One thing that really gets me about Urianger comforting Minfilia in Amh Araeng is that when she says Thancred hates her, Urianger never actually says, no, he doesn't. He says instead, none of this is your fault, and the original Minfilia wouldn't hold anything against you, and in typical Urianger form he says some things about fate and faith, and his words are kind and beautiful--but he also completely sidesteps the question of how Thancred feels about her.

And I think this moment is very reflective of Urianger's relationship to Thancred and child!Minfilia as a whole. It reflects what we see when we first see all of them together in Il Mheg.

Urianger knows that the way Thancred behaves toward the girl is hurting her. He's spent enough time around the two of them to see that plainly. Theoretically, he could say something to Thancred about it; they're obviously close friends, and if Thancred was going to value anyone's opinion, it would be his. But he doesn't say anything, because he still feels guilty and responsible for all of it: about their Minfilia going to the First and what happened to her there, and thus for what both Thancred and child!Minfilia are going through now. Even though Thancred has never outright blamed him for it (however he may feel privately, which I think is hard to say), it seems like Urianger still feels like he has no right to say anything.

So he tries to compensate instead. He's kind to Minfilia, connects with her in his own way and gives her books, and by the time we see them together he's obviously become something of a familial figure to her. I would say that he and Thancred aren't so much raising her together as they're doing it... around one another. Thancred is gruff and cold and holds Minfilia at arm's length emotionally so that his protectiveness comes off harshly even when it's well-meant, and Urianger dotes on her and tries to make up for it all while avoiding the actual problem.

So that conversation in Amh Araeng is both touching and maddening to me, and it really drives home what's maddening about it when, upon overhearing it, the Warrior of Light turns to Thancred to ask him if he has anything to say to Minfilia--who has just said, out loud, that she thinks Thancred wishes she was dead--and Thancred just says, "Not today."

And so they both go on avoiding the actual problem, for just a little longer.

This has been on my mind for long but I’m gonna do this - please reblog this if you’re comfortable with pre-establishing relationships. I do not mean “met at the grocery store two weeks ago” or “have a common friend”, but rather stuff like “have been best friends since kindergrden”, “go for a beer every friday”, “friends with benefits”, “dated in highschool”, “hate each other’s guts because -insert reason-”  etc. Something meaningful (but not necessarily shippy) and I mean with muns/characters you have not interacted with, because I cannot believe I am the only one who prefers jumping right into the heart of the human interaction.

I write the saddest lore for Tsuna and by the end of it I'm just more convinced she deserves to get zonked out of her gourd and receive the best dick of her life yanno

Over a millenia ago, a nomadic tribe of Au Ra was led by Alzadaal Khan. They had originally travelled to Corvos in southern Ilsabard, but found it to be in perpetual conflict. In Thavnair, they had found the strength-based Gajasura at war with the knowledge-based Arkasodara.

It's Rabbit Heart.

It was an accident, really. A long time ago I saw it on a fan playlist for Yuna so I always attributed it to her. It wasn't until I revisited it did I realize it fit Tsuna even better.

Here I am, a rabbit hearted girl, Frozen in the headlights,

Tsuna is a timid thing who only knew to run from her problems. She runs from conflict, and balks at violence.

Though it also has a meta kind of humour to me because Tsuna was originally supposed to be a Viera.

This is a gift, it comes with a price, Who is the lamb and who is the knife? Midas is king and he holds me so tight, And turns me to gold in the sunlight,

The first line I attribute to her Echo, and her Blessing of Light. She is told it's Hydaelyn's gift, but it comes at being ostracized by those without it. As a Warrior of Light it brings her so much misfortune.

The second refers to a God-- It could be Hydaelyn who loves her so, but it also brings to mind Azim. Azim, who loved her so much that he would cover her body in his golden scales.

I must become a lion hearted girl, Ready for a fight, Before I make the final sacrifice,

Shadowbringers feelings. Thancred's gunblade is called lion-heart-- ahem-- but it also means her character development. She's no longer running from her problems, and she's ready to risk it all.

Who is the lamb and who is the knife? Midas is king and he holds me so tight,

Hydaelyn would create soldiers out of her and Minfilia both. Tsuna sees herself as a sacrificial lamb by SHB onwards.

Hydaelyn, or Azim-- used as the refrain here emphasizes her complicated feelings towards those she would call 'God'.

And as a Raen, she is removed from her original culture (Azim is a stand-in for this) in having assimilated to Hyuran society. Her scales and horns has always made her 'different', and it's something she struggles with.
