I think one big reason why we don't consider the stars as important as before (not even pop-astrology anymore cares about the stars or the sky on itself, just the signs deprived of context) is because of light pollution.
Tumblr media
For most of human history the sky looked between 1-3, 4 at most. And then all of a sudden with electrification it was gone (I'm lucky if I get 6 in my small city). The first time I saw the Milky Way fully as a kid was a spiritual experience, I was almost scared on how BRIGHT it was, it felt like someone was looking back at me. You don't get that at all with modern light pollution.
When most people talk about stargazing nowadays they think about watching about a couple of bright dots. The stars are really, really not like that. The unpolluted night sky is a festival of fireworks. There is nothing like it.

KICKSTART YOUR DAY WITH: “Because Of Them, We Can…” by Eunique Jones Gibson This amazing photo campaign for kids where African-American children pose as the great African Americans of our past and present that helped PoC to become who they are now, started out as a project for Black History Month. The photographer behind the project, Eunique J. Gibson, then realized that doing this for only 28 days out of the month of February couldn’t and wouldn’t do. Extending it to a full year where everyday, she would post a new photograph up on social networks, Gibson started the Kickstarter to turn her photo series into a book. She hopes to raise $80,000 by mid June, and has so far raised a little over $9,000. Want to help the cause? Click the title to support!

Ever sense I was tiny I wanted nothing more than to be a husband and father. But now that I am 26, I see how bad a lot of men are treated with their children; kids are used as a threat, held from them, average every other weekend “visitation” think about that, you “get to visit your child”, are robbed of being around them, a court system that works against fathers, how that lack of time forces you to either be the fun goofy dad or the jerk. because when you only get 2 days every other week you’re pretty much forced into that position. I look at marriage/paternity and family court and realize that the laws are not written for the children and they don’t benefit the fathers. Legally a woman isn’t even required to inform a man she is pregnant; we could break up, she can find out she’s pregnant and never inform me I have a son and it’s perfectly legal. I hear people argue that’s what’s court is for but these people don’t understand that you have to get processed it could literally be months before we go to court to discuss the case, that’s months with out my kid, that is unlawfully being held from me. Let’s not for get that this is just to air my grievance, doesn’t mean it will be decided or that it won’t get pushed back. and how this could also lead to a worse relationship with the mom and less with my kid. If I could not see my child honestly I don’t know how I would be mentally. I see a lot of horrible horrible parents and to know my child was being raised in those situations and I could do nothing… I really don’t think most women I talk to about this grasp what I’m saying. The laws aren’t made for us and that’s why at this point I can’t see myself getting married or having children anymore.

Watch "Detransitioner: "My Penis Is Gone Forever & I Regret it" | Emotional Interview" on YouTube
People need to be discussing this kind of stuff, more. Blaire is the only person I have seen that give people a platform to discuss this side of transitioning. The trans community buries these stories and it's damaging.
