tbh i'm a big fan of kagehina and yamayachi with tsukishima who has to sit through ALL of his friends' idiotic pining and gives them advice when he can't take it anymore which he constantly says he regrets when they are being happy couples right in front of his face but secretly he's glad cuz he loves his friends

# kuroo tetsuro - k, like kisses
Tumblr media
a/n: i haven't posted anything in a week, and this is so short and bad it's actually a joke T-T i'm posting it anyways in hopes of someone actually enjoying it tho.....
summary: the lucky moments when you and kuroo can actually meet up
warnings: kissing, nothing really??
Tumblr media
kuroo tetsuro didn't pay too much attention to their first ever practice match with karasuno.
it was like every other match, right? yes, nekoma's coach did constantly talk about the dumpster battles, how big of a thing they were back in their team's prime. but aside from that, the black haired boy treated it like nothing too special.
well, at least until his eyes caught a glimpse of one of karasuno's managers, a smile on your face as you carried a casual conversation with daichi, the captain of your team. all it took was a small giggle from you to have kuroo completely hooked, eyes following your figure until they lost the sight of it inside the building.
that was half a year ago.
'it's such a shame you're theirs.' kuroo mumbled, his lips mere millimeters from yours, curved up in a sly smile. he closed the gap between you two, eager to kiss you as his hands rested on your hips.
'you're saying that like i'm their girlfriend. i'm just a manager.' you mumbled in between kisses, cheeks burning red as your hands ran gently through his hair, ruining his signature hairstyle.
upon seeing that his hairstyle is ruined, kuroo frowned, quickly glancing your way to give you an ironically judgmental look. he returned the favor, messing up your hair with his fingers.
a chuckle left his lips as he gave you a quick smooch on the cheek.
'now we're even.'
you smiled at him, shifting in his lap to make yourself more comfortable as his eyes roamed over your face, trying to decide on which part of it to kiss next.
you had to make the best of your moments together, after all, long distance relationships weren't the most pleasant thing for neither of you. if you could, you would spend every living second with kuroo, and vice versa. but the reality was much different, and you had to make it work somehow.
'mm, i don't want you to leave tommorow.' he mumbled, face nuzzling into the crook of your neck, planting little, sweet kisses here and there. 'stay one more day, sweetheart.'
'i would if i could.' you sighed, kissing the top of his head. 'but we have a practice match tommorow, and kiyoko is sick. i have to be there.'
kuroo looked at you, slightly curious.
'who with?'
'aoba johsai.'
'i don't like their captain.'
'i know.'
you giggled at his words, gently flicking him on the forehead. he pretended to be hurt, putting his hand over his forehead in a dramatic manner. his other hand was still wrapped around your waist, gently tracing circles across your thigh.
'but, aside from that, i'm curious.' he mumbled quietly, face inches from yours yet again, so close you could feel his breath on yours. 'if we were to have a match with karasuno, would you cheer for them, or your awesome, spectacular, incredibly sexy, amazing boyfriend?'
you looked up at his eyes, feeling genuinely embarrassed at what he had just said about himself. even though, everything he said was completely true.
'easy, it would definitely be karasuno.'
'ouch.' kuroo put a hand up to his heart, looking like a beat up puppy. you laughed, giving him a few kisses across his face until his expression softened to a warm smile.
'dramatic as always' you said, continuing to plant kisses across his face. 'you know i'm only yours, sweetheart?'
one of his hands gently caressed the side of your face  the other one squeezing your thigh as his lips interlocked with yours in a long, passionate kiss.
'i know, sweetheart. only mine.'

kags and hinata are not sun and moon kags and hinata are not sun and moon kags and hinata are not opposites or opposing forces kags and hinata are not separated in time and space never permitted to exist in the sky together kags and hinata are not the synthesis of contrasts and they aren’t balance. kags and hinata are sun and shadow, wherever there is sun there is shadow and wherever there is shadow there is necessarily sun, they aren’t opposites they are complements, they are inseparable, they are two manifestations of the same energy, visually distinct but intrinsically one and the same.

