blue eyes continue study the clerk as he leans forward , seeming to give her more of his attention. the closer he leans , jessica can see the vein within his neck. she hopes she isn’t staring , as the juicy artery thumps just beneath the thin skin protecting it. his voice pulls her focus away from his neck , quickly meeting his gaze. god , it still feels so weird , even a year later. looking at a person , and having this intense desire to just … eat them. drain them. it makes her feel — — well , kind of gross , if she’s being honest. but that doesn’t stop her from wantin’ it.

❛  uh — — honestly ? probably. my parents were … very strict ,  ❜ she tells him , somewhat weakly , thinking of the way her father used to beat her with a belt for so much as being late to clarinet practice , ❛ i wasn’t even allowed to watch spongebob , ❜ the vampire adds with an awkward chuckle in return , fuck , she’s so lame , isn’t she ? he thinks she’s totally lame. bright , blue hues focus on the graphic horror above his head once more , as he names the film. the gore doesn’t bother her , not on the screen , anyway. but she does wonder what it will be like , when she does finally feed from a person for the first time. if it would feel as gross as she thinks it will , regardless of how badly her body seems to crave it.

they really oughta start keeping stuff open later. haven’t vampires been out in the open for like … ten years now ? jessica can’t understand what’s taking everybody so long to catch up , but she’s not only a young vampire , she’s young in general. naive. when the clerk takes the tape and follows it up with a scoff , jessica can’t help but suddenly feel a little embarrassed. he looks about her age , and of course the romcom in his hand would make a person like him scoff. he seems … cool. way cooler than anyone jessica’s ever been allowed to hangout with. bet he smokes weed.

jessica notices the way his body language seems to shift after learning she’s a vampire , but he doesn’t seem afraid. quite the opposite , actually , as she confirms with a timid nod of her head. shyly , she tucks red locks behind her ear , trying to suppress an embarrassed grin at his comment about her rental , ❛  hey , don’t make fun’a me—  ❜ a pause as eyes move to read his name tag , ❛  ian. i’ve got a lotta movies to catch up on now that i can actually watch ‘em for once. i just got outta my momma and daddy’s house for the first time , and this is just what my maker thought i woulda wanted to watch , ❜ that was kind of a lie. jessica definitely asked bill to pick this up. and she definitely thoroughly fucking enjoyed it. ❛ ya got any suggestions for me , since you’re the expert ? what are ya watchin’ right now ? ❜ her eyes fall upon the television screen yet again , and god , even the fake blood is making her so hungry.
