my travels.
So! Prospecting? How the hell did I get a crazy idea like that? I was looking for a new hobby and metal detecting caught my eye. While I was browsing through metal detectors I kept finding more and more equipment. I followed links and I found out that people actually do this for a living. There are several reasons as to why prospecting for precious metals has become a viable profession again. The first is the price of gold has gone up. It's resting around $1200 an ounce. The second reason is the new technology and new equipment. We now have the ability to recover super fine gold. Also, within the last 25 years we have been gifted with personal dredges. Dredges are underwater vacuum cleaners. Up until recently dredges were massive! As big as barges. But now we have dredges that you can pack on your back. And finally we have the ability to work earth we couldn't get to before. There is still "virgin" ground in Alaska, Russia, the Bering Sea, etc where people have never prospected. The statistic that really caught my attention was from the national geographic survey that said we have only unearthed 15-20% of the accessible gold in the world.
I will begin my work in April or May. Right now I am getting the gear together. These first couple months will be me posting pictures and videos of opening boxes and journaling my thoughts and goals. I hope you will enjoy following me around the world. This is going to be so much fun!