# tsukishima kei - eyes don't lie
Tumblr media
a/n: as @moonswolfie said, this man has me wrapped around his finger, so here's another tsukki fic^^ i wanted to post it earlier, but bcs of school i sadly wasn't able to do that
summary: tsukishima definitely isn't jealous. or is he?
warnings: none
Tumblr media
tsukishima's eyes were always glued to you.
his world revolved around you ever since you were little. although distant and dry at first, tsukishima seemed to take keen interest in your person almost immediately. he was lucky enough to end up in the same high school and class as you, even more lucky when he found a handwritten love letter in his locker, the writing obviously yours.
his eyes would glint whenever they landed on your frame, his lips always curving into a small, barely noticeable smile. yet this time, his look was completely different.
he looked annoyed, almost mad as he stood in the corner, his back against the wall as he carefully scanned the situation. the music was quite loud at the party, the house spacious enough to fit too many people for tsukishima's liking. it wasn't his party, of course; if it were up to him, he wouldn't be here in the first place. but something about your sweet, slightly pouty face while you asked him to accompany you was enough to convince him.
and now he was left watching as none other than kuroo tetsurou shamelessly flirted with you, talking and laughing at the other end of the room.
he seemed so irritated he didn't even notice his best friend standing right beside him, the freckled boy trying to contain his laughter upon seeing tsukishima's expression.
'ah, tsukki, you look even more grumpy than usual.' yamaguchi said, a small giggle leaving his mouth when his friend turned to face him, his expression so funny he couldn't contain his laughter anymore. 'i've never seen you so jealous.'
'i am not jealous.'
'right, and my name's hinata shoyo.'
tsukishima rolled his eyes, well aware that yamaguchi was, in fact, right. he was jealous beyond belief, almost to the point of making his blood boil. but it wasn't without its reasons.
you were beautiful, and not only in his eyes. many people from your high school, as well as outside of it, found you attractive, and due to this specific factor, tsukishima was afraid of someone swooping in and taking you away from him. no matter how many times yamaguchi assured him that you're not interested in anyone else, there was always a voice in the very back of his head telling him otherwise.
but still, he didn't utter a word to you about it. ever. he didn't want to show any weakness, brushing it off for the time being and pretending like he's not, in fact, quite hurt.
his eyes landed on you once again, his expression softening a bit when noticing you walking in his direction, a bright, wide smile gracing your face.
'i finally found you.' you said, tsukishima immediately noticing the sparkles in your eyes the moment they met his. an almost unnoticeable smile appeared on his face, his hand gently patting the top of your head, fingers brushing through your soft hair. 'want to go get some fresh air?'
the blonde hummed, nodding in response as you quickly grabbed him by his hand, almost dragging him to the nearest exit with a big smile on your face.
upon leaving the building, tsukishima laid his back against the wall, eyes glued to you and carefully scanning your every move.
'what're you thinking about?'
his head tilted to the side, a small mumble leaving his lips.
'nothing.'
hearing his answer, you sighed, walking up a few steps to stand right in front of him, a semi pouty look on your face. your hands went up to cup his cheeks, immediately scoring a theatrical groan from him, the boy trying to hide that he obviously liked whe  you did it.
'i don't believe you. you seem deep in thought.'
'what were you and kuroo talking about?'
tsukishima's eyes were focused on yours, his gaze gentle. and yet there was something in the way he looked at you that indicated something wasn't right.
'oh, we just talked about volleyball, what he's been doing after graduating high school, and- wait.' you stopped in the middle of the sentence, making a face that ysukishima couldn't quite decipher; something between an excited and mischievous look. she took a deep breath, her grin growing bigger with each second.
'are you jealous?'
'no, i'm not.'
'yes you are! i knew it.'
'no, i'm not.'
'you are.'
'i'm no- alright.' tsukishima sighed, admitting defeat this time. 'maybe i am. but it's your fault.'
you furrowed your brows, trying to understand what he meant by that. tsukishima saw the expression of yours and almost immediately continued talking, a short but sweet explanation.
'you're too pretty, one day someone's going to steal you from me.'
he didn't expect you to laugh in response, standing up on your tip toes to give him a quick, sweet kiss on the lips.
'it's cute.' you said, giggling at your boyfriend as you saw his cheeks flushing a light shade of pink. 'but i'm not going anywhere. there's only one guy in this world who i view as a life partner.'
'and who would that be?' tsukishima asked, a nonchalant tone as he played dumb just to hear the answer.
'you, idiot.'
the blonde boy smiled, and this time it was a genuine one, that would only appear on his face when around you. he ruffled your hair playfully, laughing when you got annoyed about him ruining your hair.
he looked over to the sides, smiling when realized it was just the two of you. he quickly leaned down to kiss you, hand resting on the side of your face.
