“Oh, I didn’t mean to bother you,” Everleigh assured with a warm smile. She’d noticed that Caroline had been painstakingly revising her work, so she wanted to offer some help. “I just wondered if you wanted a second opinion, or maybe a coffee or something. I don’t know how you can keep going like that non-stop,” she pointed out, admirably.

“i -- could probably use a second opinion, actually,” she admitted, turning the laptop to face everleigh. “it’s a research essay on the origins of the printing press, and i’ve been staring at it for so long that some words are starting to not look like real words anymore.”

“There actually is quite a fair bit I can do all by my lonesome, but technically final fittings do require the actual body I’m dressing up to be on set. Or the trailer, to put it more specifically.” Her words rang through as deeply unimpressed, even when she was slightly curious as to what the actress was up to. Not actually everybody on set put anything else on top of their jobs nowadays - specially not their education. “I promise I can make it as painless as possible if you focus on me for twenty minutes, tops. You’re one of the least troublesome of the cast.”

caroline gave reagan a weary smile, pushing her glasses up her nose. “sorry, i just -- i was supposed to have two more weeks in stanford before i drove back, and the six hour drive alone put me way behind schedule. i almost considered staying here for the weekend to save time, but i won’t be able to get anything done at home.” realizing she was rambling, she closed her laptop and rose from her seat. “final fittings, okay. let’s go.”

       “ THERE would be no point of eating when you’re dead, but go off i guess. ” he’ll blame the reason for him hanging around on avoiding work –– it’s not totally untrue. “ relax, caro. have you ever failed anything in your life? besides like, the ability to pass as human and not reveal yourself for the robot you are. just chill. eat a fuckin’ donut. ” he looks down at the one in his hand, already three quarters gone. “ or, you know, something else. ”

caroline looked up again, lips pursed. “you’re not gonna give this up, are you?” she asked, though it was more of a statement than a question. sighing, she saved her document again and closed her laptop. “keep your quarter donut; there’s a sushi place down the block that knows my order.” and she had their number saved in her favorites, of course. she pulled out and unlocked her phone; three quick taps and she held the phone up to her ear, lips pressed together. “hi, yes; it’s caroline. yes, the usual. thank you.” she ended the call and slipped her phone back into her purse, glancing down at the kat wardrobe she was still clad in. “i shouldn’t wear these off the lot...” she mused, wondering if she had enough time to change, get her food, and change back before she was needed on set again.

       THE ATTITUDE he has nearly dissipates when his eyes meet the donut. if there’s one thing to know about matthias, it’s that most problems can be solved with food. “ hell yeah, ” he scoops it up without hesitation, only pausing after he’s taken a bite equivalent to half its size. with his mouth still nearly full, he frowns at her. “ did you eat yet today? you know, we get breaks for a reason. ” he says, looking pointedly at her computer. 

caroline pursed her lips and turned her eyes back to her laptop, eyebrows furrowing as she resumed typing. “i’ll eat when i’m dead,” she mumbled, knowing just how ridiculous that sounded. “i have to drive back to stanford after we’re done today and that’s six hours of revision time out the window. i have to take advantage of every free second i have.”

      HIS mouth is open, fully ready to launch the question he has when he’s stopped by a pointed finger in the air. eyebrows raised, he pauses and blinks, rolls his eyes as he waits. of course she’s working –– when is she not? “ i was just gonna ask if the fuckin’ crew ate all the donuts again. i‘m hungry –– when are we gonna start ordering our own? ”

caroline reached onto the table next to her, producing an untouched donut. “if it’ll quiet you down, you can have mine,” she said, her lips forming a frown as they always did when she came within close proximity of matthias. “i’m not much of a donut person, anyway.”

in full hair and makeup and wardrobe for an unforeseen reshoot, caroline sat behind her trusty laptop, her fingers flying across the keyboard at lightning speed. when she heard someone approach, she held up one finger -- her other hand still typing away. once she finished her sentence, she saved the document and looked up. “my final paper is due at the end of the week and i’m only halfway through my third set of revisions. i’m horribly behind schedule, so what is it and can it be taken care of quickly?”

he’s a professional hockey player tho so she still has to deal w seeing him in the press all the time

she originally read for rebecca, then got called in for maddie, then emily, and finally got the call from her agent saying she booked the role of kat !!
