no, perhaps too early. god, you didn’t even know anymore. there’s so much going on in your mind that you, ironically, didn’t know what was going on. you were curled into a ball, with your hands over your head as an attempt to silence everything. 

it was too much. the little voices in your head were too much. telling you everything and anything but good. you wanted it to stop. you wanted to get sleep, to get rest, heck, even just some time with silence would be a pretty damn good thing to have right now. 

‘just let it be over already,’ you tell your unstopping mind, ‘let me sleep, goddamn it, let me-

‘a penny for your thoughts?’

a soft, tired voice startles you. you pull your head out of your arms and meet the hazel-coloured eyes of your boyfriend.

you let out a gentle, pained laugh as your hands move to wipe away tears on your face that you were not aware of. ‘not quite worth a penny, really.’

he wraps his arms around your torso and your body is suddenly engulfed in his. he buries his face into the crook of your neck and his hair tickles your face a little.

‘nonsense, i’d pay two, or three, or four, or even millions or trillions if you wanted.’

a tender smile appears on your lips. ‘in the morning, maybe?’

he pulls you down and close so that you’re wrapped in his comforting scent.

‘whenever you’re ready, princess.’

tis dec 31 2020! meaning it’ll be a completely new year in a couple of hours, and i’ve decided to write some brief stuff about this year.

honestly, this year was really crappy. starting with the pandemic and then online school and not being able to see friends, a lot of things really took a toll on my mental health.

with that being said, i don’t regret having this year. it’s definitely made me learn a lot, and also made me fall back in love with haikyuu and thus the forming of this blog hehe

i wanted to say a big thank you to every single one of my followers! thank you guys for sticking around, and i hope we will grow more in the future :)) i do apologize for not writing as much as expected, but rest assured that more content is coming out!

how these words could contain more adoration and love than you’ve ever known is beyond you. it simply didn’t make sense. teasing and taunting words said with the tiniest pull upwards on the corner of his mouth. the barely noticable blush on his cheeks. the little glint of affection in his brown eyes. they always contradicted to his words but never his emotion. 

gently pulling your arm, he leans backwards until you topple over him on his bed with a soft ‘oomf’. you let out a small giggle and bury your face into his neck.

‘say, kei, how come you’re so nice to me?’

‘in case you forgot, idiot, i’m your boyfriend. and i’m pretty sure telling you to shut up isn’t a super nice thing.’

‘mhm, yeah, right.’

the two of you lay in a comfortable silence for minutes before you speak up again.

‘it just doesn’t make sense to me, y’know? how i got the world’s most taunting and cold-blooded soul to be my gorgeous boyfriend.’

he scoffs, but pulls you a little tighter.

‘i guess that’s a problem you’ll never solve.’

lifting your head a little, you stare into his eyes.

‘kei?’

‘what?’

‘i love you.’

his blush turns from a soft tint to apparent as he pulls you back down, and the answer to you is clear as day.

‘yeah, whatever, i love you too.’

it’s been a bad day, you tell yourself.

a bad day, a bad week, at this point, maybe even a bad month. 

dark, uncaring thoughts keep fogging over your mind. the future seemed so uncertain, ambiguous, you weren’t sure what was going to happen. all you wanted to do was to have a full grasp, to say confidently that you know what you will do. but that didn’t seem possible now. 

what happened? why are you like this? why can’t you be sure about the future, even if it’s just a little aspect of it? why-

“hey, yn!”

two simple words snap you out of your thoughts. you raise your head to the sight of your boyfriend with slightly furrowed brows, reaching out to wipe away the wetness on your face. you hadn’t realized you were crying. 

“what’s wrong, angel?”

you sniff a little, smiling slightly. “the future, [redacted].”

you yelp as he pulls you into his arms unexpectedly, knocking you off-balance. 

“scared?”

“terrified.”

he squeezes you to his chest for a moment, silent. his warmth wraps around you as you inhale his calming scent. 

“that’s alright, yn,” he says after a while, “you don’t have to be certain of it. no one could be certain of it, could they?”

he slides his fingers through your hair and leaves a warm kiss on your forehead. 

“but no matter what happens, i’m always here. every step of the way, and you know that. i’ll be beside you no matter what happens in the future.”

perhaps for the first time in a while, hope seemed to glimmer in the future.

you loved sunday evenings. because sunday evenings meant cuddles and kisses and movies, peaceful rain outside, tired conversations and soft bickering from your boyfriend.

boyfriend. was that even the right term anymore?

it was a dumb argument. a really, really dumb argument. to be honest, you’ve forgotten most of it anyways. but for some reason neither of you were having a good day that day and a tiny argument escalated to a huge fight within minutes, ending with a slam of the door and you on the ground, salty tears streaming down your face.

suddenly sundays weren’t your favourite days anymore. the rain was more sorrowful than peaceful and everything felt empty. you were homesick even though you were in your exact home. what were you missing? it’s just a sunday, there’s a bit of rain outside, you could just put on a movie and grab some snacks, maybe, then go for some cuddles.

oh.

curling up into a ball, you hug yourself almost desperately, sobs escaping your mouth. you desperately wanted to be hugged. kissed, you wanted to see his smile.

and you hated yourself for that, the fact that you wanted him to come back even though you should be mad at him. 

there’s a soft knock at your door and you flinch. quickly wiping the tears off of your face, your take two deep breaths and hope that your eyes aren’t as red as you think they are. opening the door, you looked into the eyes of the person you still loved most.

“[redacted]?”

without giving you more time to think, he wraps his arms around you and squeezes you tight. breathing in his scent, you can’t help but let more tears fall as you shake a little in his embrace.

“god, yn. i’m so sorry,” he said, voice cracking a little but neither of you acknowledge it, “it was so dumb. i was so dumb. please let me make this work again. it never should’ve happened. i had a terrible day but that’s not an excuse to treat you like shit. i’m sorry.”

unable to speak, you squeeze him tighter. nodding into his chest, it was a signal that both of you were willing to work this out again. 

maybe your home was back after all.