'i love you.'
you smiled into the kiss upon hearing his whisper, pulling back for a second to look at his face. she wrapped her arms around him tightly, trapping him in a hug.
'i love you too, you know? and i don't plan on going anywhere.'

# tsukishima kei - drunk in love!
Tumblr media
a/n = is this a comeback of mine of sorts? yes (although i don't want it to be, since it's not my best work). i haven't written anything in so long, and i really love the idea of a stoic, serious character acting clingy and completely different when drunk (reminds me of shin from a sign of affection, who's my fav boy ever), that's why tsukki might be kind of out of character here. also, i didn't proofread this because it ended up being longer than i expected.
summary = an intoxicated tsukishima is a clingy tsukishima. and also, he might say a bit too much for his own liking.
warnings = out of character tsukki (bcs he's drunk), mentions of alcohol
Tumblr media
drunk tsukishima was surely a sight to see.
to see a man, usually so serious and stoic, in a state like that was almost uncanny. his cheeks flushed pink, a stupid smile plastered to his face as he giggled quietly over what yamaguchi just said.
after your entire friend group went their own ways either starting university or pursuing a career in volleyball, it became a common practice for the few of you to just meet up and discuss the latest life achievements with a drink in hand. everyone eagerly awaited that particular moment of the week, some (meaning yachi, of course) would even set weekly countdowns to try and surpass their excitement.
tsukishima kei, out of the entire group, was usually the more reasonable one, opting only for a drink or two. But after a particularly hard exam at uni, which he passed with flying colors, his friends decided in unison that this evening would be different.
the room was filled with laughter, tsukishima's tall body laying on the couch, his head pressed against yamaguchi's chest. alcohol made him somewhat clingy; extremely clingy, if you were to compare him to his usual demeanor. a low hum left his lips, his hand coming up to take his glasses off.
'i'm gonna regret this tomorrow.' he mumbled, being met with a wave of laughter in response. your eyes focused on his face for a minute, scanning it thoroughly. continued mumbling something, the tips of his ears bright red, face probably burning after all the alcohol he digested. but your mind was focused on something completely different.
he looks really handsome without glasses.
'y/n. i think he might have to stay here for the night.' yamaguchi's voice echoing through the room brought you back to life, your eyes quickly darting away from the blonde's face to focus on her friend. the freckled boy had an awkward look on his face, a usual for him, as he stood up, heading for his coat with yachi following right after.
they mentioned previously that both of them will have to leave earlier this time, but you only remembered that now; a warm understanding smile gracing your face as you said your goodbyes, the three of you giggling at tsukishima mumbling how he's going to 'beat you all up tomorrow for making him so drunk.'
as the door closed behind them, a sigh left your lips. the apologetic look on yamaguchi's face wasn't there for no reason; he, as well as the rest of your friends, were all well aware of the massive crush you had on him. ever since freshman year, it's been something you promised yourself you will hide from him forever.
tsukishima stretched his arms, a yawn leaving his lips as the late night hours finally caught up to him. you didn't notice when your neutral look turned to a bright smile. there was something incredibly comforting in this specific sight, tsukishima's soft features looking completely different from his usual appearance.
you crouched down next to the couch, trying to decide whether you should leave him to sleep here or try to get him to your bed and take the couch yourself. you almost didn't notice tsukishima's eyes glued to your face, a curious look to them as he scanned your features, something incredibly similar to what you've done just a while ago. he looked deep in thought, the pinkish color fading from his cheeks with time.
'has anyone told you you have a really interesting face?' he stated, his lips curved up in a proud smile as if he'd given you the greatest compliment of all time. 'you know, it's like a kaleidoscope. no matter how long you stare at it, you still can't take your eyes off of it.'
you laughed, the tips of your ears burning red, regardless of how stupid his 'compliment' was. sober tsukishima would never say something like this, but then again, that was the whole point. the sole reason why the blonde didn't drink much was that it brought out a different side of him.
an embarrassing one at that.
'alright, kei. let's get you to bed.'
you used all the strength you had to get him off the couch, a satisfied smile on your face when he got up on his own, almost tumbling over in the process. a giggle escaped your lips at the sight; knowing just how much you were going to laugh at him for it tomorrow, and every day after that.
you motioned for him to sit down on the bed, swiftly moving towards the wardrobe to him some fresh bedding.
