nini’s thoughts on kafka on the shore (book review)

Hey guys! I’ve been away for a LONG time XD! I was originally going to come back n continue the chaptered reviews, but I feel like it’s been too long so I decided to do a complete review of the whole book. I feel like this is a better way of easing back into the blog :D. Without further ado...

KOTS was definitely a wild ride. As I was nearing the end, I was overwhelmed with so many questions that I felt would go unanswered. My mind was whirring and spinning, but once I closed the book I felt a good sense of closure. There was so much adventure, fantasy, and just a touch of romance, which is the perfect recipe for a book in my opinion. I’ve never been a huge fan of romance, but this had just the right amount. The last 15(?) chapters definitely took a turn I wasn’t expecting, but it was absolutely amazing. Literally all throughout the book I never knew where the story would take me, but at the same time I was never surprised when something crazy happened. That’s how great this story is. Haruki Murakami is such a good writer, and I can’t wait to read more of his works in the future!

Isn’t a dead language rather a sad thing, Janet? Once it lived and burned and glowed. People said loving things in it…bitter things…wise and silly things in it. I wonder who was the very last person to utter a sentence in living Latin.
