REFLECTION
Key concept is a platform that allows my client to immerse themselves in nature, making use of all their senses, taking in natural lighting and environmental factors. This platform consists of 2 cubes together - one sheltered for living and the other that has feature cut outs, bounded by string. This creates a boundary but can be manipulated and provides the client with a space to become one with nature and focus on their mental state.
-I took the approach of identity and wellbeing quite literally. When i think of wellbeing i think of the physical and mental/emotional state of a person. My dwelling facilitates a person to fully take control of themselves and how they are feeling, using all their senses they are exposed to natural environmental elements yet still have a safe and cosy platform to do this in. -In terms of identity, a person who suffers from a mental illness should not identify themselves as 'different' or feel alone because they are different to the next person. This dwelling allows the client to focus on who they are, NOT who they are not.
-My dwelling does relate to the key terms; site, dwelling and inhabitants. It focus' on the inhabitant, providing a platform to aid in their physical/metal wellbeing whilst making use of the site Mt Victoria and its naturalistic elements such as trees and foliage. My dwelling is a framework for how our lives are lived - generally we live the life that others want to see us live, and often people forget to live their own life without the concern or worry of what others will think. This dwelling aims to aid in the recovery process of depression and ideally get people 'living' again.

FINAL PRESENTATION SLIDES
Shown through a combination of mixed medias such as sketch up, indigo, drawing, water colour and all have hand stitched elements to tie in my concept of string and the definition of conjoin. I am connecting my client to their surrounding nature environment and have created a platform that facilitates this.

some final renders capturing materiality and connections between materials. The yellow is now only internally on my design as it represents the boundary between man made and natural boundaries. The yellow as mentioned previously helps with happiness and is only for the client who is inside the dwelling. from the outside the dwelling is minimal in terms of colour - the platform should not stand out from the outside as passersby cannot view/touch the string.

External building requirements as of NZS3604
Figuring out external building code requirements for floor/bracing of dwelling, proving to be quite compliment due to the gradient of Mt Victoria and also the fact my dwelling is raised off the ground (4m). First 4 images show that there wasn't enough joists for starters, so figuring out how many i needed for a 6x12 dwelling was important to get correct.
Joists; are 190x45mm, at 400mm centres with a 2m span
Bearers; are 190x70mm, with a 3m span
Piles; are 280 SED (small end diameter) power poles made from wood. These were the only poles that would support the weight load an extend further than 4m (needed tog o in further due to the amount the pile would need to go into the ground).
Steel cable wire bracing; is to give extra support to the piles, especially located up Mt Vic which is a high wind zone.

developing external materials. My previous design has a lot going on in terms of colour, patterns and textures. i wanted my design to reflect on the outside its current environmental surroundings.