'ohhhh,' a prolonged hum left tsukishima's lips as you started changing the sheets, his curious eyes following your frame around the room. he had his glasses back on, so now he could actually see what was happening. 'are we sleeping together?'
you almost choked on your own saliva.
your eyes met his for a brief second, just as you were finishing with the bed. you gently pushed him to lay down, taking his glasses off in the process so he won't break them when sleeping.
'i'll be sleeping on the couch tonight, so no.'
you looked over to the boy only to see... a frown?
it was almost as if you were looking at a completely different person. you were once more amazed with just how much a few drinks can change someone's behavior entirely.
tsukishima reached for your hand, pulling you down to lay with him. his touch send a wave of shivers down your body, as his tall frame scooted closer to you.
'stay here.' he murmured quietly. in that very moment, you forgot he wasn't sober; you wanted this situation to actually become reality. so, with a tad bit of hesitation, you obliged.
soon sleepiness got the best of you, your eyes slowly fluttering shut as you fell asleep, the blonde laying right beside you, his arm wrapped around your body as he murmured something under his breath. you didn't catch half of what he said, but there were three distinct words that you managed to understand.
'i love you.'
as tsukishima woke up the next day, a headache accompanying him from the moment he opened his eyes, the side of the bed was already empty. he slowly got up, arms reaching for his glasses laying on the small coffee table by the bed.
he slowly but surely tumbled into the kitchen, surprised when he saw a cup of tea standing in front of him already. his eyes shot up to be met with your figure, standing by the kitchen counter and making breakfast.
you smiled at the boy, looking at him for a spare second before focusing back on chopping the vegetables.
'this should help you with your headache.' you said, putting the last of chopped tomatoes into the bowl before giving the salad a nice mix, as silence took over the room.
'i said something stupid yesterday, didn't i?' his words echoed through the kitchen, disrupting the silence between you.
'now that you mention it' you said, putting down a bowl of food and a fork in front of him, sitting down on the chair right beside him. 'you did compare my face to a kaleidoscope, pouted like a kid when i told you i'm sleeping on the couch and were mumbling some incoherent words right before you fell asleep.'
tsukishima slightly covered his face, trying to hide his visible embarrassment at the mention of his drunken actions.
'well, at least i didnt confess to you when drunk.'
you looked at him for a long minute, your eyes indicating that something of this sort did happen yesterday. tsukishima's face was now flushed pink, more embarrassed than ever.
'oh.'
the room went completely silent, the two of you focusing on your food as you tried to think of any way to shift the conversation, get rid of the massive amounts of awkwardness.
tsukishima stood up, quickly getting your attention as your eyes shot up to meet his, a look on his face which you couldn't quite decipher.
'sorry for yesterday.' he sighed, hand moving up to adjust his glasses. he had a somewhat troubled look on his face, one that was apparent no matter how much he tried to hide it behind his cold demeanor.
he opened his lips for a few seconds, hesitant about his next words.
'i had somewhat of a different idea for my confession, but i guess that's it.'
you froze on the spot, mouth slightly agape, eyes searching for any indicators of tsukishima's words being a joke. despite trying really hard, she found nothing; only a nervous silence on the blonde's end, waiting for you to say something, anything.
'you... like me?'
he could only nod in response, distressed when seeing the huge grin growing on your face. he had no idea what to expect when you took a few steps towards him, but it definitely wasn't a kiss on the cheek, leaving his cheeks a deep shade of red.
'it's good to know that my feelings are mutual.'

# tsukishima kei - no words exchanged
Tumblr media
a/n = i had two bigger tests today and i studied for both of them a lot BUT i think i did well?? let's hope so cuz i'll die if i end up failing them fr... ALSO idk abt this one cuz i didn't have much time to write lately (which resulted in me being dissatisfied with everything i write) but i hope you like it anyways ^^
summary = a school project finally bonds you with the tall blonde from your friend group.
warnings = none tbh, except for kinda ooc tsukki?
Tumblr media
if someone had no bigger knowledge of tsukishima kei as a person, they would immediately assume he was greatly annoyed by your presence.
your rambling seemed to not have an end, the excitement in your voice and sparkly eyes clearly indicating just how into the conversation you really were. tsukishima glanced over to your side for a spare second, the sight of you happily explaining something to hinata and yamaguchi in a high-pitched voice gracing his eyes, taking in every bit of emotion in your face, every word you said.
ever since you became karasuno's manager along with yachi, tsukishima has been stuck with that weird feeling inside his gut, one that he so desperately tried to get rid of from the very moment he made notice of it. he couldn't afford himself to waste time on such stupid things as love; or maybe, more precisely, he didn't want to admit to himself he was actually feeling that way towards someone.
on the contrary, you actively thought that tsukishima kei hated you.
for you, the quick glances he stole your way were nothing but an indicator of being annoyed by the amount of words that left your mouth, and it didn't help you were the only person he never directed his snarky comments to. in fact, he didn't even speak to you, almost at all; aside from an occasional small talk with him and yamaguchi or greeting you at school.
out of your entire friend group, it was always the most awkward between you two, a surprising fact when you considered that even someone such as kageyama talked with tsukishima more in his life than you have. and if you were being completely honest, it made you a tad bit sad.
and if things couldn't get worse than they already were, a project for chemistry class with random partners hit you like a smack to the face.
"it's a good thing, though, don't you think so, yamaguchi?" yachi's voice echoed from beside you, the dark-haired boy giving her a nod and a little hum in response. "maybe the two of you will finally bond a little."
"yeah, if we even exchange a word." you murmured, feet carrying you to your locker as you took out the books you needed for your next class.
you couldn't deny that maybe yachi was right. maybe it was the chance you needed to finally break the ice of awkwardness between you two, to finally act like actual friends.
as you parted your ways with yachi, the blonde girl going to her class, your eyes caught a glimpse of a different blonde, much taller, walking out of the bathroom and towards you and yamaguchi.
"[name]."
you almost flinched at the sound of your name from his mouth, and yet something in the way he said it sounded so warm and familiar. your eyes met his as you fully turned your body around towards the boy, head turned slightly upward as you waited for him to continue speaking.
"we should probably meet after school sometime this week to do the project."
Tumblr media
you fiddled with your fingers as you stood in tsukishima's doorway, an unsure look on your face as you tried your best not to overthink the situation too much. it couldn't go wrong, right? it's just a project for school. maybe you and him will actually get along.
as you caught a glimpse of tsukishima's frame on the other side of the door, a small smile appeared on your face, the boy waiting for you to take off your shoes before motioning for you to follow him, heading inside his room.
not a word exchanged.
his room was none other than what you expected it to be; everything was neat and organized, and it looked almost untouched. as you sat down on the edge of the bed, eyes still roaming through the unfamiliar place you were in, a small detail occurred to you.
"you have a collection of dinosaur figurines?"
tsukishima tried to hide his embarrassment, but it was evident the second you noticed how the tips of his ears turned red when hearing your question.
"so what?" he cleared his throat, voice as nonchalant as possible as he opened his laptop, sitting down at his desk.
"nothing." you mumbled, eyes following his movements. "i think it's sweet."
he only hummed in response, fingers swiftly moving across the keyboard as he typed in something into the internet, silence taking over the room; so thick you doubt you would've been able to cut it with a perfectly sharpened knife.
ten minutes passed, and tsukishima still didn't seem even remotely interested in starting a conversation with you, a fact that both annoyed and worried you. ignoring the "bonding experience" yachi mentioned it could be for you two, you also had a school project to do.
and that project wasn't even touched yet.
"you know, if you didn't want to work with me, you could've always switched partners."
tsukishima, although taken aback by your question, gave you only a slight shrug in response, seated with his back facing you.
"i wanted to work with you." his words confused you, eyes glued to the back of his purple t-shirt as you tried to process what he could possibly mean by that.
"you hate me, though." you mumbled, barely loud enough for the blonde haired boy to hear you. this time, he did turn around to face you; and as much as you tried, you couldn't exactly understand the emotions behind the expression he had. he looked like he didn't believe what he just heard and, to some extent, that was the truth.
his eyes were fixated on your face, a rare occurrence considering that most of the time the two of you wouldn't even share eye contact.
"i don't."
"you don't really do anything to prove that."
he sighed, hand instinctively going to brush through his hair.
"i'm not used to having friends." his words echoed through the room. "let alone friends like you."
you didn't quite understand what he meant, looking at him with a confused look painted on your face.
"you're loud, and annoying, and you talk so much it makes me wanna throw myself out the window." his words hit you like a knife through your heart. the remains of a faint smile immediately dissapearing from your face. but from what it looked like, he wasn't close to being done talking.
"and yet i can't seem to hate you at all. you make all those traits seem like the most loveable things on the planet."
he stopped for a couple of seconds, as if trying to decide what to say next. tsukishima wasn't used to talking a lot, and talking to you greatly stressed him, as much as he wanted to deny it.
"i don't hate you, [name]. don't make me repeat myself again." he finally added, trying to come back to his usual, cold demeanor. but you could still feel the bits of softness left in his voice, the faintest shade of pink gracing his cheeks.
you smiled, seeing as he turned back to his laptop, typing away again.
"i won't, don't worry." you said, standing up to look at whatever tsukishima was writing down, a grin on your face. "but i am telling kageyama about your dinosaur figurine collection."
he turned to you abruptly, a sight of annoyance mixed with an amused smile on his face, almost as if he enjoyed the playful comment from you.
"don't you even dare."

tysm for the tag wolfie <33
i already feel like my list is gonna be quite boring BUT who cares anyways
above the chinese restaurant - laufey. my queen my woman she has no bad songs but this one??? it gives me a feeling that i can't explain and is most definitely my favorite one from her (i could make this list just laufey songs tbh) definitely my style of music 100%.
chemtrails over the country club - lana del rey. the line "you're in the wind, i'm in the water/ nobody's son, nobody's daughter" has been STUCK in my head and i cannot possibly get rid of it. i just can't. the vibe of this song is absolutely immaculate and i can't explain my love for it even though i don't listen to lana all that much.
my sails are set - aurora. LITERAL GOOSEBUMPS WHAT THE FUCK. i'm a sucker for a good orchestra in a song like this and what the composers of the opla music did with this one is beyond my expectations. i can't begin to explain the emotions that go through me when listening to this, also let me just say aurora voice? perfectly fitting for this song. everything abt it is so perfect i could cry.
cough syrup - glee cast. yes it's the glee version so what???? it's literally superior i love it so so much (darren criss literally made god's work with this song.) THE EMOTIONS IN HIS VOICE and also remembering what scene was playing in the background of it? chills. it also makes me very nostalgic for some reason that i can't quite explain.
specialz - king gnu. superior jjk opening i fear. it's my favorite one by far if i'm being completely honest, and it has the perfect vibe for shibuya arc (which traumatized me, btw, because i already read the manga). the singers voice and some specific parts of the song just scratch my brain the right way idk how to explain it really.
tags (no pressure); @ox1-lovesick & anyone who wants to ^^
Got tagged by @milfkarazorel to list 5 songs ive been listening to lately! Thank you! ^_^
Vampire empire by big thief.... love the rythm in this one
Mord i mina tankar - ebba grön. The instrumentals are so fun & the heavy theme of the song kinda reflects some stuff I'm going through rn
Midnight show by the killers. INSANE tempo i ❤️ forever i could listen to it for the rest of my life
Hey pretty - Poe. Song inspired by house of leaves & it shows. Big fan of the lyrics & the wanting to escape your selfmade prison
Because I want you by Placebo. Vocals go hard & the metallic feel of the whole album is real captivating @pisshandkerchief @maythray @lethargyhill @dyggot @mahkari @skyllion-uwu @nyafuyu @quin-the-fool @groceryshoppingwithaghost @flayingintoshreds

Timeskip!Hinata x Nurse!Reader
Reader is gender neutral
Hinata has to face the truth.
no sorry that sounded ominous.... well i guess it's kinda supposed to be considering what this fic is about
also i don't know literally anything about how a proper hospital works, I've only stayed at one overnight twice when i was much younger so real hospital workers/people who know medical stuff please don't crucify me i'm just a highschooler😭
Tumblr media
It was just another shift at the hospital for you.... is what you would say if Hinata Shoyo, a professional volleyball player wasn't staying there.
After a horrible car accident caused by a drunk driver, he ended up in critical condition and has to be kept in the hospital for months.
You often talk with him while wrapping his bandages or switching the IV and he's an amazing person. So cheerful and kind and positive despite what happened to him that it inspires you to work harder.
Today was no different. "Good morning, Hinata-san." You greeted with a smile during your morning check up on every patient. You smile at every patient you greet but somehow it becomes especially bright for Hinata.
"Ah, good morning!!" Hinata smiled back once he noticed you. He always looked really happy when he saw you, like a puppy when his owner comes home.
As you checked up on him, you made small talk.
"Hey, have I ever told you that you're my favourite nurse?" He suddenly asked, shy smile on his face.
"And you're my favourite patient." You replied casually. You felt so comfortable around him that the answer naturally came out without you even thinking about it. You only realised seconds later the conversation you just had.
"Ummm..." you tried to break the suddenly awkward silence but couldn't think of anything to save your life.
You looked up to see his face, only to find him blushing warmly. He looked ethereal, the warm tones of his face, hell, his entire body being in direct contrast to the cold, sterile look of the hospital bed.
Wait, what are you even thinking right now?! He's just a patient and you're a nurse that's taking care of him.
Nothing more. This is strictly professional.
You're already done with the check up, and yet you don't want to move on to the next patient. His presence is like a warm blanket that makes it hard to get out of bed, or a hospital room in this case. Even if there's awkward tension in the room right now.
And yet, you have to get out of bed every morning, so you walk to the door, bidding him farewell for now and he smiles gently, saying bye back. If he found the whole interaction to be awkward, he sure didn't show it. He's way too sweet for his own good.
Later in the day, when you were making your rounds again, every check up seemed to drag on forever. You liked tending to Hinata so much that other patients became a chore in comparison. You were very stoked when you entered Hinata's room. And so was he, evident by the bright grin on his face.
The words "favourite nurse" replayed in your head, making you feel slightly giddy. Still, you happily went to change his IV, when the doctor entered.
This wasn't anything unusual, the doctor would sometimes come in to give reports on the patient's recovery or show CT scan results.
"Hinata-san." The doctor's tone froze you for a second. It sounded serious, grim, unnerving. You turned your head to look at the doctor as he walked to the end of Hinata's bed, Hinata paitently waiting for him to continue.
"You've been here for about 2 months, correct?" The doctor asked, tone oddly unreadable. Hinata nodded, looking slightly worried.
"The updated information came in today. I have good news, and I have bad news." He said, flipping over one of the papers on his clipboard.
Oh no... any kind of bad news, especially with Hinata's current condition is not a good thing. Out of muscle memory, you gently took his hand to comfort him and he gently wrapped his fingers around yours. Hinata's face became uncharacteristically blank, nodding again.
"The good news is that the damage to your spinal cord was not severe, so with therapy, you will be able to walk again." The doctor looked to Hinata, and you swear you saw relief flash in his eyes for a second, but the worry quickly returned as he awaited the bad news. You felt your hand getting squeezed.
"But that being said... due to various fractures and the damage that was done to the spinal cord, you will never be able to play volleyball again." The doctor's eye contact was unwavering, and you're sure it must pain the doctor immensely every time he has to deliver bad news.
...Never play volleyball again, huh? It doesn't surprise you considering his injuries but it doesn't make it any better when you have to face the facts. It's horrible to have it said to your face.
You felt the grip on your hand loosen, and you quickly looked to Hinata to study his reaction. You can't even begin to imagine what he feels right now.
.
"One time, I was passing by an electronics store in middle school, and then I saw a volleyball match on TV. After that, I knew that volleyball was my destiny!" Hinata explained cheerfully, smiling up at you.
"Really? So it was like love at first sight then." You said, walking past his bed to open the window.
"Uhhh, yeah, sorta like that! Volleyball has been my passion for like... 8 years now?"
"I actually watched a match of yours before bed yesterday. I don't really understand the rules, but you looked... in your element, so to speak." You walked back around his bed, sitting by his side.
"Really?! I'll get you tickets to one of my games after I'm all healed up, I promise!" His smile was as bright as the sun.
.
Those words repeated in your head. You felt uncomfortable, like you're at a funeral despite no one in the room being dead. You've seen worse, you know that. But Hinata is... special to you.
His face was completely unreadable in that moment. He looked to be processing the information given to him. You furrowed your brows in anticipation of a reaction. But it didn't happen.
The doctor excused himself to let him process the news and he remained in the same position, hand ghosting over yours.
"Hinata-san...?" You started carefully.
At the sound of your voice a shiver ran through him, but he didn't look at you. "Do you want to be alone...?" You asked gently.
"...No..." his voice was very quiet and choked up, and it pained you to see the ray of sunshine that Hinata is looking so empty.
"Okay... I won't leave, don't worry." You said, rubbing his hand with your thumb. You tried your best to smile at him, but you're sure it looked forced.
It felt like time stopped completely, the only indicator of it passing being Hinata's chest gently rising and falling.
His face slowly contorted from shock, to realisation, to an emotion you can't even begin to describe. The despair of having something so dear to you taken away by no fault of your own must be heartbreaking.
You had no idea what to say or do, afraid that anything you would do would hurt him even more. The silence was uncomfortable, deafening in a way you can't exactly pinpoint.
Tears started rolling down his cheeks, and he squeezed your hand in a futile attempt to comfort himself. "I'm..." he started, but the sentence died off in gentle sobs and hiccups. He seemed too afraid to look you in the eyes.
You moved closer to him, carefully hugging his arm as to not cause him any pain. He gasped gently through his tears, which you wouldn't have heard were you not so close to him. He looked to be completely inconsolable, which was completely understandable.
"I'm- sorry for...."
Your eyes widened. "Don't you dare apologise. For anything. You just got the worst news of your life, let yourself process it, for God's sake." You're aware you sounded harsh, but there was no way in hell you would let him feel bad for inconveniencing you or something.
He's gone through enough in the past 2 months.
He whimpered in response, looking off outside at the trees, still sniffling and hiccuping.
After a few minutes, he felt you gently grab him by the shoulders. He turned to you, eyes red and cheeks wet from tears. Upon seeing your determined face, his eyes widened slightly. You never make this kind of face around him.
"Listen to me. I'm just a nurse, and I might not be the best at consolation, but I really need you to hear this." you began, looking into his eyes for approval to continue. He nodded slightly, a sign of willingness to listen to you.
"From what I know, you dedicated a big part of your life to volleyball. Volleyball is your lifeblood. And I'm sure everything seems hopeless right now." He lowered his gaze, tears still spilling out of him like a waterfall. The sight hurt to see.
"But this doesn't have to be the end. Even if you'll never be able to play again, it isn't the end all be all. There's more to a sport than just playing it. You're not done with volleyball unless you make it so." You wanted to sound sure and confident, because you were. While you don't know that much about volleyball, you've seen him play. You're a hundred percent sure that Hinata Shoyo will prevail in some way in the field of volleyball, even if he's unable to play.
"...Someone..." he started.
"...Someone told me t-this... a long time a-ago, too... Thank you..." Hinata smiled slightly, looking at you directly in the eyes. You felt like you could cry with him at that moment. You're very glad that he understood what you meant, even if it will take a long time for him to fully accept it.
And that's okay, getting your dreams shattered is never easy. But sunrise always comes after sunset, and that fact will always remain.

# kuroo tetsurou - day off
Tumblr media
a/n = a really short one bcs i'm sick rn T-T but it's almost crazy how i haven't written anything for kuroo yet
summary = your husband makes you stay at home because of your sickness.
warnings = using pet names, nothing else.
Tumblr media
"not to be that type of person, sweetheart, but i told you so."
your immediate reaction was to roll your eyes at your husband, a faint smile gracing your face as you reached for the mug next to you, taking a sip of the tea kuroo prepared for you.
of course, he was right. the day before the two of you decided to go for a fancy dinner, the black-haired man suggesting a new restaurant that just opened around the corner. and even though he clearly advised you to take a blazer, coat, or anything of that sort, you decided not to listen.
and now you were stuck with a cold, nose stuffed, and a sore throat as you tried your best to convince your husband you were okay.
"tetsurou, i have to go to work today." you mumbled, making your way out of your shared bed. as you sat up, you felt his hands on your arms, his broad figure sitting down next to you. tetsurou wrapped his arms around you, face nuzzling in the crook of your neck.
"not going anywhere, sweetheart." he whispered against your neck, and you could feel the warm smile plastered to his face. "already called your boss to give you a day off. we're staying home today, and i'll be taking care of you for the whole day."
a sigh left your lips, your body instinctively leaning towards his as he wrapped one of your arms around your waist, his touch making you relax. you felt his thumb drawing different patterns on your back, little hums leaving his lips as he gave you a gentle kiss on the neck.
"do you want me to make you something to eat?" he murmured, shifting his body to face you, eyes meeting yours. "i could make you some hot chocolate, too. something to help with your throat."
you shook your head almost immediately, stopping only for a second as a cough left your lips.
"not now, tetsurou." the boy gave you a questioning look, head tilted to the side as if he was about to ask you for the reason why. "maybe a bit later. i have something else in mind for now."
kuroo smiled, a little huff escaping his lips as he ruffled your hair, hand staying on top of your head. he was still gazing at you, the look on his face soft and full of love, something that was exclusive to you only.
"really? and what is that, sweetheart?" his question echoed through the room, eyes focused on how your smile grew bigger and bigger within a few seconds.
"cuddles."
